Judith A. Campbell
Judith Ann (Short) Campbell of Olivet passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005.
Judy was born Aug. 16, 1934 to Glenn and Edna Short. In 1952 she met and fell in love with Dave Campbell of Olivet. On June 12, 1954 they were married in Marshall and spent the next 51 years as best friends and lovers. Judy retired in 1998 from the VA Hospital in Battle Creek. She was an avid golfer, loved fishing, camping and singing. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bellevue, and was a choir member and past deaconess.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; and eight children, Dave (Zig) and Irene, Tim and Maggie, George (Joe), Sally and Randy Fritz, Sonia and Jed Thorndyke, Steve and Cindy, Greg, and Mike and Tallie; plus 22 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Short and Edna Schmanski; George E. Campbell; grandson, David Campbell Tuckey; and brother-in-law, Norman J. Campbell.
Memorial services were held July 13 at First Baptist church in Bellevue, with Rev. Don Francis officiating.

Richard G. Carnahan, Jr.
Richard G. Carnahan, Jr. 53, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2005, in Sebring. He was born January 3, 1952, to Richard G. and Alitza (Goshorn) Carnahan, in Lansing, Michigan, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1988, coming from Eaton Rapids, Michigan. He was a Sergeant at Desoto Correctional Institute for 15 years and was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church & Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Carnahan is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane Carnahan, of Sebring; sons, Richard G. Carnahan, III, of Sebring and Robert A. Carnahan, of Bedford, TX; sisters, Doris Bailey, of Michigan and Christine Carnahan, of Jackson MS; & 3 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 18, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Sebring, with Father J. Peter Sheehan officiating. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, Florida.

Brenda Carpenter
Brenda Carpenter, 42, of Nashville, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Thornapple Manor, Hastings.
Brenda was born in Charlotte on Oct. 9, 1962, the daughter of Raymond and Charlotte (Eldrige) Carmoney. She was raised in the Nashville area and attended area schools there, graduating from Maple Valley High School in 1981. On March 25, 1989 in Grand Ledge she married Darryl Carpenter. The couple lived in the Nashville are for the early part of their lives together. They moved to the South Haven area for nine years before returning to the Nashville in 2004. Brenda enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, and visiting with her friends and neighbors. Together with her husband, Darryl, the couple enjoyed traveling to Maryland.
Brenda is survived by her parents, Raymond and Charlotte (Eldrige) Carmoney; her husband, Darryl; daughter, April Carpenter; son, Derek Carpenter; stepdaughter, Heather (Dustin) Kamrowski; stepson, Dustin (Jessica) Carpenter; and her brother, Bruce (Kathleen) Carmoney. She is also survived by her father and mother –in-law, Bruce and Janet Carpenter, and her brother-in-law, Steve (Martha) Carpenter.
Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Eddie and Nellie Ramsey, and Lavern and Eloise Carmoney; her brother-in-law, Bradley Carpenter; and her cousin, John Jane Jr.
Funeral services were held July 21 at Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, with Pastor Duane Royston officiating.

Dorothy E. Carpenter
Dorothy Ellen Carpenter, 72, of charlotte, formerly of Vermontville, died Sunday, June 5, 2005.
Mrs. Carpenter was born Aug. 29, 1932 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of the late Carl Wood and the late Gladys (Norris) Wood. Dorothy retired from the housekeeping department of Eaton County Medical Care Facility in 1994. She enjoyed her grandchildren and family gatherings and cooking.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Carpenter of Greenville, Frances (David) Spencer of Vermontville; sons, Dale (Penny) Carpenter of Vermontville, Gary Carpenter and Debbie Thomason of Nashville; five grandchildren, Joseph Carpenter, Nathan (Christy) Carpenter, Matthew Spencer, Kyle Spencer, Katelynn Spencer; great granddaughter, Alainna Carpenter; special niece, Charlene (Al) Perkins; sisters, Betty (Bob) Dilday of DeWitt, Sharon (Russ) McManus of Eaton Rapids; and brothers, Oscar “Pete” Wood of Charlotte and Jerry (Shirley) Wood of Eaton Rapids; sister-in-law, Donna Wood of Stanton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Carpenter, in 1995; and a brother, Lawrence Wood.
Funeral services were held June 8 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Richard L. Thorp officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville.

Rholland S. Carpenter
Rholland S. “Archie” Carpenter, 90, of Charlotte, passed away June 21, 2005 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility in Charlotte. Mr. Carpenter was born July 17, 1914 in Evart, Mich.
He was the son of Fran and Susan Agnes (Church) Carpenter and had been a Charlotte resident for 75 years. He was a 1935 graduate of Dimondale High School and was a member of the West Windsor United Brethren church. He had been employed in the horticulture department at Michigan State University, retiring in 1977 after 21 years of service and was a lifelong farmer.
Rholland is survived by his son David (Diane) Carpenter and daughter, Carol Carpenter, both of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Holly (Jim) Shirley, Rebecca Wertz and Michael (Amanda) Carpenter; six great grandchildren; brothers, Edwin (Fran) of Potterville, John of Lake Odessa and Bruce (Janet) of Charlotte and sisters, Alice Brenton Echtenaw of Charlotte and Illah (Lyle) French of Nashville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora E. (Bowser) Carpenter in 1999 and by eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Richard Thorp and Pastor Harold Cherry officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Windsor United Brethren Church or the Eaton County Medical Care Facility.
Judy G. Carter
Judy G. Carter, 66, of Charlotte, died Sept. 25, 2005.
Mrs. Carter was born May 24, 1939 in Charlotte, the daughter of Albert and Glenna (Pinch) Farquhar. Judy was a fabrication worker for AE.
She is survived by her husband, Lyle W. Carter; daughters, Tessa (Ned) Stoltzfus of Charlotte and Tammy Lewis of Tennessee; brothers, Larry Farquhar of California; sisters, Louann (Robert) Barnard of Florida, Janet (Regis) Michrina of Michigan; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Carter, and a brother, Glen Bemis.
Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at Calvary Baptist Church in Charlotte, with Pastor Mark Booth officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Benjamin Cartwright
Benjamin H. Cartwright, 75, of Charlotte, formerly of Urbana, Ohio, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 at Eaton Community Hospice House in Charlotte.
Mr. Cartwright was born March 27, 1930 in Lackie, W.Va., the son of Lewis and Mae (Parks) Cartwright and had been a Charlotte resident for 1 ˝ years, coming from Urbana, Ohio, He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Airborne Division during the Korean War. He was a retired professional surveyor, having been employed by the Ohio Department of Transportation, and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Urbana, Ohio.
Surviving are: his wife, Janet (Hueston) Cartwright; two daughters, Rebecca (James) Stafford of Lake Odessa and Jennifer (Gerald) Busse of Wauseon, Ohio; four grandchildren, Karen (Aaron) Reed, Laura (Cliff) Weller, Benjamin Lewis Cartwright II and Mark Shaftner; two step-granddaughters, five great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Cartwright of Page, W.Va.; and one sister, Joyce McPhee of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan K. Cartwright, and a son, Benjamin Lewis Cartwright.
Services were held Dec. 29 at Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Urbana, Ohio, with Father Tim West officiating. Interment was at Oakdale Cemetery in Urbana, Ohio.

Jean Ellen Casault
Jean Ellen Casault, age 77 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Sturgis Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born October 10, 1927 in Eaton Rapids, Michigan a daughter to the late Martin & Marie (Greiner) Hansen.
Jean had resided in Sturgis since 1948, coming from Eaton Rapids. On June 24, 1950 she married Paul Casault at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Eaton Rapids. He died October 24, 1988.
She was a graduated of Eaton Rapids High School and received her Bachelor and Masters Degree in Education form Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. Jean retired from Sturgis Public Schools in 1988 after 40 years of dedicated employment. She taught primarily Kindergarten at the Fourth Street, Jerolene, Park, Wenzel, Congress and Wall Schools.
Jean was an active member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis where she was a Eucharistic Minister, sang in the choir, taught CCD classes and was active in the HACCW. She also was a member of the Sturgis Hospital Auxiliary, Sturgis Women’s Club, her Pinochle Club and Bridge Club.
Jean was always ready to volunteer. Some of the organizations she served were Thurston Woods Village, Sturgis Salvation Army and the American Red Cross. She was an avid sports fan and for several years she was a scorekeeper for the Sturgis volleyball games. For 23 years she and her husband ran the Sturgis Youth Center and she and Paul hosted 8 foreign exchange students. For their volunteerism she and Paul were awarded the 1984 Sturgis Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds and in 1994 she was named Sturgis Citizen of the Year. Jean was a dedicated mother and grandmother that cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Cathie (Mike) Thomasma of Sturgis, 6 sons, Christ (Melody) Casault of Bronson, Craig (Madelyn) Casault, Church (Debbie) Casault, Paul Michael (Betty) Casault and John Casault, all of Sturgis and Kevin (Kim) Casault of Seattle, WA, 23 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a brother, Jens Hansen of Aitkin, SC, 4 sisters, Jane Rotier of Traverse City, Sally Stowe of Torrance, CA, Sue Harkness of Ashford, CT and Sandy Lyon of Pentwater and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, 1 son, Jamie Casault and 1 brother, Christy Hansen preceded her in death. The family is being served by the HACKMAN-Foglesong Funeral Home of Sturgis. The Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Jean Ellen Casault was held on Saturday at Holy Angels Catholic church in Sturgis. The Rev. Fr. Richard Altine officiated. A graveside committal followed the Mass at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated to the Paul & Jean Casault Family Grant or the charity of one’s choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
