Nancy E. Crippen
Nancy E. Crippen, age 65 of Okemos and formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at her residence in Okemos. Nancy was born February 16, 1940 in Leslie, Michigan, one of 12 children born to Wayne and Ollie Jennette (LaRowe) Crippen. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Caroline Allen and brother Kenndy Crippen.
Surviving are brothers and sisters, Gordon (Marge) Crippen, Loyd (Merna) Crippen, Joyce Love, Leon Crippen, Eunice Frost, Lester Crippen and Wayne (Kathleen) Crippen, Jr.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 13, 2005 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. Burial followed in the Rowley Cemetery in Williamston.
Donald B. Crisenbery
Donald B. Crisenbery, 80, of Seguin and San Antonia, Texas, formerly of Jackson, died Wednesday, May 4, 205 in the Hospice of San Antonio.
Mr. Crisenbery was born Feb. 21, 1925 in Jackson, the son of Erte and Mildred (Beattis) Crisenbery. He was a retired plumber and pipe-fitter, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a past commander of the Seguin, Texas American Legion Post, was a former officer in the Civil Air Patrol, was a member of Plumbers Union in Jackson and was a private pilot for many years.
Surviving are daughter, Kathleen hicks of Charlotte; son, Andy (Harriett) Crisenbery of Parma; two grandsons, Tim (Shawna) Crisenbery and Marc (Amy) Crisenbery; four great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 9 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Michael Williams and Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. The family will receive visitors Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the hospice of one’s choice.
Genevieve R. Crozier
Genevieve R. Crozier, 82, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005.
Mrs. Crozier was born Dec. 12, 1922 in Charlotte, the daughter of Lewis and Lela (Rolfe) Day. Genevieve was proud of her family, sold Avon, loved dancing, crocheting, knitting and flowers. She also enjoyed collecting plates and salt and pepper-shakers.
She is survived by sons, Bill Crozier of Charlotte, Robert (Vicki) Crozier of Charlotte; daughter, Dorothy (Jim) Woods of Seabring, Fla.; son, Carroll E. “Jr.” (Linda) Crozier of Valrico, Fla.; sisters, Alice (Harold) Williams of Charlotte and Edith Tuttle of Howard City; nine grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Crozier, in 1982; and eight other siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Dr. David R. MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Arrangements were by Pray funeral Home, Charlotte.
Leonardo Cruz
Leonardo Cruz, 69, of Lansing, passed away March 17, 2005.
Mr. Cruz was born Nov. 6, 1935 in Monte Alto, Texas, and retired in November 2001 as a heavy equipment operator. He loved music, dancing, fishing, cookouts, and outdoor activities with his family and friends. He was very proud of his family. Mr. Cruz was a member of the Latin-American Baseball League of Michigan. He was known to take people into his home and give them shelter and food, and help them find employment.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lou Frenette; brother, Steve Cruz; and nephews, Angel Trejo.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Maria; daughter, Josie Cruz, Tammy Cruz and Rebecca Cruz; sons, Miguel (Michelle), Dan (Pam), Henry (Marlene) and Lenny (Michelle) Cruz; 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters.
The Funeral Liturgy was held March 22 at Gorsline-Runciman Co., Lansing Chapel, with Father Michael J. Williams officiating. The Rite of Committal followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing.

Joanne E. Cujar
Joanne E. Cujar, 57, of Jackson, formerly of Eaton Rapids, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Cujar was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and assisted her husband on the family farm.
Surviving are her husband, George; sons, Andy (Riki) Cujar and Kevin Cujar, both of Jackson, sisters, Marjorie (Dale) Dailey of Union Town, Ohio, and Janette Flood of Hastings; mother-in-law, Dorothy Mitchell; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Palmer.
A prayer service was held April 21 at S.D. Lauer Funeral Home in Jackson prior to Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, with Rev. James Shaver officiating. Interment was at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Church or the charity of one’s choice.
John N. Curtis
John N. Curtis, 82, of Olivet, died Monday, March 21, 2005 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Curtis was born July 7, 1922 in Lake Odessa, the son of Grover and Georgie (Follett) Curtis. He was a press operator for General Motors for 33 years until his retirement in 1984, and had been a farmer most of his life. He loved being with his family, and enjoyed dancing, traveling and cards.
He is survived by daughters, Judy Curtis of Burlington, Jean (Bob) Winnie of Marshall; son, Clare (Mary) Curtis of Charlotte; grandchildren, John (Tamera) Curtis, Lyle Curtis, Warren Curtis, Tammy Winnie (Todd Westover), Eric (Tracy) Winnie, Curt Winnie; three great grandchildren, Collin and Kent Curtis, and Reagan Ann Winnie; sisters, Marjorie Hutchinson of Dimondale, Hazel Bauman of Leslie; brother, Willard (Celine) Curtis of Potterville; sister-in-law, Hazel Curtis of Brookfield Township; brother-in-law, Ron (Mary) Miller; brother-in-law, Jack (Marilyn) Miller; several nieces and nephews; and Sitka, his faithful companion Samoyed.
He was preceded in death by his wife Violet May (Miller) Curtis, on March 27, 1998; and a brother, Robert Curtis.
Funeral services were held March 25 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Len Schoenherr officiating. Interment followed at Bosworth Cemetery in Walton Township, Olivet.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Arloie E. Daly
Arloie Edith Daly, 101, of Bellevue, died Nov. 7, 2005 at Cosmopolitan Adult Foster Care Home in Marshall.
Arloie was born July 6, 1904 in Eaton County to Horace and Harriett (Lynd) Lane and graduated from Bellevue High School. Arloie celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends in July of 2004. Her grandparents were among the original settlers in Bellevue. She enjoyed cooking and working with her husband, Milo, on their farm.
Arloie married Milo in November of 1922; he died in 1967. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Maurice Daly, and four brothers.
She is survived by daughters, Maureen Jenkins and Phyllis (Earl) Ball, both of Battle Creek, and Beverly (Wendell) Wood of Albion; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Daly of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; and her dog, Pepper.
Services were held Nov. 10 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oaklawn Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Robert D. Damon Sr.
Robert Duane Damon Sr., 76, died suddenly at his home in Bellevue April 1, 2005.
Bob was born March 19, 1929 in Battle Creek to John and Luella (Hodges) Damon. He joined the U.S. Army in 1950 and served in Germany in the 154th Transportation Unit. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He worked at Kellogg’s and retired from Fisher Body in 1984 after 30 years of employment.
Bob married Marian Van Syckle of Bellevue on May 24, 1951; she survives. His loving wife, Marian, along with his children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. Bob enjoyed watching NASCAR, going deer hunting, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and taking care of his “grand-dog” Harriet.
Surviving are his wife, Marian; sons, Robert Duane (LuAnn) Damon Jr. of Marshall, Daniel (Peggy) Damon of Battle Creek; their daughters, Vickie Damon Pennington, Debra (Rick) Gardner and Pam Damon, all of Bellevue; grandchildren, Lindsay Gardner, Kilee Gardner, Dustin (Jessica) Damon, Douglas Robert Pennington, Robert Michael Damon and John Thomas Damon; great grandchildren, Douglas Gavin West and Lauren Elizabeth Damon; brothers, Kenneth (Shirley) Damon, John E. (Elaine) Damon and Dennis (Rosie) Damon, all of Marshall; sisters, Betty Harrison of Bellevue, Maxine (Don) Collins of Olivet and Sue (Paul) Coats of Battle Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Douglas Pennington.
Services were held April 5 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastor Virginia Heller of Bellevue United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery.
