Barbara J. Wright
Barbara Jean Wright, 84, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2005 in Lansing.
Barbara was born March 4, 1921 in Mason, the daughter, of Clifford Henry and Bertha May (Welsh) Higelmire. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Charlotte, a former member of the Eaton Rapids Business & Professional Women’s Club, a member of Island City Piece Makers Quilting Guild and was an accomplished artist. Barbara was a retired co-owner, along with her husband, of Xpert Electronics in Eaton Rapids.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles C. Higelmire and Kenneth R. Higelmire.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Merle B.; two sons, Clifford Ray (Rachel) Cole of Allendale, Thomas Lee (Janita) Terwilliger of Crossville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Katie (Bruce) Harkness, Mike (Kim) Cole, John (Julia) Cole, Loretta (Dan) Searles, Kyle (Diane) Terwilliger, Kent Terwilliger and Kurt Terwilliger; sister-in-law, Helen Wright of Eaton Rapids; and two special friends, Joan Harris and Vera Cronk.
Funeral services were held Aug. 16 at Calvary Baptist Church, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Sparrow Hospice. Arrangements were by Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Pamela Sue Wright
Pamela Sue Wright, age 50, of Eaton Rapids, died Tuesday Sept. 27, 2005 at her residence. Pamela was born July 8, 1955 in Lansing. She and her mother were partners with Wright Tax Service in Eaton Rapids. Pam was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Wright in 2000.
Surviving are her mother and best friend, Joyce Wright of Eaton Rapids; brother, Greg Wright of Eaton Rapids; 3 sisters, Jody (Josh) Wright-Tenenberg of Tacoma, WA, Teresa (Steven Peters) Wright of Sedalia, CO, Jackie Garcia of Alhambra, CA; 3 nephews, Jeff Wright, Bret Wright, special nephew and his family, Aric (Tanya) Wright and their children Adam and Kathrine.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery with Mike West, Dan Blanchard, Jim Lown, Bob Lundberg, E. Mark Risner and Alan Bresky as casket bearers. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Eaton Community Hospice in memory of Pamela Sue Wright.
Rev. Cline F. Young
Rev. Cline Fredrick Young, 78, of Lansing, and Laveen, Ariz., died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Rev. Young was born Nov. 29, 1926 in Bonnymon, Ky., the son of Harlan and Julia (Patrick) Young and was a resident of Lansing for 35 years. As a young man, he entered the Civilian Conservation Corps and later went into military service during World War II. Rev. Young was employed by the Fisher Body division of General Motors in Lansing for 33 years. He attended Seminary School of Theology in St. Louis, Mo., and was ordained into the ministry in 1961. He was a pastor at Gospel Assembly Church in Lansing for 18 years and in six other churches in three states over a period of 18 years. He was dedicated to the work of the Lord and was known as a loving compassionate pastor.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Joan (Copeland) Young, formerly of Lake Odessa; three children, David (Christine) Young of charlotte, Anita Stevens of Uniontown, Ohio, and Pamela (Mil) Hills of Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; four brothers, Claude and Harlan (Sharon) Young, both of Charlotte, Jim (Sue) Young of Holt and Clyde Young of Lansing; four sister, Lena Peterson< Margaret Ewing and Pat Staley, all of Charlotte, and Virginia (Melvin) Gosnell of Grand Ledge; and sister-in-law, Doris Young of Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Young.
Funeral services were held Feb. 4 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Jack Ross of Louisville, Ky., officiating. Interment was at Deepdale Memorial Park, Lansing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the hospice of one’s choice.
Richard C. Young
Richard C. Young, 65, of Leslie, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005.
As a child, Richard was a Boy Scout. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years and was a member of Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church. Richard was an avid steam engine show, swap meet and gardening enthusiast. He also loved to ride his motorcycle and to build toys for his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Charlene; four children, Sheila (William) Hurtubise, Russ (Christina) Young, Michael Young Sr. and Todd Young; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Pam young and Linda (Tom) Ralph; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alice Young; one brother, Rusty Young; and one sister, Beverly Jewett.
Mass of Christian Burial was held April 30 at Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church, with Fr. Michael Petroski presiding. Interment followed at Benton Township Cemetery, Potterville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by J.C. Adams Funeral Home, Leslie Chapel.
Frank E. Zakora
Frank Eart Zakora, 60, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Charlotte, passed away April 14, 2005 at his home.
Mr. Zakora was born Aug. 11, 1944. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served two and a half tours while serving his country. He received the Purple Heart twice, as well as many other medals.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; five step-children, Rosa (Edmond) Millier, Judy Ann, Joey, Candie Arce, all of Miami, Fla. and Lori Stewart of Sarasota, Fla.; five granddaughters, Brianna, Adronna, Mercedes, Maggie and Milissa; his mother, Theo Zakora of Charlotte; sisters, MaryAnn Allen of Bellevue, Penny (Jack) Rider of Nashville, Iris (Floyd) Stadel of Florida; brothers, Joe (Millie) Zakora, Jack (Deb) Zakora, Larry (Judy) Zakora, all of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bohumil (Pete) Zakora, and son-in-law Jay Stewart. Per Frank’s request, no memorial services will be held. Family members in Michigan will honor Frank by having a luncheon for family and friends Saturday, April 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. at his sister’s home, 102 E. Ellsworth, Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to cancer research in his name.
Auldra M. Zeitz
Auldra M. Zeitz, age 88, of Eaton Rapids, died Friday, January 21, 2005 at her residence following a long illness. Auldra was born November 30, 1916 in Albion, the daughter, of Leslie and Cecil (Scott) Schultz. Mrs. Zeitz was a retired Nurses Aid for the Eaton Rapids Medical Center and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, canning and was an excellent cook. Preceding her in death was her husband, William in 1967.
Surviving are her sister, Garda Houston of Eaton Rapids, several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Carol Oliver of Eaton Rapids.
Funeral services were held January 24, 12005 from the skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial followed in the Rosehill Cemetery. For those desiring g, memorial contributions may be made to the Grey Ladies at the Eaton Rapids Medical Center in memory of Auldra M. Zeitz.
Patricia Nobach-Zillgitt
Patricia Nobach-Zillgitt of Eaton Rapids and Gaylord, MI, passed away suddenly at the Gaylord Memorial Hospital on Friday, August 26, 2005. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 7 years, Ray Zillgitt, Sr., her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Patricia was born in Lansing the 3rd child of 9 children to Horance and Bernice Merlington. She married Gordon A. Nobach in 1950 and moved to their farm in Eaton Rapids, where she lived for 55 years. Her husband Gordon passed away in 1995. They were married for 45 years.
Patricia is survived by her adoring husband Ray Zillgitt, Sr., her 5 children and their families: Rick and Charlene, Steve and Sue, Randy, Kelly, Shann & Tracy (Nobach) Spence; her stepson Ray Jr., and Casey Zillgitt.
There will be a Memorial Mass held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Eaton Rapids. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or St. Jude. Cards will be available at the church.
Allen Zorn
Allen Zorn, age 47, of Owen, WI, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at his home.
He was born June 5, 1957 in Eton Rapids, MI to Alford and Joyce (Parks) Zorn. He worked for Dart container Corp., Mason, MI, before moving to Wisconsin in 1983. He was a supervisor for Abbotsford Produce for the past 15 years. Mr. Zorn enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing and playing darts.
Survivors include his fiancée, Angie Freeman, of Owen; his children, Leah Zorn, Athens, Curtis Zorn, Owen, and Brandon Butler, MI; one step-son, Joshua Rychtik, Athens; his mother, Joyce Crosby, Lansing, MI; a sister, Jeanne Crosby, Lansing, MI; and his Aunt and Uncle Don and Luella Walters of Curtiss, WI.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jack Crosby and grandmother Rev. LeahBelle Braley.
Funeral services were held January 21 at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, WI with the Rev. Carl Swarr presiding.
