Lucille Colestock
Lucille Colestock, 98, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Monday, July 25, 2005 in Charlotte.
Lucille was born March 18, 1907 in Grand Ledge, the daughter of Paul Myron and Addie L. (Dalius) Kebler. She was a member of the Mad Hatters Eaton Rapids Senior Center Band and the Ricking Chair Deserters; a Red Cross volunteer, serving as a Gray Lady at Eaton Rapids Community Hospital for 20 years; a weaver at Horner Woolen Mills, and retired from Eaton Stamping in 1977 after 20 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1969, and a brother, Myron Kebler, in 1977.
Lucille is survived by two sons, Donald (Randi) Colestock and Lee Colestock, both of Eaton Rapids; seven grandchildren, John (Colleen) Colestock, David (Lois) Colestock, Joseph Colestock, Pamela Colestock, Dr. Denise Colestock, Linda Colestock and Shelley Scarborough; 14 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren; sister, Iladene Urban of St. Johns; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services were held July 28 at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Jesse James officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Medical Care Facility or Eaton Rapids Senior Center.

Olive Collier
Olive Helen Collier passed away Tuesday Dec. 13, 2005 at her residence in Mulliken, at the age of 83. Olive was born Jan. 5, 1922 in Campbell Township, the daughter of Roy Jennings and Ruth (Winey) McRoberts.
She was a member of the Sunfield Church of the Brethren, the Ladies Aid, and the District Camp Board.
Mrs. Collier was preceded in death by both her parents, husband, Ralph Sells, and husband, Gordon Petyanus.
Surviving is her husband, Donald F. Collier, children, Robert Sells of St. Johns, V.I., Karen (Sheldon) Douglas of Muskegon, Roger Collier of Lansing, Dale (Ruth Ann) Collier of Vermontville, 14 grandhchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Howard (Betty) McRoberts of Rose, N.Y., Jean (Keith) Bergy of Caledonia, Marie (Duane) Deardorff of Lake Odessa, Roy (Geneva) McRoberts of W. Manchester, OH, D. Joe McRoberts of Caledonia.
Funeral services and a graveside committal services were held Dec. 16 at the Sunfield United Brethern Church with Rev. Mark E. Ralph and Rev. Mary Gault officiating.

Allen C. “Pete” Cook
Allen C. “Pete” Cook, age 84, of Eaton Rapids, died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at a Jackson Nursing Home.
He was born September 20, 1920 in Eaton Rapids, the son of James W. and Laura L. (Owen) Cook.
Pete served in the Navy during World War II and had retired in 1978 from Skill Trades for General Motors in Lansing.
After retirement Pete resided in Mesick, MI until returning to Eaton Rapids.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church, and the Eaton Rapids Senior Citizens where he participated in many activities and helped prepare and serve the monthly swiss steak dinners.
Pete was a former member of the Aurelius Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and enjoyed helping in the kitchen, especially cooking breakfast at the Sunrise Services.
Pete enjoyed traveling, being a Boy Scout leader and was an enthusiast of snowmobiling, square dancing, micro-midget racing, hunting, fishing, and in his earlier years golf and bowling.
Pete enjoyed the camaraderie of the World War II Vets, he attended annual submarine conventions until he was unable to attend due to failing health.
Pete enjoyed more than anything his family with canoe trips, golf outings and trips to visit his nieces.
Surviving are his former wife, Jean; 5 children, Gary (Cheri) Cook of Ferris, Linda Cook of Mesick, Ronald Cook of Mogollon, NM, Patricia (Jim) Swanson of Traverse City and Mike (Cindy) Cook of Eaton Rapids; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; 3 nieces, Darlin, Nancy and Susan; favorite cousin, Russ Owen & special friend, Millie Clark.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
Burial with military honors followed at the Greenwood Cemetery in Aurelius.

Barbara Cook
Barbara Cook, 73, of Charlotte, died Friday, March 18, 2005.
Mrs. Cook was born Jan. 20, 1932 in Big Rapids, the daughter of the late George Stephenson and the late Ruby (Ferguson) Stephenson. She was a teacher for 40 years, retiring in 1991.
She taught for 30 years at Lockwood Elementary School in Eaton Rapids, and also taught at Country Evans School, Lamie, Pray and Petrieville Country Schools.
She was a member of Chester Gospel Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher.
She also taught for Camp Ao-Wa-Kiya.
She was a member of the Holiday Rambler Club, West Chester Extension, and AARP.
She volunteered at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility, “Forgotten Man” Ministries at the Eaton County jail and at Eaton Area Senior Center.
She also was a treasurer for the Eaton County Association of Retired School Personnel.
In 1989 she was awarded the ABWA Woman of the Year.
She is survived by her husband, DeVere Cook; two sisters, Kathryn (Ned) Bosworth of Charlotte and Norma (Richard) Willbur of Marcellus; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held March 21 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Barry Smith and Pastor Marc Livingston officiating.
Interment was at Millerburg Cemetery, Charlotte.

Roger W. Cook
Roger William Cook, 60, of Charlotte, died Feb. 27, 2005.
Roger was born June 3, 1944 in Hastings, the youngest son of the late John W. and Doris (McBain) Cook.
He received horticultural and turf management degrees from university of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
He was passionate about golf.
At the age of 10, he built a nine-hole course on the family farm, using soup cans for “cups” and baby food jars for tee markers.
Roger played the game enthusiastically until health issues limited his play.
He was “keeper of the greens” for five years at Riverband G.C. in Hastings, three years at the former Butternut Brook in Charlotte and for 34 years at Charlotte Country Club.
He was never a boss but always a leader to the men he worked with and held in high esteem.
Known for his integrity, dry sense of humor and willingness to “go the extra mile,” Roger will be missed.
He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 34 years; sisters, Marie Barnes of Delton and Pat (Paul) Lancaster of Hastings; brother, Richard (Marjorie) Cook of N. Ft. Myers; and sisters-in-law, Chris (Ted) Fitzgerald, Colleen (Kent) Anderson and Corine (Michael) O’Heran.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John, in 1996.
Memorial mass was held March 12 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte, with Rev. Fr. Denis Spitzley officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Charlotte High School golf team.

Shane M. Copher
Shane M. Copher, 43, of Lansing, died Friday, May 20, 2005 at Ingham Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Copher was born Oct. 16, 1916 in Madrid, Spain, the son of James and Bonnie (Sharpe) Copher.
He was a mail handler with the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Ledge #2565 and the Beer Can Collectors of America.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Deborah (McMeen) Copher; stepson, Shawn Rosenbrook of Lansing; brothers, Faron of Mason, Scott (Dee) of Onondaga; and a sister, Lonnie (Kevin) Smith of Oscoda.
A gathering of family and friends was held May 23 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Patricia DeFabio
Patricia Marie DeFabio, 82, of Olivet, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005.
Mrs. DeFabio was born Dec. 24, 1922 in Wyandott, the daughter of Andrew and Blanche (Cutcher) Alexia.
She is survived by her husband, Louis DeFabio Jr.; sons, Luke (Paula) DeFabio of Charlottte, John DeFabio of Southgate; daughters, Penelope (Mike) Gibbons of River View, Shirley (Larry) Frederick of Wyandottte; sisters, Bernadette Springstead, Rita Sweeney, Doris Flint, Ozilda Saparov, Emily Barning, Catherine (Dale) Roush, Shirley (Dick) Lozon, Janet (Milford) Fitzpatrick, Grace Secon, Gladys Swift; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by parents Andrew and Blanche Alexia, and brother, Donald Alexia.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.
