Joanna Louise Baker
Joanna Louise Baker, age 56 of Eaton Rapids died Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte surrounded by her loving family. Born July 18, 1953 in Eaton Rapids the daughter of William E. and Betty Louise (Wright) Baker. Joanna grew up in Eaton Rapids and was part of the class of 1972. She retired in Maintenance with the Eaton Rapids Public Schools. She was fond of her pet dogs, enjoyed renovating her homes and loved gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by a Fiancé Larry Perdue of Eaton Rapids; son, Oliver Dean Bryant; 3 grandchildren, Cody Bryant of Lansing, Bobby Bryant of Tennessee and Carmine of Lansing; 5 brothers and sisters, Teresa (Howard) Hector of Eaton Rapids, Paul (Pat) Baker of Eaton Rapids, Mike (Jenny) Baker of Eaton Rapids, Kimberly (Robert) Cervantes of Vero Beach, Fl., and Thomas (Sarah) Baker of Eaton Rapids; lifetime and special friend Vicki Lease of Eaton Rapids; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is being scheduled soon at the Onondaga Sportsman’s Club. The family is being served through the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
Nathan H. “Pete” Baker
Nathan H. “Pete” Baker, age 83, passed away September 7, 2010 in Lansing, Michigan. He was born on July 31, 1927 in VanLeer, Tennessee, the son of Nat Hill Baker and Jessie Angeline Deason. He moved to the Lansing area with his parents at an early age.
Nathan was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Patrick Farrell, and by his wife of 42 years, Wilma Winona Baker. He is survived by two sons Richard Wayne (Debra) Farrell of Charlotte, Michigan and Dennis Lee (Colleen) Farrell of Columbia, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Nathan attended Carl School in East Lansing and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Lindell Drop Forge (where he acquired his nickname Pete) after 30 years of employment as a heater. A resident of Holt, Michigan for 53 years, he was a member of the Holt American Legion (Post 238). He spent his winters in Ruskin, Florida for over 30 years, where he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Aerie # 4351). He will be remembered by neighbors, friends and family as a very kind and generous man.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2:00 p.m. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Chapel Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Collyne M. Barnard
Collyne Marie Barnard, 50, of Sunfield, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010. She was born April 19, 1960 in Lansing, the daughter of Lawrence M. and Arlyne Marie (Miller) Ruedisueli. She was employed by Herbrucks Farm and was employed by Schwan’s as a driver for five years prior to that. She was a very strong person and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, animals, and riding her motorcycle.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; brother Christopher (Marcia) Ruedisueli of Nashville; sister, Patricia (Ruedisueli) Cook of Nashville; nieces and nephews, Michelle Ruedisueli, Dominik Stephens, Kyra-rein Stephens, Skylark Stephens, Jayden Stephens, Dustin Stephens, Carson Barnard, Josh Barnard, and Jessica Harwood.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence M. Ruedisueli; mother Arlyne Marie (Ruedisueli) Miller and brother, Michael E. Ruedisueli.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 16, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home in with Pastor Marten Saunders officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Linda Barnes
Linda Barnes of Eaton Rapids, age 63, passed away in Lansing, August 17, 2010. She was born November 24, 1946 in Albion, MI, the daughter of Charles H. and Hattie Irene (Stoner) Baker. Linda worked for the Dimondale Nursing Home for 19 years and Residential Options Adult Foster Care Home for 10 years. She loved to garden, make crafts, cook, crochet and attend yard sales. Linda was always a very happy and good natured person.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Michael) West of Eaton Rapids, Kimberly (Gary) Van Douser of Lansing; son, James (Annette) Barnes of Springport; grandchildren, Angel (Paul) Grondin of Auburn Hills, Thomas and Joshua Barnes of Springport, Aireon Montgomery of Eaton Rapids, Dylan West of Eaton Rapids; great-granddaughter, Monica Mae Barnes of Springport; lifelong companion, Dee Ames of Eaton Rapids; brothers, Jerry and Mark Rimer; sister, Darlene Easton. Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids, MI. Interment was held at Rosehill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
Alice A. Barr
Alice A. Barr, 92, a long time resident of Traverse City, died early Thursday morning, September 30, 2010, at Traverse Manor.
Born in Cedar, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Theresa (Rice) King. In 1938, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City, she married Harold B. Barr, who preceded her in death on April 5, 1983.
Alice was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church, where she participated in various activities, along with helping her friend, Sister Katherine.
She directed her bright mind and generous spirit to many organizations including Bunco Club, Quilters Club, Odd Ball Bowling Team and the Traverse City Senior Center. Alice enjoyed sewing, quilting, china painting, bowling, playing cards, bingo and gardening.
Alice was a gifted seamstress who worked at Bartling’s and the Marie Evelyn Shop, before working at the Traverse City Regional Psychiatric Hospital in the Occupational Therapy Department, retiring in 1984.
In 1947, Alice and Harold built their Traverse City home, where Alice had lived for nearly 63 years.
Alice is survived by her caring sons; Allen Barr of Eaton Rapids and Harold (Carol) Barr of Traverse City; four grandchildren, Natalie Johnson, Jennifer Barr, Terry Barr and Emily Harvey; five great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her sisters, Tillie Flaska, Rose Holt, Vera Ziolowski, Regina Gersh, Francis Stanislawski, and Mary King; brothers, Dominic, John, Clement and Edward.
Friends may ball at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Tuesday October 5, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at St. Francis Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Kenneth Stachnik serving as the celebrant. Burial will take place later at Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery.
In remembrance of Alice, memorials may be directed to the Carmelite Monastery. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home or church.

Brian S. Bartlett
The family of Brian S. Bartlett of Morrice, MI, formerly of Eaton Rapids, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 25, 2010. His wishes were to be cremated and to be with his wife (Penny Jean) who passed away on February 16, 2010.
Brian leaves to miss him so, 2 sisters, Kris (Doug) Koivu, Gail (Dennis) Southward; 1 brother, Bradley Bartlett; 2 sons, Mike (Missy) and Matthew; 1 daughter, Melissa (Dale); mother, Doris; 2 nieces, Angie (Darren) Green, Michelle (Ben) Northup; 1 nephew, Kyle Turner, also many great-grandnephews and niece, plus many more family and friends.

Roy Bartlett
Roy Bartlett, 67, of Charlotte, MI died Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Mr. Bartlett was born December 11, 1942 in Charlotte, MI the son of William and Ethel (Ackley) Bartlett.
He is survived by his wife, Karole, and their children, Shane (Dawn) Bartlett, Eric (Angel) Bartlett, Schad Bartlett, and Quentin Bartlett; grandchildren, Jordan, Quinten, Aaron, Miranda, Kaylee, Collin, Makkena, Hunter, Cameron, Aubrie, Briley; sisters, Shirley Bartlett, Dorothy (Duane) Winright, Carol (Dale) Garvie; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Aaron; daughter, Paula; and grandson, Joseph; parents; and brothers, Henry and Everett “Sass.”
Roy attended Charlotte High School and was employed by GM for 30 years. He enjoyed his motorcycles and spending time fishing. He loved being with his family and also enjoyed wintering in Florida with Karole.
A Memorial Luncheon will be held December 11, 2010 at 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Eagles in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice or Susan G. Komen. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Clyde D. “Pete” Bates
Age 77 of Eaton Rapids died on Saturday morning, May 15, 2010 with his wife of 54 years by his bedside. Pete was born on September 21, 1932 in Lake City, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Edith Pearl (Willis) Bates. Pete served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He worked 40 years as a Millwright for Fisher Boy in Lansing, retiring in 1995. Pete was a member of and past Trustee of the Brookfield United Methodist Church. Proceeding him in death was a great-grandson, Jakob Gates; 3 sisters, Nadine Bates, Maxine Bigelow and Naurine Rose.
Surviving are his wife Ardis; daughter, Beth (Ron) Knapp of Eaton Rapids; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Long of Lansing and Lindsey Knapp of Royal Oak; great-grandson, Henry Long; sister, Rosemary (Les) Doner of Iowa; 3 brothers, Arthur Bates of California, Willis (Steina) Bates of Georgia and Richard (Mavis) Bates of Virginia; Special cousin, Bruce Alexander of Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamlin Township, Eaton Rapids with rev. Irene Vittoz of the Brookfield United Methodist Church, officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Brookfield Church for a time of sharing and reminiscing.
