Jane E. Bearup
Jane E. Bearup, 80, of West Sacramento, Calif., died Thursday, September 16, 2010. She was born September 17, 1929 in Houghton, Mich., the daughter of Edmund and Edith (Perkins) Gonyea. Jane was a U.S. Matron for the United States Marshall Service and she lovingly raised two granddaughters Tracey and Christina.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory Bearup of West Sacramento, Calif., and Randall (Patty) Bearup of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandson; brothers, Reverend James (Corky) Gonyea of Tennessee and Joseph Gonyea of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Bearup and daughter Judith Bearup.
Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Audrey Jean Bellows
Audrey Jean Bellows passed away peacefully on March 25, 2010 at her home in Cottonwood, Arizona. Born in Eaton Rapids, Michigan on May 3, 1925, she was preceded in death by her parents, Van and Thelma Webster, her eldest son, John W Bellows, and grandson, Tyson Van Hoster.
She is survived by her husband Harry Bellows of Eaton Rapids; sisters, Patricia Miller (Kenneth), of Bradenton Florida, and Jacqueline Yund (Gaylord), of Eaton Rapids, daughter Jenny Bellows of Cottonwood, Arizona, and son H. Greg Bellows (Elaine) of Eaton Rapids. She is also survived by grandchildren Benjamin Bellows (Nichole), Joshua Barrett (Amy), Nathan Bellows (Melissa), Abigail Childs (William), Jason Barrett (Barbra), Andrew Bellows, Amy Ellyson, Eli Hoster, and Kim Hoster. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Having grown up and completing school in Eaton Rapids, class of 1943, Audrey attended Western Michigan College before marriage. As a young woman, she worked at Homer Woolen Mills, and as a receptionist for Dr. Bert Van Ark. On Dec. 18, 1948, she married Harry Bellows and continued her life as mother and wide as they raised their family on the farm that remains in the family. The day her youngest child started school, Audrey started her career with the State of Michigan Highway Department, in September 1956. It was the heyday of building big bridges (Mackinaw), and interstate highway system. She enjoyed her work and the life-long friends. Retiring in 1983, her attentions turned more to family and especially grandchildren. Her efforts will be long remembered in the form of hand stitched quilted given to all her children and grandchildren, the many card games, and fun times at the family farm, as well as winter vacations to her retirement home in Florida. In the spring of 1999, Audrey moved to Cottonwood, Arizona to live near her daughter and to enjoy the great Southwest sun. There, she found new friends and feeling of community that enriched her life.
Memorial services will be held on April 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Community Christian Church in Eaton Rapids, reverend Steve Klink officiating. Following the service, all are welcome to enjoy food and fellowship at the River Bend Restaurant. The family suggests memorial donations be given to your local Meals on Wheels, whose volunteer angels deliver hot meals to the elderly and disabled.
Pete Edward Benton
Passed away in Charlotte, November 25, 2010 at the age of 50. He was born in Charlotte August 20, 1960 the son of Lynwood G. “Pete” and Doris M. (Marlowe) Benton. Pete graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1978. He married Sharon Minnie in 1992. Pete worked for GM and retired in 2008 after 31 years of service. He loved sports, coaching, snowmobiling and spending time with his family. Pete was very proud of his daughters and cheered them on at all of their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Minnie) Benton of Eaton Rapids; daughters, Brooke Elizabeth and Payton Lynn Benton, both of Eaton Rapids; parents, Lynwood and Doris Benton of Vermontville; brother, Mark (Pamela) Benton of Potterville; sister, Lynne Goris of Vermontville; nieces, Tori Benton of Potterville, Stacie (Mike) Selden of Parchment, MI; nephew, Eric Goris of Grand Rapids; and special bud, Rollo.
A memorial service celebrating Pete’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday December 4, 2010 at Robbins United Methodist Church, 6419 W. Bunker Rd. Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Mark Payne officiating. Visitation will be Friday December 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Cochran Rd. Larry Brian Bibler
Larry Brian Bibler of Eaton Rapids passed away suddenly in his home on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Donna Bibler. Larry had been employed by many local area ambulance services and also served as a volunteer fire fighter.
Larry is survived by his son, Jason Bibler of Pennsylvania; daughter, Amy Barnes of Ohio; sister , Linda (Bob) Riever of Albion; brothers, Bert (Robin) Bibler, Sam (Tracy) Bibler of Springport, Steve (Melissa) Bibler of Portage; special companion, Susan Norris of Eaton Rapids; son, Dustin Norris and grandson Dillion Norris both of Eaton Rapids.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date at the Springport Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Shelley-Odell Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. .
Paul Binkowski
Paul Binkowski, 82, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 13, 2010. He was born July 1, 1928 in Charlotte, the son of Martin and Anna (Poskarbiewicz) Binkowski. Paul was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired truck driver. He was a member of Charlotte VFW and I.O.O.F. Lodge #114 of Eaton Rapids. Paul enjoyed old country music and old cars. He loved his family and was loved by them very much. Paul said, “Until we are all reunited I will be watching over you all, and will always love you all.”
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis; daughters, Cathy Bennett, Cindy Hiser and Paula (Gregg) Gielecki; grandchildren, Shawn (Josh) Hose, Rachelle Hiser, Brandon and Jeremy Truax; great grandson, Aleks Hose; sisters, Irene Betz and Shirley (Pete) Tillery; four brothers, many nieces and nephews, cousins and Aunt Helen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Martin; sister, Elizabeth; brother, Russ and son-in-law, Mike Bennett.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.
Janice Joyce Blanche
Janice Joyce Blanche, 73, died, May 31, 2010. Mrs. Blanche was born August 24, 1936, in Plattsburg, NY.
Mrs. Blanche was good-hearted and put herself out for everyone. She had more love than she knew what to do with. She was funny and quick-witted. She lived for bowling. She was the secretary of the Top of the Hill League and Tea Time League. She and her husband owned Parkview Adult Foster Care in Vermontville for six years.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Duane Blanche; daughter LuAnn (Jeffrey) Frazzini of Lansing; sons, Charles (Yung Jung) Hallead of Georgia, Jeffrey Hallead of Chicago; step-children George (Robin) Blanche, Mark Blanche and Diane (Jerry) Cox; 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Mary Jean Carnill and Velma Martin. She is preceded in death by her brother, Butch Martin and mother, Sylvia Martin.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at Pray Funeral Home. . Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI.
Thelma O. Bonham
Thelma O. Bonham, of Charlotte, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Eaton Community Hospice House. Services will be held Monday, February 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Hazel L. Bourdo
Hazel L. Bourdo, 84, of Sturgis, formerly of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010. She was a homemaker. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Edna A. Boyer
Edna A. Boyer, age 86, died Saturday, May 8, 2010. Mrs. Boyer was born December 15, 1923 in Liverpool, England, a daughter of Robert and Jane (Curtis) Davies. She was a registered nurse and retired from Michigan State University.
Mrs. Boyer was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Boyer, Jr. in 2004. Surviving are three sons, Wayne Boyer of Clearwater Beach, Fl, Robert (Ann) Boyer of Brimley, Ronald (SueEllen) Boyer of Potterville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Gwen Williams, and a brother, Robert Davies, both of Liverpool, England.
Services 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Potterville Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Glen L. Neal officiating. Interment will be in Benton Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale.
Vernon D. Boyles
Vernon Duane Boyles, 89, of Charlotte, MI died Thursday, May 27, 2010. He was born March 1, 1921 in Vermontville, the son of Albert and Bethel (Rogers) Boyles.
He is survived by his wife, Elva, and his children: Judith (Gary) Walters of Charlotte; and JoAnne (Tom) Fogle of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Vaun Boyles.
Vernon was a retired farmer and had been active in various organizations such as: Farm Bureau Co-op Elevator, Eaton County Zoning & Planning Commission, Eagles Aerie 3552, Thornapple Grand Soil District Director and Eaton County Allocation Board. He was a member of the Lawrence Avenue Methodist Church and was the Carmel Township Supervisor for nine years.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Jensen officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
