Becky J. Colombo
Becky Jean Colombo, 47, of Charlotte, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, April 15, 2010.
Mrs. Colombo was born Aug. 24, 1962, in Charlotte, the daughter of Bruce and Jean (Carter) Fuller.
Becky was supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and a wonderful homemaker.
She was a great hostess with a love for entertaining, loved to go camping and enjoy the long lazy tube rides down the river.
She was very active in the Charlotte Assembly of God Bus Ministry. She worked at Jackson National Life for 10 years.
She is survived by her loving husband, John; beautiful daughters, Sara (Ryan) Bier, Amber (Stephen) Kaleward, and Loma Colombo (fiancé, Konrad Miller); Peter Sloan, who was like a son; grandchildren, Kaeden and Grace Kaleward; father, Bruce (Donna) Fuller’ brother, Michael (Karen) Fuller; aunt, Connie (Herb) Ames; and countless other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 19, at the Charlotte Assembly of God with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Nathalie Julia Colthorp
Nathalie Julia Colthrop of Eaton Rapids, age 82, passed away in Charlotte, November 21, 2010. She was born in Corona (Queens), Long Island, NY, the daughter of Michael and Ava (Hunter) Tonkonogy. Nathalie worked as a Children’s Librarian for the Lansing Public Library. She also had her own Sunday morning storytelling program on WJIM Radio, and a public access cable TV show, “A Story, A Story”. She retired in 1988 after more than 40 years of service. Nathalie continued to work as a substitute librarian for several years after her retirement. She loved her cats and all other creatures, enjoyed reading, collecting doll house miniatures, nature, science, Egyptology, and world travel, having visited, among other places, the Pyramids and the Great Wall of China.
Nathalie is survived by her husband, Theodore (“Ted”) Colthorp; daughters Alyce (Gordon) MacDougall Vollmar of Chillicothe, OH; Barbara
Jean (Terry) Hanson of Charlotte, MI; grandchild, Dena Lillian Sanders of Lansing; special niece and nephew Ava (William) Frisinger of Issaquah, WA and Robert (Diane) MacDougall of Huntley, IL; step-children, Terri Johnson of Eaton Rapids, Todd (Michelle) Cholthorp of Haslett, Timothy (Jill) Colthorp of Grand Rapids, Janet Bozeman of Eaton Rapids, James (Susanne) Colthorp of Eaton Rapids, Elizabeth (Mark) Trawczynski of Eaton Rapids; numerous other dear nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 11 am Saturday, December 18, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 600 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements were entrusted to the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids. Contributions in Nathalie’s memory may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Alberta J. Command
Alberta J. Command, 90, of Nashville, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010. No services will be held.
Annette S. Cooper
Annette S. Cooper, age, 59, of Eaton Rapids died Saturday, March 27, 2010 unexpectedly at her home. Born August 24, 1950 in Eaton Rapids the daughter of Donald and Dora (Williams) Chapman. Annette graduated from the Eaton Rapids High School in 1968. She worked 30 years in Parts Supply for General Motors retiring in January of 2007. She had a devoted work ethic at General Motors and with her local union the UAW local #1753 in Lansing. Annette loved animals, crossword puzzles, gardening, watching football and her neighbors. She was a strong supporter of Eaton Rapids School Athletics and loved music of all kinds especially Motown. Preceding her in death was her father, Donald.
She is survived by her son, William Gabriel “Gabe” Cooper of Eaton Rapids; mother, Dora Chapman of Eaton Rapids; brother, Stephen Chapman of Eaton Rapids; lifelong friend and father of her son, Charles Cooper of Springport; her fuzzband, Boots; and Daisy May, BeeBee, Dude and Olivia; several nieces and nephews, aunt and uncle.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Max Williams, officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Humane Society in memory of Annette Cooper.
Don Copeland
On August 11, 2010, our 1st born son, Don Copeland, went home to be with his Lord after a courageous fight with cancer. Born July 24, 1968, he was the oldest son of Hershel and Connie Copeland and Chris and Linda Wilkes.
He is survived by his one true love, Misti Begeman, her children, Brielle and Richelle, whom he thought of as his own; his five brothers, Scott (Cherise), Mike (Missy), Joe (Dawn), Jesse and Cody. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Waiting for Donnie in his eternal home are his grandparents, Walter and Avene Copeland, Albert Duell and Mr. and Mrs. Hoadley.
For those of you that know Donnie, he had a passion for bowling which was proven by having (2) “300” games. He also loved anything to do with computers and would help anyone who needed his expertise. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
Services for Don have already been held.
Merle D. Corbin
Merle D. Corbin of Delton passed away February 6, 2010. Merle was born on December 212, 1930 to John Eldred and Anne (DeClercq) Corbin in Eaton Rapids MI. Merle worked at Union Camp and retired from Southern Container in Lancaster, PA as maintenance superintendent. He served his country in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He helped establish the Micro Midget race track in Eaton Rapids. His hobbies were fishing, bowling, driving race cars, collecting antique clocks, boxing, auctions, playing cards and reading and watching NASCAR. He was married to Leota Carpenter Corbin on November 3, 1953. They had 56 years together.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, Karen Baty of Kalamazoo, Carol Pilmore of Elkhart, IN; son, Mark Corbin of PA; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Vincent of Lansing; sister-in-law, Connie Corbin and nieces and nephews. Special friends Larry and Marie Mony, Amanda and TJ Risner, Gerry and Diane Reau, Bernie and Karen Wilcox, Bob Finch of El Paso, TX and many dear friends in Lancaster, PA and others. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dan; son-in-laws, Jerry Pilmore and Mike Baty.
At his request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. Arrangements by Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society, Schoolcraft.
Sylvester C. Cornwell
Sylvester C. “Vet” Cornwell, 86, of East Leroy, died Jan. 14, 2010 at Battle Creek Health System.
He was born March 19, 1923, the son of Joseph and Clarissa (Spencer) Cornwell in Battle Creek.
After serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees, Vet returned to work for Michigan Bell Telephone as an installer and repairman in Bellevue and Olivet for 40 years, retiring in 1982.
Vet was a member of the Pioneers and enjoyed reading, fishing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Florence, Marie, Pauline, Carol and Muriel and brothers, Clayton and Earl.
Vet is survived by his wife, Bernita (Spaulding) Cornwell; sons, Carl Joe (Nancy) Cornwell of Pickford, Mich., James C. (Cathie) Cornwell of Okeechobee, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and sister, Gertrude Beard of Battle Creek.
Graveside services took place Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue with Pastor Virginia Heller, Bellevue United Methodist Church, officiating.
The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home.
Charles D. Crabtree
Charles Darrah Crabtree, 83, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at his home in Eaton Rapids surrounded by his family and friends on Friday, March 12, 2010. Mr. Crabtree was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Robert Darrah and Ardith M. (Reed) Crabtree.
Mr. Crabtree was retired as a truck driver for Dowding Tools. Mr. Crabtree loved to fish, hunt and do crossword puzzles.
He married Betty Lou Powers June 27, 1949.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Lou in 2007; and siblings: June Friend, Dale Crabtree, Elenor Waldron and Elsie Hine.
He is survived by daughters, Sharon (Troy) Foster, Lou Ann (James) Primm; sons, Charles (Deb), Dale and Norman; 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; and siblings, Hazel Bourdo, Reva Welker, Leo (Patricia) Youngs.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Reverend Charles Jensen officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo Township.

Sue A. Crews
Sue A. Crews, 68, of Charlotte, died Monday, May 24, 2010. She was born August 11, 1941 in Charlotte, the daughter of Ralph and Peggy (Ryan) Jane.
She is survived by her husband, Gary, and their children; Tammy (David) Partridge of Cedar Springs, Mich., Tracy (James) Bishop of Charlotte and Gary (Colleen) Crews of Baltimore, Md.; her mother, Peggy Jane; brothers, Bill (Bonnie) Jane of Perry, John (Linda) Jane of Charlotte; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Jane and twin brother, Donald Jane.
Sue was an avid MSU fan who loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, with Pastor Darwin Kuhl officiating.
