Willard W. Fox
Willard W. Fox, 90, of Eaton Rapids, passed away at his home on April 8, 2010. He was born April 1, 1920 in Charlotte, to Jesse and Beatrice (Lightner) Fox.
He lived in Kalkaska, Mich., for many years where he met his bride of 68 years, Winifred Maxine Cross. Willard was a farmer, refrigeration/maintenance man for Miller Dairy Farms for 26 years and retired from Ingham Regional Medical Center in 1993 as a power plant operator. He enjoyed working side by side with his wife, farming, raising sheep and chickens and giving away and selling eggs and hay.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the kind and loving support from McLaren Hospice, especially Joan, Missy and Stephany. They would also like to thank Willard’s caregivers, Mark Whitaker and family, Steve Murray, Ralph Murray, Lynette Allen, Frank Jonson, Tiffany Rich and Jackie Johnson. Mary nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors will miss his witty sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Winifred in 2008. Willard is survived by his son, Dean (Nancy) Box of Wheatfield, Ind.; grandson, troy (Dawn) Fox; granddaughter, Tina (Ed) Harrington; great-grandchildren, Zachary Fox, Stefani Giebudowski, Devin and Teri Harrington; brother, Dale (Mary) Fox of Eaton Rapids; nieces, Janice (Gary) Mahan of Eaton Rapids and Carolyn Goff of Florida. Funeral services were held Monday, April 12, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Minister Lonnie Cox officiating. Interment was at Dimondale Cemetery.

Illah J. French
Illah J. French, 85, of Nashville, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010. Mrs. French was born July 22, 1925 in Evart, Mich., the daughter of Frank and Susan Agnes (Church) Carpenter.
Mrs. French was formerly employed by Maple Valley Pharmacy as a pharmacy clerk.
Mrs. French is predeceased by two grandchildren; her brother Orby Carpenter, Howard “Howdie” (Laurel) Carpenter, Berton (Mary) Carpenter, Rholland “Archie” (Cora) Carpenter, Lawrence “Frecks” (Tonie) Carpenter; sisters, Sarah “Iona” (John), Francis “Francie” (Norma), Alice (Oscar), Oren (Dorothy); sister-in-law, Patricia Carpenter, and brother, Harry. She is survived by her husband, Lyle French; her daughters, Christine (Ronald) Robins, Sharon (Michael) Nault and her son Abe (Angela) French; grandchildren, Gary (Nicole) Cox, Patrick (Tonya) Robins, Austin French, Erin French, Amber (Dylan) Frashier, Jesilyn (Nathan) Shelton, Amanda Robins; step-grandchildren, Kristen Sprague, Colleen Nault, Joseph Parson; six great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons; brothers John Carpenter, Edwin (Frances) Carpenter; sister-in-law, Evelyn Carpenter and brother, Bruce (Mick) (Janet) Carpenter.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Reverend Charles Jensen officiating.

Lyle W. French
Lyle W. French, 89, of Nashville, died Tuesday March 23, 2010. Mr. French was born Jan. 26, 1921 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Robert and Ethel (Humphrey) French.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Illah in 2010; two grandchildren; parents; brothers TJ (Minerva) French, Alfred French; sisters, Elva (Orlo) Jersey, Lula Cora (Clarence) Whitmore, Pearl (Philo) Squired, Helena (Russell) Jordan, Nyla (Walters) Hughes and Martha (Charles) Miller.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine (Ronald) Robins, Sharon (Michael) Nault; son, Abe (Angela) French; grandchildren, Gary (Nicole) Cox, Patrick (Tonya) Robins, Austin French, Erin French, Amber (Dylan) Frashier, Jesilyn (Nathan) Shelton, Amanda Robins; step-grandchildren, Kristen Sprague, Colleen Nault, Joseph Parsons; six great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons and sister-in-law, Marie French.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Reverend Charles Jensen officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. just prior to the service.

Richard “Butch” Fuller
We lost our best friend, dad, brother, uncle, ‘Papa’, Richard “Butch” Fuller on December 8, 2010 at the age of 61. He fought a courageous battle against Melanoma of the eye, liver and lungs. He loved life and had a passion for the Spartans, softball, golfing, guitar, cars, politics, camping and boating. He was a proud member of Cheap Shot Pool and Golf League. He was born on May 3, 1949 in Hudson, MI and graduated from Everett High School in 1967. He said many times that he lived a ‘happy, good life with no regrets’ in Eaton Rapids, MI. He spent a lot of time on Drummond Island enjoying the great outdoors with friends and family. He was a well respected, retired Sheet Metal Worker and Business Manager for local #7 out of Lansing, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Smith and Abbott Fuller; step-father, Eldon ‘Smitty’.
Richard is survived by his loving family; girlfriend, Kelley Cook; son, Sam Fuller (Debbie, Alysa, Samantha); daughter, Shelly Proebstle (Mark, Allison, Jack, Valerie); sister, Janet Willeford (Haskell, Susan, Morris, Shannon, Mark, Marci, Samantha); step-mother, Nancy. Our small family is close and will miss him dearly along with his many, many close friends.
A casual ‘celebration of life’ will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 3-7pm at Chisholm Hills Golf Club 2395 Washington Rd. Lansing, MI 48911. Natalie M. Gaedert
Natalie M. Gaedert, 84, of Higgins Lake, formerly of Vermontville, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at her home. She was born April 20, 1925, the daughter of Vern and Iva (Williams) Reed. Natalie married Donald J. Gaedert on July 7, 1942 in Vermontville. Natalie was a secretary for Auto Owners Insurance in Vermontville for five years and at Maple Valley High School in Vermontville for eight years. She was a member of the Vermontville United Methodist Church and loved knitting, sewing, reading and crossword puzzles. Her greatest love was raising her family.
Natalie is survived by her husband, Don; five children, Harold (Lori) Gaedert of Higgins Lake, Patti (Coley) Gordon of Flushing, John (Roxie) Gaedert of Charlotte, Steve Gaedert of Lansing and Kathy (Paul) Spasoff of Prudenville; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Vern (Marilyn) Reed of Hale; sister Joyce Reed of Vermontville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandchildren Becky Gaedert and Tammy Gaedert.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 4 p.m. at Walsh Funeral Home in Roscommon with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Higgins Lake.

Pansy L. Gardner
Pansy L. Gardner, 87, of Bellevue, died Saturday, September 18, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 17, 1923 in Allegan County to William and Loretta (Fox) Gilger. She graduated from Wayland High School in 1940. Pansy married Frank E. Pettit on April 19, 1942, which later ended in divorce. She then married Elmer M. Gardner in Kalamazoo, Mich. On March 19, 1948. They moved to the Bellevue area in 1950. Elmer died in November of 1993. Pansy worked at Otto’s clothing store in Bellevue for many years and was the Bellevue Village and Township Treasurer for several years until retiring in 1988.
Pansy is survived by a daughter, Judy (Pettit) and Vito Ragusa of Battle Creek; three sons, Charles (Kris) Gardner of Battle Creek, Brad (Emma) Gardner of Battle Creek and Rick (Debra) Gardner of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Near of Hastings and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Alan Love; a great-grandson, Bryce Balfour; a sister, Hilda Beckwith and six brothers, Dale, Leroy, Hollis, Ray, Clair, and George Gilger.
Pansy will always be remembered for her wonderful baking and cooking, as well as her sewing.
The family would like to thank Bobbi Easter and her staff at W Drive North Assisted Living for their tender loving care of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother during her last days.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Bellevue United Methodist Church, 122 West Capitol Avenue in Bellevue with Pastor Virginia Heller officiating. Interment took place in Floral Lawn Cemetery in Battle Creek.
Memorial contributions may be made to W. Drive North Assisted Living or the Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel in Bellevue.
Edward H. Garvey
Edward Henry Garvey went to be with his Lord at the age of 83 on Jan. 6, 2010. He died peacefully at his Centennial Farm in Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Della (Fhaner) Garvey and granddaughter, Bella Blankinship.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Anna (Spagnuola) Garvey; stepson, Sam Baldino; daughter, Laurie (T. Scott) Blankinship and granddaughters, Bethany, Andrea and Olivia Blankinship.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Charlotte, with Rev. Rather Francis Mossholder officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church building fund.
David H. George
David H. George, 76, of Hastings, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Dave was born Jan. 26, 1934 in Charlotte, the son of Hendry and Virginia (Kelner) George and had been a Hastings area resident for 37 years. He was a 1952 Graduate of Charlotte High School, had served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan during the Korean War and was a member of the AMVETs and the Elks. He was a longtime farmer and truck driver and mostly recently had driven for the Barry County Transit Authority.
Surviving are: his son, Jace (Sandy) George of Wyoming, Mich.; two grandchildren, Zachary and Christopher George; great granddaughter, Emma Grace George and two brothers, Thomas J. George of Middleville, Mich. And Bruce Carpenter of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, Carolyn (Rundle) George in 2008 and a son, Todd Clell George in 2000.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Olivet Cemetery in Olivet, with John Cohoon officiating.
