Betty M. Goff
Betty M. Goff, 86, of Eaton Rapids, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Juan Antonio “John” Gonzalez
Juan Antonio “John” Gonzalez, age 64, passed away on April 29, 2010 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born in Laredo, Texas and graduated from Gabriels Catholic High School in Lansing, MI. Juan served 2 tours in Vietnam as a Marine and in 1997 retired from the Meridian Township Police Department after 25 years of service. He was reintroduced to a Jr. High friend, Judy Hoisington and later married her. He and Judy opened their home to numerous foster children over the years and added something to all of their lives. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and devotion to his family and friends. He spent much of his time golfing, bowling, playing with his grandchildren and sharing time with family and friends. His strength and courage to handle whatever life had in store is one of his many attributes.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Judy; parents, Patricio and Julia Gonzalez; mother-in-law, Alice Hoisington; siblings, Ramona (Clio) Ruiz, Molly (Robert) Almazan, Julie (Javier) Cavazos, Patricio (Betty) Gonzalez, Tomas (Kim) Gonzalez; children, Michelle (Mark) Chappell, Theresa (Salvador) Tellez III, Michael (Amy) Smith; grandchildren, Allan, Harley and Dustin Chappell, Melissa (Mike) Lee, Adam, Ian and Averie Tellez, Chris, Nick and Brad Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and loyal dog Timmy.
Services were held May 3, 2010. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice.
Leone J. Gordon
Leone J. Gordon, 88 of Charlotte, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility. Leone was born October 25, 1921 in Roxand Township, Eaton County, the daughter of Ivan and Ruth (Smock) Haddix and had lived most of her life in Charlotte. She was a 1940 graduate of Charlotte High School, had been employed in the Charlotte City Clerk’s Office and later Michigan National Bank form where she retired after 18 years of service. She served as a Red Cross volunteer at Hayes Green Beach Hospital was a life member and Past Matron of the Charlotte O.E.S. #218, was a past Grand Chaplain of the O.E.S. State of Michigan, and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Charlotte and an avid bowler.
She is survived by: four children, Doug (Cyndy) Cove of Holt, Linda (Jack) Raymond of Kalamazoo, Deb (Dave) Townsend of Plainwell and John (Shirley) Cove of Bakersfield, Calif.; grandchildren, Jason, Joel, Celena, Carli, Tierza, Sean, Sara, Erinn, Kelly, Nick and Josh; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, sister, Edna Mitchell and life long friends, Herb and Gladys Stacey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, Carl Gordon; son, David; twin sister, Ione Green, sister, June Emerson, brother, Junior Haddix and first husband, Robert Cove.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Philip Hobson officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Carrie Bloom Honduras Missionary Trip in care of Doug Cove, 2376 West Blvd., Holt, MI 48842. The family of Leone Gordon would like to extend special thanks to the Eaton County Medical Care Facility staff and volunteers for their loving care.
Margaret Goszulak-Pickett
Margaret “Sue” Goszulak-Pickett, 51, of Charlotte, died Monday, July 26, 2010. A private family service and interment will be held.
Michael L. Graham
Michael L. Graham, age 63, died Thursday evening, November 4, 2010, at a Lansing Hospital.
Michael was born July 22, 1947, in Lansing, a son of Wm. and Beatrice (Secord) Graham. He was a retired Michigan Bell Telephone employee and an Army Vietnam veteran. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pennie Sharp. Surviving are his wife, Pam; three children, Jeannie (Jerry) Crall of Charlotte, Todd (Martice) Davis of Potterville and Brandy (Mark) Weinner of Charlotte; 7 grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters, Jennie (Al) Broemer of Ruskin, FL, Jay (Aggie) Graham of Eagle, Bill (Joan) Graham, Jr. of Lansing, Nora (Jack) Sharp of Eaton Rapids, Kim (Rhonda) Graham of Dimondale, Byron Graham of Mason and Eddie (Shelia) Graham of Grand Ledge; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held 2 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010, at Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale, with Rev. Rebecca Morrison of the Potterville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Dimondale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Larry M. Gregg
Larry M. Gregg, 61, of Battle Creek and formerly of Charlotte, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born May 9, 1948, in Charlotte, to Murl and Darleen (Finch) Gregg.
Larry was a 1966 graduate of Charlotte High School and served in the U.S. Army 1968-1970. He graduated from Flint Barber School in 1971. Larry was employed for 38 years, from 1971 to the present, at The Hair Shed in downtown Battle Creek.
Surviving are his sister, Norma Etson of Charlotte; five nieces and nephews, his Hair Shed family, his numerous customers and friends.
An open house in memory of Larry will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at “The Hair Shed”, 68 E. Michigan Ave., Battle Creek. Larry’s cremated remains will be interred on his family’s lot at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Roland R. Gurk
Roland D. and Betty L. Gurk became parents of a baby boy on October 3, 1947 in Lansing. Boy Scouts was his youthful passion. He graduated from Everett High School and attended a Chicago drafting school and LCC. His life included being a co-owner of a business, working at Kraft Foods, LCC, and the Secretary of State.
Roland married Diane Hunt on October 3, 1970, and they had three children. After 28 years at his state position, he retired in 2002. He was proud of his accomplishments. Roland was a visionary and a self-taught man. He died on August 28 at the age of 62, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents.
Surviving are his loving wife Dianne; children, Christopher (Bethany), Matthew and Susan; grandchildren, Hunter and Seth Gurk; siblings, Gary (Linda), Glen (Sue), Roy, Dalena (Richard) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior, at Grace Bible Church, 1000 S. Canal, Lansing, MI with the Pastor Robert Talley officiating. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to Grace Bible Church or Eaton Community Hospice, 2576 S. Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI.
G. Francis (Fritz) Hamilton
A Memorial Service for G. Francis (Frit) Hamilton will be held on July 9, 2011 at the Felt Plains United Methodist Church, 3489 Meridian Rd., East of Leslie, at 11:00 am., followed by a luncheon. Internment of cremains will be at 2:00 pm. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leslie. Fritz passed away on December 24, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille, his parents Thady and Grace, sisters Shirley and Ila Gene, brothers Harold (Helen) and Harry (Marion) and daughters-in-law Margaret (Marge) and Marilyn and great grandson, Robert. He is survived by his daughter Esther (Jerry) Jackson, sons Garth Frank, Sr., Gerald (Shirley), and John; sister-in-law, Lois Karn and brother-in-law David (Joyce) Karn; twelve grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Felt Plains United Methodist Church or Great Lakes Hospice.
Hazel Moore Hamilton
Hazel Moore Hamilton age 89, formerly of Charlotte, MI, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 in LaGrange. Hazel was a retired beautician having owned her own beauty shop for 40 years in Charlotte.
She was born in Carmel Township the daughter of Ernest and Sarah (Fowler) Davis.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Robert Bruce Moore in 1970 and second husband, Frank Hamilton in 1994 and her sister, Ailene Deland in 2009. Surviving is: her daughter, Joy (Terry) Sowles of Battle Creek; son, Terry (Nancy) Moore of Kendallville, IN; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte. Interment was in the Millerburg Cemetery. Memorials may go to the Parkinson Foundation or the charity of your choice.
