Michael L. Hamp
Michael L. Hamp, 50, of Charlotte, passed away October 29, 2010. Mike graduated from Charlotte High school in 1978. After school, Michael served in the Air force and later moved to California, living in Los Angeles. He loved the mountains and moved to Wrightwood, Calif., where he operated his own handyman business for many years. Returning to Michigan, he lived and worked in Algonac, Freeport and Charlotte where he was employed by Spartan Chassis, working on the military line and finally with Ryder Logistics of Lansing. Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors with family and friends, fishing, camping and bike riding.
He was preceded in death by father, Gordon Lee Hamp.
He is survived by mother Shirley (Jerry) Krevinghaus of Kentucky, sister, Dana (Don) Ulrey, brothers, Gregory Hamp of Kansas and Daniel (Dee) Hinnman of Kentucky.
A family service will be held at a later date.
Harold J. Hanna
Harold James Hanna, of Sunfield, passed away with his family by his side Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 in Lansing, at the age of 91. He was born March 13, 1918, the son of Earl and Millie (Cure) Hanna.
Harold married Maude Cayton Sept. 5, 1937. The couple was married 43 years, and then Harold married Valerie May Oct. 3, 1981, and they were married 29 years. He was the founder and owner of Hanna’s Meat Locker Service and enjoyed serving the Sunfield area for many years. He was a 32 degree F & AM Mason life member, charter member of the Sunfield Lions Club, past president of the Meat Packers association of Michigan, past Sunfield School Board member; he along with Larry Mapes were the main ring leaders for the ox roast at the Farmers Picnic, and enjoyed teaching and passing the torch for its newest members. He also enjoyed attending both the Sunfield United Methodist Church, and the Lakewood United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maude (Cayton) Hanna in 1980; and a brothers, Ray in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie; children, Sonya (Larry) Davis, Karen (John) Miller, Mary Jane (Kermit) Hanna-Smith, and Mark (Mary) Hanna; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at the Sunfield United Methodist Church with Rev. David L. Flagel and Rev. Jeffrey J. Schrock officiating with a Masonic service that followed. Interment was in the Sunfield Cemetery.

Vincent Patrick Hannon
Vincent P. “Vince” Hannon, 88, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Dimondale/Eaton Rapids, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, Fla. after a short illness. Vince was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Sommerville, New Jersey.
Vince was a WWII veteran. He worked for Miller Dairy and Allied Products in Eaton Rapids, prior to going to the State of Michigan where he retired as an electrician in 1987.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Barbara Hannon; his children, Susan (James) Sayed and James (Julie) Hannon of Eaton Rapids; son-in-law Gary Strank of Iowa; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and brother, Frank (Betty) Hannon of Fanwood, New Jersey. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Joe, John and Bill Hannon; and daughter Carol Strank.
Per his wishes he has been cremated and there were no funeral services.
Ronald Earl Harkins
Ronald Earl Harkins of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Palmetto, FL, age 89, passed away in Jackson, August 21, 2010. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, December 17, 1920 the son of Earl and Alta (French) Harkins. Ronald worked for Wright Construction in Lansing for 17 years before switching over to the Mitchell Bentley Plant in Owosso where he worked for 10 years. Ronald later retired in 1979 from Spartan Road Construction in Lansing after serving 9 years with them. He built a boat and flew model airplanes. Ronald was a jack of all trades and he could fix anything, including refinishing his own basement while in a cast.
He is survived by his daughters, Sheryl (Dale) Adams of Duboise, PA, Terry (Charles) Milbourn of Eaton Rapids; granddaughters, Paige Tomkinson of Indiana, PA, Nicole (Joseph) Decker of Brooklyn, MI; great granddaughter, Madelaine Schultz of Brooklyn, MI. Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Harkins; parents; brother, RJ Harkins and sister, Marie Crawford.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids, MI 48827. Pastor Daniel Hofmann officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3315 Pennsylvania Ave Lansing, MI 48910.
John “Jack” L. Harkness
John “Jack” L. Harkness of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, age 77 died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at a Lansing Hospital . Born August 20, 1932 in Lansing the son of Hallie and Hilda (Thompson) Harkness. Jack was an Olivet High School graduate, class of 1950. He retired as manager of the textile plant at the Department of Corrections for the State of Michigan. Although he spent a career with the State of Michigan his true love was farming. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sister, Hallie Jr., Richard, Robert, Fred and Hildred Whittum.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet; 4 children, Michael (Cindy) Harkness of Howell, Ann (Jeff Vealey) Harkness of Lansing, Kay Harkness of Eaton Rapids and Bruce (Katie) Harkness of Eaton Rapids; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, William (Yeldiz) Harkness of State College, PA, and Rex (Sue) Harkness of Ashford, CT; sister, Patricia Rogers of Salt Lake City, Utah; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids for a visitation on Tuesday, May 25th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Private family graveside services will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Jack Harkness.
Cash O’Neill Harmon
Time stood still as a celebration of life began at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010 as Cash O’Neill bestowed his arrival upon his proud and loving parents, Nathan Harmon and Colleen O’Neill. Precious memories were made and friends and family were filled with unequivocal joy as he walked into their hearts where he will forever roam. At 10:50 a.m. their son spread his angel wings and as he began to fly, his newborn soul was lifted from his earthly body. As now, our guardian, Cash will walk beside his grandfather, Donald L. Harmon, and others to guide and protect friends and family.
Cash has left his imprint in the souls of those whom he is survived by. Cash’s father, Nathan Harmon and his mother, Colleen O’Neill; his grandparents, Richard and Darlene Copp, Beverlee McMurray, Patrick and Elizabeth O’Neill; his great grandparents, Frieda Harmon, Sue Bixler and Paul and Betty McMurray; his aunts and uncles Matthew Harmon, Gregory and Jodi Mallar, Chad Copp and Lindsey Copp; Michael and Cynthia Jacobs; and many other family and friends who will hold a funeral service for him on Thursday at 12:00 noon, at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale, Michigan. There will be a visitation Thursday from 11:00 until 12:00 noon, also at the funeral home.
Any parties interested in making monetary contributions to the family will be collected through VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home and later donated to Sparrow Hospital’s Labor/Delivery and Newborn ICU. Special thanks to the medical staff of Sparrow Hospital and Cynthia Jacobs.
Cash’s precious few moments on earth will never be forgotten.
Bonnie J. Harris
Bonnie Jewel Harris, 73, of Charlotte, departed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 29, 2010.
She was born Oct. 28, 1936 in Eaton Rapids, the youngest daughter of Ivan and Neita (Ball) Dornan.
She was a purchasing and receiving manager for Fox Valley Fire Manufacturing.
She was the beloved mother and friend of her children.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Livingston Sr. of Joplin, MO, Laurie Helberg of Marcellus, NY and Julie Harshey of Charlotte; son, Jeff (Pat) Livingston of Terrebonne, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Snow of Charlotte and brother, Victor Dornon of Traverse City.

Michelle Harris
Michelle (Brammell) Harris, 48, of Charlotte, died Monday, June 14, 2010. She was born January 27, 1962 in Lansing, the daughter of Milton Brammell and the late Peggy (Lewis) Brammell and step-mother, Sandra (Howe) Brammell. Michelle was an employee for the State of Michigan.
She is survived by her companion, Dennis Hall of Charlotte; daughter, Ericka Harris of Charlotte; son, Christopher (Andrea) Harris of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Eric and Hailey; father, Milton and Sandy Brammell of Lansing; sisters, Teresa (David) Abbott of Lansing, Debbie (Ray) Kruch of Holt, Tammy (Moe) Imaz of Holt; step-brothers, Larry (Ginger) Howe of Lake Odessa, David (Kelly) Howe of Swartz Creek; nieces and nephews, Ryan and Rachel Abbott, Amy and Aaron Kruch, Cameron and Bijan Imaz and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Brammell.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Crossroads United Brethren Church in Charlotte, with Pastor Mike Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt.

Jean Hartwick
Jean Hartwick of Eaton Rapids, MI, age 69 of Eaton Rapids died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at her residence. Born January 13, 1941 in Coldwater, the daughter of Michael and Elaine Johnson. Jean enjoyed watching and feeding her birds and loved all wildlife. She enjoyed caring for her flowers and garden. Jean enjoyed bowling and was on several local leagues. She was preceded in death by her husband William Hartwick in 2005.
Surviving are her two sons, William (Linda) Hartwick of Dimondale and Michael (Kelly) Hartwick of Eaton Rapids; her dear companion, Crystal, her beagle dog; and brother, John (Pat) Johnson of Springport.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Graveside services were conducted on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
