Larry Raymond Wells
Larry Raymond Wells of Eaton Rapids, age 79, passed away November 13, 2010. He was born in Kansas City, MO, December 7, 1930. He graduated from White Lake, SD High School and joined the United States Air Force shortly thereafter, serving in the Korean War for 4 years. He worked for Darling Building Supply, Ledges Builder’s Supply and Vander Wall brothers as a brick salesman.
Larry is survived by sons, Scott (Barb) wells, Mark (Bobbi) Wells; 7 grandson, Corey, Kace, Dusty, Dylan, Travis, Craig and Curtis wells; great granddaughter, Kylie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez, his wife of 55 years and the love of his life, Barbara.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids with Pastor Daniel Hofmann officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday form 6-8 p.m. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Those desiring, can make memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Eaton Rapids for Youth Camp Scholarships, 600 E. Main St. Eaton Rapids, MI 48827.
Larry’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctor’s, aides and especially the nurses of Sparrow, St. Lawrence Hospitals and Dimondale Health Care Center for the incredible love and care they gave to their parents over the past 6 and a half months since their car accident.
Trudy B. Wells
Trudy B. wells, 65, of Charlotte, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010. Mrs. Wells was born Aug. 24, 1944 in Unionville, Mich., the daughter of Henry and Clara (Huebner) Sattelberg.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Erwin; daughters, Pam (Robert) Dankenbring of Charlotte and Edy Springstead of Lansing; and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at Pray Funeral Home with Heath Buckley officiating.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Dale L. Welton
Dale L. Welton, 79, died on October 19, 2010. He was born in Maple Rapids, Mich., on September 26, 1931, the son of Lester and Vivian (Scott) Welton. Dale was a retired Detective Sergeant with the Michigan State Police, a member of Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, a United States Air Force Veteran during the Korean War, a member of the American Legion, and Central MI Law Enforcement Assoc. He married Elizabeth Hultberg in August of 1989, and she survives him.
Also surviving are his four sons, Lawrence Welton of Traverse City, Robert (Loir) Welton of DeWitt, Timothy (Peggy) Welton of Dansville and Gary (Karen) Welton of Mason, their mother, Louise Face, and his stepson, Bryan Dotts of Port St. Lucie, Fla., grandchildren, Jill (Aaron) Davis, Michael (Linda) Welton, Jessica Welton, Patrick Welton, Andrew Welton, Kristin Welton, Cody (Amber Patstone) Dotts, great grandchildren, Alyssa Welton, Aiden Welton, Elizabeth Ringlien, Ava Davis, Landon Welton, Owen Welton, Colby Dotts, sister, Marilyn Miles, and sister-in-law, Connie Welton. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Welton.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte, with Pastor Terry Fisher officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns.

Eileen K. Wenger
Eileen Kay Wenger, 73, of Charlotte, passed away Jan. 21, 2010.
Miss Wenger was born May 18, 1936 in Charlotte, the daughter of Marion (Sanders) and Dale Wenger.
Though Eileen traveled in all the states west of the Mississippi, the southern and a few eastern states, no other place appealed like “good ole’ Charlotte”.
She graduated from Charlotte High School, class of 1954.
Eileen was employed at Hayes Green each Hospital from 1953-1962, also 1967-1981 at Eaton county Treasurer’s Office, State of Michigan State Income Tax.
She retired from Mercy Ambulance (computer operations) in 1981.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, U.C.C. and served on various boards and committees, taught church school and was President of Mary Martha Circle. Eileen joined Rebekah Lodge No. 68 on her 18th birthday, was a life member of Eaton Area Senior Center, Business Women’s Guild since 1955, also Michigan Medical Assistants.
Eileen enjoyed reunions of all kinds; family, with friends, classmates and attending the fraternal orders, also, all meetings at the Senior Center.
She had a collection of music boxes that were gifts from parents, friends and relatives.
She was predeceased by her loving parents in 1979 and 1982; brothers, Bill in 1953 and Norm in 2006; her grandparents, Myrtle (Huffman) and Alpha Sanders, and Mable and Ernest Wenger.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Bev (Pickell) Wenger; niece, Barb Wenger (Bryan) Bestrom and their daughter, Emily; and many cousins and special friends.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 at Needmore Cemetery with Rev. Tom Jones officiating.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Charlotte First Congregational Church or Eaton Area Senior Center.

Donnalee A. Wetzel
Donnalee Ailene (Parker) Wetzel died Feb. 22, 2010, three weeks shy of her 97th birthday. Hers was a full life lived well. She will be remembered for the teaching she did. She started her career instructing students in a one room schoolhouse in Ashley, Mich., taught piano on her old upright, shared life lessons with any she saw in need of them and cherished her Bible education work. Together with her husband of 52 years, Chester Dale Wetzel, she raised four sons, Chuck, Don, Sam and Dan, farming first in Gratiot County, then in Vermontville where they settled in 1976. Her family doubled when her sons married, extending her family to include by birth or marriage 27 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She lived with confidence in God’s promise that the meek would inherit a paradise earth. Now she awaits that day asleep in God’s memory, along with her husband, parents, brother, son, daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and one great grandchild, all preceding her in death.
She will be deeply missed by her children, grand and great grandchildren, brother, Wayne Parker and multitudes of dear friends surviving her.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19 at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 10 N. Chester, Charlotte. The family requests, in place of flowers, that donations be made to “Watchtower”. A box will be available at the service for any desiring to do so.
Diane M. Whitaker
Diane Marie (Bishop) Whitaker, 58, of Bellevue, died Monday, May 24, 2010 at her home after a lengthy illness. Diane was born March 7, 1952 in Charlotte, the daughter of Earl Leroy and Margaret Lucille (Gee) Bishop. She was a life resident of Eaton County having grown up on a farm and lived her entire life on the same farm in Bellevue Township. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a housewife. Most of all, she loved caring for her home and family and loved cooking and cake decorating.
Surviving are: her husband, Steve Joe Whitaker; four children, Jason Harold (Monique) Whitaker of Carl Junction, Mo., Teresa Jean (Eric) Lindsey of Bellevue, Travis Steven Whitaker of Battle Creek and Nicholas Earl Whitaker of Bellevue; three grandchildren, Preston Blake Whitaker, Sydney Diane Lindsey and Caden Eli Whitaker; her mother, Margaret L. Bishop of Bellevue and two brothers, Dean William (Wanda) Bishop of Dover, Fla. and Duane Earl (Marilyn) Bishop of Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Scott Brook of Ainger Bible Church officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Care of Battle Creek.
Raymond K. White
Raymond K. White, 90, of Dimondale, died Sunday morning, January 3, 2010, at a Delta Township nursing home.
Mr. White was born June 13, 1919 in North Star, Michigan, a son of Raymond and Bessie (Willetts) White. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of the V.F.W. and retired from G.M. as a senior specificationist. Preceding him in death was his wife, Betty, in 1972.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma; six children, Karen Lambarth of Ballwin, MO, Barbara Drewyor of Eaton Rapids, Roxanne (Everett) Hathaway of Ithaca, Kenneth (Betty) Drewyor of Eaton Rapids, Robert (Debra) Drewyor of Beebe, Arkansas and Brian (Christine) Drewyor of Haslett; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, with Chaplin Doug Masseau officiating. Military honors were given by V.F.W. Post 701. Memorial contributions may be given to V.F.W. Post 701.
Thelma Joyce White
Thelma Joyce White, 79, of Dimondale, died Saturday evening, March 13, 2010, at a Lansing hospital. Mrs. White was born January 5, 1931 in Cooksville, Tennessee, a daughter of Benjamin W. and Carrie M. (Kirby) Davis. She was a retired registered nurse, having served at the Eaton Rapids hospital and Lansing General Hospital. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 2010; her parents; sister, Sammie Davis; and granddaughter, Jaime Drewyor.
She is survived by five children, Barbara Drewyor of Eaton Rapids, Roxanne (Everett) Hathaway of Ithaca, Kenneth (Betty) Drewyor of Eaton Rapids, Robert (Debra) Drewyor of Beebe, Arkansas, and Brian (Christina) Drewyor of Haslett; step-daughter, Karen Lambarth of Ballwin, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley House of Holt; brother, David (Judy) Davis of Elkhart, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale, with Pastor Brad Rickard officiating. Interment in Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to Paws with a Cause or Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
