Louis E. "Mike" McGee
75, of Charlotte, Michigan, died January 2, 2002. Mr. McGee was born July 13, 1926, in Northville, Michigan, the son of Leland and and Clara McGee. He was a TSgt in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years, serving during 3 wars, before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Wanda Jean (Dean); sons James Michael McGee of Casco, Maine; Joseph Randall McGee of Petosky, Michigan; daughter Janice Marie (McGee) (Thomas) Newhouse of DeWitt, Michigan; grandchildren Charlie McGee, Jason McGee, and Rachelle Weaver; brother Robert (Deloris) McGee and sister Mary Ann (Arnold) Seigel and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2002 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte, Michigan with Rev. Father Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Parish Rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, Inc. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Nora Alice Emenhiser
81 of Charlotte, Michigan, died Thursday, January 3, 2002. Mrs. Emenhiser was born March 5, 1920 in Brookland, Arkansas, the daughter of John Wesley and Essie Ethel (Robinson) Nelms. She was married to Delmer Emenhiser who preceded her in death in 1984. She had been a cook at Dick's Diner in Charlotte and Lillian's Café in Eaton Rapids. She is survived by sons James (Nancy) of Texas, Donald (Anna) of Charlotte, Gary (Sharon) Emenhiser of Union City, daughters Linda (Jerry) Dunn of Charlotte, Patsy (Lee) Woodhams of Georgia, Gloria (Ed) DeLong of Bellevue, 27 grandchildren 45 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, brothers Creed Nelms of Arkansas, Dean Nelms of Florida, and sister Lucille Sparling of Port Huron. She was preceded in death by great granddaughter Cierra Lopez. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment will be at Center Eaton Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
Virginia Joyce Jamros
82 of Potterville, Michigan, died January 4, 2002. Mrs. Jamros was born October 10, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John and Susan (Knight) Treganowan. She retired from the State of Michigan after 17 years as a Treasury Clerk, was a member of the Potterville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She married Edwin Jamros in 1941 who survives her, along with sons John (Becky) Jamros of Potterville, William Jamros of Odessa, Texas, daughters Susan (Daniel) Holcomb of Battle Creek, Judith (Martin) Hannah of Okemos, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23 at Potterville United Methodist Church with Rev. Rebecca Morrison officiating. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the local Salvation Army.
George Ray Kyre
67, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Saturday, January 5, 2002. Mr. Kyre was born November 9, 1934 in Fairmont, West Virginia the son of Galen and Pearl (Smith) Kyre. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an accountant for Owens-Illinois Glass Division before retiring in 1996. He was an avid fan of West Virginia University sports, helped keep statistics for local sporting events with Gordon Story for the Charlotte Shopping Guide. He was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, the Charlotte Country Club, and coached Little League Baseball for many years and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Shirley (DeWitt), sons Mike (Jackie) Kyre, Jon (Shannon) Kyre and Russell Kyre all of Charlotte; 8 grandchildren: Jamie Rae, Cassi Ann, Jon-Eric James, Jordan Gabriel, Donald Jacob, Carly Rae, Logan Alexis, and Aubrey Victoria, brother Galen Smith (Joann) Kyre of Marysville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers David Lee Kyre and Kenneth K. Kyre. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home. Flossie B. Corey
age 80, of Vermontville, Michigan, died Sunday, January 6, 2002 at her residence. Mrs. Corey was born May 4, 1921 in Chester Township, the daughter of Lloyd F. and Edith (Smith) Case. She served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was a bookkeeper for the Department of Military Affairs for 26 years, retiring in 1972. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 399 of Kalamo and American Legion Post 222 of Vermontville. She is survived by son Roger Corey of Vermontville, cousins Helen Campbell and family of Angola, Indiana and Lynn Brooks and family of Auburn, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion S. Corey, August 27, 1997. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Vermontville United Methodist Church with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville. Visition will be 7-9 PM Monday and 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. Edna Ines Meeder
94 of Potterville and Battle Creek, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002. Mrs. Meeder was born December 24, 1907 in Shepherd, Michigan, the daughter of Ladd and Laura (Stuart) Fenby. She was a registered nurse at Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte, a secretary for Potterville Schools and was a long time member of the Potterville United Methodist Church. She is survived by grandsons, Leslie Frye of Battle Creek, Thomas and his wife, Nola Frye of Battle Creek, 2 great grandchildren and sister Marian Howell of Zephyr Hills, Florida. She was preceded in death by husband Don C. Meeder in 1978, daughter Kaye in 1999, grandson Donald in 1986 and son-in-law Louis in 1999. Family and Friends are invited to the Family Affirmation Services 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Benton Township Cemetery in Potterville.
Steven Hyde
age 61 of Springport, Michigan, died Thursday, January 10, 2002. Mr. Hyde was born September 27, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Francis and Nancy (Aubrey) Hyde. He was in quality control for Eaton Metal Products and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by sisters Anita (Rodney) Rodgers of Gwinn, Patricia (Glenn) Briggs of Charlotte, brother Mike (Tiana) Hyde of Tulsa, Oklahoma, special friend, Teresa Hammond and her daughters Tammy, Tina (Tony) and Shannon of Charlotte, her four grandchildren, Uncle Orville Hyde, Aunt Sheba Haight, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment will be in West Carmel Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Ruth Lucille Palmer
age 89, of Big Rapids, Michigan, formerly of Charlotte, died Friday, January 11, 2002. Mrs. Palmer was born March 18, 1912, in Needmore, Eaton County, Michigan, the daughter of Louie and Blanche (Woodworth) Boughton. Mrs. Palmer lived in Charlotte most of her life and moved to Big Rapids in 1991, she was a nurses aide for the Eaton County Medical Care Facility in Charlotte. She is survived by a daughter, Lucille Guillen of Big Rapids, a son, Leo Edward (Gean) Palmer of Hillsdale, 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a brother, Hal Boughton of Detroit. She was preceded in death by her first husband Myron G. McConnell in 1976 and second husband Max Palmer in 1990. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Monday, January 14, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Minister Jeff Niedzeilski officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville, Michigan. Bernard "Bernie" Junior Booyinga
67, of Mason, Michigan, formerly of Charlotte, MI. died Tuesday, January 15, 2002. Mr. Booyinga was born March 10, 1934, in Dunningville, Michigan, the son of Louis Bernard and Estella Mae (Thomas) Booyinga. He is survived by his loving companion Phyllis VanDeMoortel and cousins Brian (Voni) Booyinga of Dansville; Sheryl Kletke of Holt; Joanne McGlocklin of Battle Creek; Brent Booyinga of Battle Creek. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2002 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan with Rev. Jeff Bowman officiating. Visitation will be 7 - 9p.m. Thursday at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan. Geraldine Evelyn Emery
82, of Charlotte, Michigan, died January 15, 2002. Mrs. Emery was born March 2, 1919, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Cora (Meade) Grundstrom. Mrs. Emery enjoyed lots of volunteer work, watching children and sharing flowers, with her neighbors. She was a "neighborhood gramma". She is survived by husband Thomas A. Emery, son Thomas C. (Barbara) Emery of Charlotte, daughter Kathi (Tom) Dominguez of DeWitt, Michigan, son James D. (Nancy) Emery of Land O Lakes, Florida, son Eugene R. (Linda) Emery of Vermontville, Michigan, daughter Carmen Emery of Holt, son Gerald (Donna) Lewis of Chicago, Illinois, 25 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Charlene Lewis Vaughn. Family Affirmation Service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2002 with visitation from 1 - 3 p.m. before the service, at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Charles Jenson officiating. Interment will be in West Carmel Cemetery in Charlotte.
Bradley (Brad) Kent Carpenter
45, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002. Mr. Carpenter was born February 22, 1956, in Charlotte, the son of Bruce and Janet (Devenbaugh) Carpenter who survive. He was a carpenter. He is survived by daughters Samantha, Tina and Karen; grandparents Theda and Maurice Devenbaugh, brothers Steve and Darryl Carpenter; and many other family members. Patsy "Pat" Louise Overton
52, of Charlotte, Michigan, died February 1, 2002. Mrs. Overton was born January 4, 1950 in Greenville, N.C., the daughter of George Leonard and Mary Aletha (Waters) Williams. She worked with the Eaton County Courthouse and was member of the Charlotte Pentecostal Church of God. She is survived by her husband of 16 years Gary Overton, daughter Sara Ellis, son Jordan Ellis, step-daughter Nicole Overton, step-son Andrew Overton and step-grandson Dominic Macias all of Michigan, and brother Steve (Mary) Williams of Greenville, N.C. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI with Rev. Elbern Householder officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Chad Earl Music
28, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Sunday, February 3, 2002 as a result of an automobile accident. Mr. Music was born May 25, 1973, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. Mr. Music's parents who survive are Gabrielle (Jones) LaBelle of Springport, Michigan and Earl Franklin Music. He was a cook at Sharon's Café in Charlotte. He enjoyed kids most of all his daughter Victoria, fishing and playing golf. He is survived by his wife, Angie (Culp) Music of Charlotte; daughter Victoria Bobbi Music; brothers Tim and David Music; sisters Erica, Amber and Lauren Abosamra; grandmother Ila Sommer of Lansing; parents-in-law Robert and Barbara Culp of Charlotte; brother-in-law Robbie Culp; sisters-in-law Shannon Culp and Holly (Bryan) Culp/Stout; nieces Logan Culp, Madison Music, Brook Giulliani; and nephew Josh Giulliani. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Marc Livingston officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Morales of California; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sisters Martha (Wayne) Frey, Bessie Morales and brother Robert (Marie) Harmon all of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Morales in 1992. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Millerburg Cemetery in Charlotte with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating.
