Dorothy Ann Evans
83, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Tuesday, September 24, 2002. Mrs. Evans was born October 7, 1918, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Albert L. and Anna (Haak) Hart the oldest of seven children. She attended Nashville Baptist Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts and loved her children, grandchildren and was so proud of her husband's paintings. She is survived by son Howard (Connie) Evans of Dowling, Michigan; son Dean (Annie) Evans of Houghton Lake, Michigan; daughter Judy (Calvin) Oles of Dowling, Michigan; son Alan (Rose) Evans of Middleton, Michigan; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, brother Dayol Hart of Phoenix, Arizona, sister Darlene Cook of Dimondale, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Evans in 2000, grandson Daren in 1986, her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Pastor Lester DeGroot and Pastor Dino Lamphere officiating. Interment at 1:00 p.m. in Union Home Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Herman Henry Nieters
90, of Dimondale, Michigan, died Sunday, September 29, 2002. Mr. Nieters was born November 8, 1911, in Rockville, Minnesota, the son of Bernard Nieters and Mary (Jaskin) Nieters. He worked as a machinist for Olofsson Specialty Products in Lansing until retirement. He is survived by daughters Kathleen (Jerry) Beasley of Dimondale and Linda Martinez of Charlotte; grandchildren Jeffrey Beasley, Rebecca Briggs, Bernard Andrews, Anthony, Stephen, Kenneth and Rhonda Martinez; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers Allie Nieters of Minnesota and Ted (Angie) Nieters of Colorado and sister Margaret Thole of Ionia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline, who died in 1987. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte with Rev. Father Denis R. Spitzley officiating. A Reading will be held Tuesday, October 1, at 7 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan. Interment will be in Windsor Township Cemetery in Dimondale. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 at Pray Funeral Home.
Dorothy B. Tirrell
99, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Tuesday, October 01, 2002. Mrs. Tirrell was born November 25, 1902, in Kalamo Township, Michigan, the daughter of Bert and Myra (Shellenbarger) Bell. She was a school teacher at the Munson Country School and the "Old" Washington School. She attended Eaton County Normal School and Western Michigan University. She was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Church Membership Secretary. She was also a member of the I Go-U-Go Club, Charlotte Grange, and Eaton County Farm Bureau - Loyal Suburbanites. She loved visiting the folks in the area foster care homes and volunteered at Eaton Manor Nursing Home. She is survived by sons Donald (Donna Jeanne) Tirrell of Charlotte, Jack (Marian) Tirrell of Charlotte, 6 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband E. Kenneth Tirrell in 1982, grandson Allen Tirrell in 1988, and sister Beulah Wilson in 2000. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be at Wednesday 7 - 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home. Annie Isabel Gibson (Grannie)
74, of Charlotte, Michigan, died October 4, 2002. Mrs. Gibson was born November 17, 1927, in Wheelright, Kentucky, the daughter of James D. and Angeline (Orretta) Pishner. Annie was a very loving and caring person. She loved people, embroidery, collectibles and macrame'. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Kendall Gibson of Charlotte, Robert David (Ethel) Whitaker of Charlotte, Joseph Vincent (Melissa) Whitaker of Charlotte, Tamara Ellen King of Charlotte, Brenda (Leslie) Cox, Phillip (Lema) Gibson of Mousie, Kentucky, Geraldine (Herbie) Stamper, Clem (Don) McDaniels, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sisters Doloras Harris of Charlotte, Vena (Otis) Newsome of Charlotte, and Victoria (Columbus) Martin of Bevinsville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by sister Mary Ellen Nance and brother Joseph Rossi. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2002 with Father Robideau officiating at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, Michigan. Visitation will be 7 - 9 pm Saturday, and 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm Sunday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Ingham Hospice.
Anne Elizabeth Nuckolls
93, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Wednesday, October 9,2002. Mrs. Nuckolls was born April 2, 1909, in Yale, Michigan, the daughter of William and Mary (Ohmer) Beers. She is survived by daughter Beverly (Jack) Short of Charlotte, 2 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. No services are being planned. Ronald Lee Sullivan Sr.
64, of Delton, Michigan, died Monday, October 14, 2002. Mr. Sullivan was born April 16, 1938, in Ingham County, Michigan, the son of James C. and Florence LaVina (Lempr) Sullivan. He was an employee of General Motors Oldsmobile division for many years before retiring in May, 1991. He served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by son Ronald L. (Kathy) Sullivan of Dimondale, daughter June (Lou) Esch of Tennessee, son Robert J. Sullivan of North Carolina, son Richard Monroe of Charlotte, Michigan, 6 grandchildren, brother Robert Sullivan of Woodland, sister Donna Pickett of Ohio. Family Affirmation Service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with R. Raymond Rossell officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Homer A. Buck Jr.
71, of Grand Ledge, Michigan, died Thursday, October 17, 2002. Mr. Buck was born October 10, 1931, in Potterville to his parents Homer Sr. and Olive Buck. Homer was employed at Green Bay Foods in Eaton Rapids for 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed being an active member of the Potterville-Benton Twp. Fire Department for 30 years. He is survived by his wife Sandra Buck, sons Donald (Leanne) Buck Potterville, Thomas Buck Potterville and Floyd (Shawn) Buck of Manton, daughters Rhonda Buck of Lake Odessa, Debra Buck of Lansing, and Sharon Buck of Grand Ledge, 8 grandchildren; 2 Brothers Robert Buck of Newaygo, John (Shirley) Buck of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1979 and his father in 1982 and son Randy Scott Buck in 1994. The family will receive visitors 7 - 9 PM Saturday at the Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at the Potterville-Benton Twp. Fire Station with Rev. Tom Peters officiating. Jonathan Howard Ferree
26 of Charlotte, Michigan, died Sunday, October 20, 2002 resulting from an automobile accident. Mr. Jon Ferree was born October 1, 1976 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Darrell and Julia (Gladding) Ferree. He was a Customer Service Manager with Micro Tech Services in Holt. Surviving are his wife Deidre (VanDyke) Ferree, 2 year old daughter Julia Rosemarie Ferree, his parents, step-son's Nathan and Tyler Silverthorn, sister Christy Ferree and in-laws Richard and Mary VanDyke. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, Michigan, with Pastors Larry Yeagley and Michael Conley officiating. Interment will be at Needmore Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 pm. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Ferree family.
Douglas Schultz
70, of Charlotte, Michigan, died October 24, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Schultz was born May 20, 1932 in Chester Township, Michigan, the son of Arthur G. and Elaine (DePue) Schultz. He was a blacksmith and owner of the Chester Blacksmith Shop in Chester. He was a former 4-H leader of the Circle C Riders and former President of the Michigan Pony Pulling Association. He is survived by daughters Debbie (Phil) Fisher of North Guilford, Connecticut, Trudy (Rod) Lea of Charlotte, Terri Craft of Dansville, son Randy Schultz of Chester, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brothers Arthur "Sam" of Ceresco, Dorwin "Dade", Donald, Darrell "Joe" Schultz, all of Charlotte, and Dee of Pickford, and, sisters Dorreen "Susie" Kiplinger of Bellevue, and Doris (Michael) McCrimmon of Battle Creek. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 6-9 Friday at the funeral home.
Orville Amos Hyde
76, of Charlotte, Michigan, formerly of Byron Center, died Monday, October 28, 2002. Mr. Hyde was born January 13, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Stephen and Hattie (Piper) Hyde. Orville was a laborer for Reynolds Aluminum in Grand Rapids until his retirement in 1981. He served in the Army Air Corps. He was an avid model train collector. He is survived by nieces Patricia (Glenn) Briggs of Charlotte, Anita (Rodney) Rodgers of Gwinn, Michigan, nephew Michael Hyde of Tulsa, Oklahoma and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Francis Hyde. Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2002 in Cato Cemetery in Lakeview, Michigan with R. Raymond Rossell officiating.
Douglas Kenneth Fletcher
78, of Farwell, Michigan, died Monday, October 28, 2002. Mr. Fletcher was born February 5, 1924, in Charlotte, Michigan, the son of J. Kenneth and Bernice (Trescott) Fletcher. He served in the Navy and was a member of the Charlotte American Legion #42 and Farwell Masonic Lodge #335. He was a Real Estate Salesman in Farwell. He is survived by sons David (Laura) Fletcher of Flint, Mark (Joanne) Fletcher of Mulliken, daughter Cheryl Lee Wilkie of Traverse City, 5 grandchildren, sisters Donis Miner of Owosso and Frances DeBar of California, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Rev. Thomas E. Ball officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte. Kathleen Bingham
81, of Charlotte, Michigan, died October 29, 2002. Mrs. Bingham was born September 24, 1921, Evart, Michigan, the daughter of Harry and Beatrice (Montgomery) Custer. Kathleen was a partner in the family farm and trucking business C. Dale Bingham Farm Supplies. She was also an active member of the Charlotte Free Methodist Church. She is survived by husband Dale Bingham, sons Charles (Barb) Bingham and Michael (Delores) Bingham all of Charlotte, 4 grandchildren Michael J., Christina, Scott, Laura, sisters Norma Rice of Rodney, Michigan, Helen Cotton of Mulliken, Michigan and Betty Pedersen of Evart, Michigan. She was predeceased by brother Forest Custer. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 7 - 9 pm at Pray Funeral Home. Interment will be in Clarence Center Cemetery.
Annette Marie Monroe
47 of Charlotte, died November 2, 2002. Mrs. Monroe was born April 19, 1955 in East Chicago, Indiana. Annette grew up in Highland, Indiana where she attended Our Lady of Grace grade school. She then moved to Battle Creek in 1967. She was the owner of Flowers by Annette in Charlotte and brought a lot of beauty into the lives of many brides, sweethearts, family and friends through her floral artistry. She enjoyed bowling, doing crafts and especially loved her Yorkie, "Radar". She is survived by husband Mike, daughter Krista (Scott) Roberts of Olivet, stepsons Chris Monroe of St. Petersburg, Florida, Dave Monroe of Pensacola, Florida, Andy Monroe of Dearborn, grandchildren Grant Roberts, age 9, Jenna Roberts, age 8, mother Anna (Deistler) Wiles of Charlotte, father Thomas Pouch of Illinois, sister Laura (Bruce) Jennings of Battle Creek, brother Russell (Barb) Pouch of Charlotte, sister Suzanne St. Johns of Jackson, 5 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating, and the Eulogy given by Dr. Tom Woodward. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek. Visitation will be 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m., Monday and Tuesday at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Anna Mae Schaub - Antico
84, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002. Anna Mae was born September 6, 1918, in Vermontville, Michigan, the daughter of Ray and Hattie (Bale) Hawkins. She enjoyed weaving and bingo with her "nickels" she won going to her grandkids. She is survived by sons Larry (Barbara) Schaub of Charlotte, Jack (Cathy) Schaub of Nashville, Michigan, daughter Patricia (Larry) Wright of Charlotte, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, brothers Elwood Hawkins of Grand Ledge, Michigan, sisters Eleanor Rawson of Byron Center, Michigan, and Lucille Carroll of Portland, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, and brother Lawrence Hawkins. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Pastor Don Palmer officiating. A family graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Sunfield Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes.
