Priebe, Miriam T.

Lansing, MI

Born March 4, 1934, lost her battle with cancer on November 20, 2001. She was born in New York City and attended Hunter College before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where she worked with aircraft control and warning radar. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Walter and their children, Gordon (Julie), Joseph (Victoria), Jon (Diana), Anne Marie Watts (Frederic) and Paul (Danielle); two brothers and four sisters. Miriam was an Instructional Assistant. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and The Radio Talking Book. She loved her plants, bird watching and especially children. Religious services will be conducted by the Rev. John W. Boley at Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capitol, Saturday, November 24, 2001 at 11:30 A.M. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday, November 23, 2001 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the "Childrens Program Fund" at Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capitol, Lansing, MI 48933.

Charles S. Lindsay

East Lansing, formerly of Onsted, Michigan

Age 84, loving and devoted husband and father, passed over to the Lord on April 26, 2003. Mr. Lindsay was born on February 19, 1919 in Jackson, Michigan to Charles S. and Marie Patton Lindsay. He attended elementary school in the Jackson area and was a 1939 graduate of Brooklyn High School. He married Edna Feller Lindsay on April 21, 1941 in Springville, Lenawee County, Michigan. Soon after their wedding Mr. Lindsay was called to military service, where he served bravely with the U.S. 9th Army in liberating Europe during World War II. After military service he and wife Edna resided in Springville for over forty years, where they enjoyed a lifelong loving devotion to family, friends, and enjoyment of Michigan’s Irish Hills area. Mr. Lindsay was employed as a machine operator and engineering technician with the Tecumseh Products Company for over thirty years, until his retirement in 1977. Mr. Lindsay was a respected friend and neighbor to all who knew him, always willing to lend a hand regardless of the task. He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and nature study. He was an avid reader on many subjects and enjoyed sharing and encouraging his love of learning with son, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay moved to Lansing in 1989 to be closer to immediate family. Mr. Lindsay was preceded in death by wife Edna in 1996, by mother Marie in 1982, and father Charles in 1950. He is survived by son Stuart and daughter-in-law Meredith of East Lansing, grand children Aileen (Jerry) Behl ; Scott (Kristey) Woltjer of Grand Rapids; Shelby (Scott) Butler of Lansing, and Krista (Jon) Levanetz of Appleton, Wisconsin. Great grandchildren Megan and Jacob Woltjer, Rachael Behl, McKenna Levanetz and Adrianna Butler. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to VFW National Home for Children, Eaton Rapids, in Mr. Lindsay’s name. Visitation will be held Monday, April 28, from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at Estes-Leadley Funeral Home, Lansing. Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at Estes-Leadley Funeral Home, Lansing. Brief graveside service and internment will be held at 2:00 PM at St. Michael’s Church, Cambridge Township Cemetery, Lenawee County. Local arrangements by Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home.

Walker, June Elizabeth

Rodney, MI

Age 77, passed away May 13, 2002 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her very loving family. She was born in Lansing on Dec. 4, 1924 and has lived here for most of her life. She was a 1943 graduate of Lansing Central High School and was associated with Dr. Frank Heckert for 14 years, later retiring from the Lansing State Journal. She loved music and traveling with her husband. Surviving are: Husband, Lyle; 3 Daughters, Karen Walker of Cleveland, OH, Krystal (Tim) Malatinsky and Kandy (Donald) Chamberlain of Lansing; 10 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Granddaughter; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2002 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Grandchildren, Philip and Kara Douma and Son-in-law, Tim Malatinsky officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice of Lansing, Inc.

Kolonich, Elsie L.

Holt, MI

Age 79, went to be with her Lord on September 10, 2001. She is survived by: four sons, Gary (Sandy) Kolonich of Lansing, Ken (Carla) Kolonich of Eaton Rapids, Burrell (Linda) Kolonich of Lansing, and Gilbert Kolonich of Holt; two daughters, Katherine (Bob) Stevens of Grand Rapids, and Zora Shirey of Holt; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Donna) Spencer of Jackson, and Leonard (Carol) Spencer of Alaska; one sister, Dorothy (Karl) Newingham of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 1 grandson and 1 great grandson. A memorial service was held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 16, 2001 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Herbert Geisler officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran School. Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.

Cunningham, Mary C.

Lansing, MI

Mary C. Cunningham, the daughter of Phillip K. and Elisabeth Alber, passed away on April 11, 2002. She is survived by: husband, Robert; daughters, Kristin Gaumer and Erika (Jeffrey) Bigelow; brothers, Philip and John Alber. She was a very proud grandmother of two grandchildren, Michael and Emma. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Mgsr. Robert Lundsford officiating. The family received friends from 4-6 p.m., on Saturday, April 13, 2002 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ele's Place, 600 W. Wrook, Virginia Lee "Mason"

Holt, MI

Age 75, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2001. She was born on August 4, 1926 in Trezevant, Tenn., the daughter of Elliott and Martha (Argo) Mason. She moved to the Holt area in 1930 and has resided there since. Virginia was an avid reader, loved politics and was active in support groups. She also loved flower gardening and probably had most perennials suited to our area. She was preceded in death by: son, Kenneth Wrook, parents, Elliott and Martha Mason; brothers, Bill Mason and Reg Mason; father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Anna Wrook; brother-in-law, Donald Wrook. She is survived by: husband, Robert Wrook, son, Greg (Lori) Wrook; grandchildren, Brian and Staci; great grandchildren, Amanda, Will, and Daniel; brother, Carl (Lori) Mason; brother-in-law, Richard Wrook; sister-in-law, Marion Wrook; nieces and nephews, Joey and Meagan Mason, Mike and Kathy Wrook; and grand nieces and nephews, Andi, Keely and Kristan Wrook. Graveside services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. James E. Robinson officiating. The family received friends from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, November 4, 2001 the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice or to a charity of one's choice.

Priehs, Modanna

(Formerly of Mason, MI)

Age 82, passed away on December 5, 2002. She was born on May 26, 1920 in Detroit, the daughter of Harry and Grace Nichols. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ralph “Sugar”, in 1995; and daughter, Patricia, in 1983. She is survived by: son, Jerry A. (Kathryn) Priehs of Lansing; daughter, Carolyn (Karl) Flamme of Leslie; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. John A. Schinkel officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-4 on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 5740 W. Fiorillo, Toni L.
Lansing, MI

Age 52, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2003. She was born on June 22, 1951 in Lansing, the daughter of Albert V. and Betty Lou (Conner) Fiorillo. Toni was a graduate of Chapel Hill High School, a private girls school, in Waltham, Massachusetts and received a BA and Masters Degree from Western Michigan University. She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in 1978, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed traveling and making jewelry. Toni was preceded in death by: her parents and uncle, Dexter S. Conner. Surviving are: aunts, Violet and Peg; and many cousins and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Mary Sabina Chapel of Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capitol, Lansing, with the Rev. Dr. Russell F. McReynolds officiating. Entombment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Toni L. Fiorillo.

Whitehead, Walter A.

Leslie, MI

Age 50, passed away on March 14, 2002 at his home. He was born on December 19, 1951 in Hartford, CT. Walter served his country in the United States Air Force, and worked for G.M. for 28 years. He was an avid sports fan, loved to work on cars and build many things, but mostly loved to spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sheryl (Nee Austin) Whitehead; son, Craig (Roberta) Whitehead; granddaughter, Emilee Jo; mother, Edna Milks; sisters, Karen, Linda, Debbie and Lori; brothers, Steven and Edwin; mother and father-in-law, Laura and David Austin; sisters-in-law, Mary (Albert) Simon and Penny (Doug) Howe; niece, Monica (Chad) Lytle; and many friends. He was preceded in death by: father, John R. Whitehead, Jr.; stepfather, Edwin C. Milks. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 16, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials may be given to Ingham Regional Hospice, in Walter's memory.
