Age 80, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2003. He was born on January 10, 1923 to John Victor and Celia (Cunningham) Carlson in Alba, MI. Victor retired from General Motors in 1984 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking and wintering in Florida. Victor is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delora (Waite); children, Sharon (Jim) Doerr and Gary (Ann) Carlson; grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda and Jason; one brother, Worth of Greenville, MI; one sister, Lena of Arizona. He was preceded in death by one brother, George of Tennessee and one nephew, Eugene Victor of Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Stroke Foundation in memory of Victor.
Mongson, Daveline A.

Age 69, passed away on December 7, 2002. She was born on January 6, 1933 in Mt. Kisco, New York, the daughter of David F. and Mary E. (Mead) Mongson. She worked for 37 years at the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company. She was preceded in death by: her parents; and sister, Vicki Ogden. She is survived by: brothers, John Mongson of Brewster, NY and David (Nancy) Mongson of Lansing, MI; sisters, Elaine McDonald of Naples, FL and Rosemary Vinberg of Shenorock, NY; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a Local Humane Society or a charity of one’s choice.
Nickols, Winona Marie
Lansing (Formerly of Laingsburg)
Age 83, went to be with her Lord on November 28, 2001. Born September 21, 1918 in Merritt, MI and lived most of her life in Laingsbug. She married Edward Nickols on September 21, 1935, who preceded her in death in 1997. Winona was a member of Emanuel First Lutheran Church, where she was very active, serving on the Missionary Society, Prime Timers and also taught Sunday School for many years. She retired from Universal Electric of Owosso after 16 years. She is survived by her sons, Rolland (Kay) of Laingsburg and Kenneth of Bath; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Manley (Elaine) Hunt; sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Duffy and Virginia (Leon) Cogan; sister-in-law, Edul Hunt and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Stanley, Darwin and Charles Hunt. A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2001 at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing with the Revs. Daniel M. Buske and Paul J. Lindloff officiating. Interment followed in Laingsburg Cemetery. The family received visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona's memory.
Endres, Gary Richard

Gary Endres passed away at home with his family on December 30th at the age of 59 after a five-month battle with cancer. He was born November 24, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a graduate of Michigan State University and recent recipient of a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from The George Washington University. He was a Transportation Planner with the State of Michigan for the last 38 years. He also owned and operated the Oak Shop, in Williamston Michigan. Gary was a volunteer donor to The American Red Cross Platelet Apheresis program since the programs founding over thirty years ago. Gary was looking forward to retiring in 3 1/2 years to spend time at his lakeside cottage, which he and his wife, Ruth, have been remodeling for the last 5 years. He planned on traveling and spending more time with his family and friends. Gary was one who enjoyed life to the fullest whether as a coach of one of his son’s baseball teams, playing softball and golf with his sons and friends, or entertaining with Ruth for his family and friends at either his backyard pool or cottage on the lake. Gary was a committed son, husband, father, “Paw Paw” and friend. He was a caring and compassionate person always willing to help a friend or family member in need. Gary is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon, and brother, Lawrence. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Ruth E. Hepfer, parents Walter and Bernice Endres, sister, Linda (Rick) Wilson of Midland, sister, Gail (Bob) Schroeder, of Cadillac, son, Jeffery (Kellie) Endres of Duluth, Georgia, son Mark (Stephanie) Endres of Alpharetta, Georgia, and grandchildren Taylor and Matthew. The family will receive friends for visitation on January 3, 2005 from 1-4p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Estes-Leadley Funeral Home, 325 West Washtenaw Street, Lansing, Michigan 48933. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on January 4, 2005 at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 3815 South Cedar Street, Lansing, Michigan. Beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on July 1, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 52. She was born on February 7, 1950 in Eaton Rapids, MI, the daughter of Richard W. Powers and C. Jeanne Herner. She attended Eastern High School, graduating in 1968 and also attended Lansing Business University. Kris was a Secretary for 31 ˝ years at General Motors. She knew Jesus and attended Mount Hope Church. Her family was very important to her and survivors include: son, Kevin (Tricia) Vaive; daughters, Stacie Jeanne (Justin Mapes) Vaive and Laura (Charlie) Bruneel; grandchildren, Jacob, Victoria, Camrin, Meghan and Madeline; mother, C. Jeanne Herner; sister, Mary (Steve) Vaive; half brothers and sisters, Kathy, Ricky, Sharon, Tom, Michael and Kelly; step-brother, Doug Herner; step-sister, Susan Grogan; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by: father, Richard W. Powers; grandmother, M. Irene Edick; and niece, Amanda Vaive. You loved us all and we will always love you. We will forever cherish your memories in our hearts. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at Mount Hope International Outreach, South West Garden Prayer Chapel, 202 S. Creyts Road, Lansing. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Age 83, quietly passed away on January 30, 2002. She was born in Grand Ledge on May 10, 1918 and has lived in the Lansing area for most of her life. She was preceded in death by husband, Russell Jacobs, and a daughter, Sandra Dick. Surviving are: 3 daughters, Evelyn (Bruce) Sturgell of Dimondale, Gay (Ed) Barr of Portland and Patty (Ron) Binkley of Lansing; 2 sons, Marvin (Peggy) Jacobs of Laingsburg and Dale (Moreen) Jacobs of Lansing; 24 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Billie Tyson and Ilha Beard, both of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Nunham of Robbins United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2002. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Jones, Audrey Faye

Age 80, passed away Aug. 25, 2001. She was born in Gibson County, TN Oct. 4, 1920, and has lived in Lansing since 1954, coming here from Greenfield, TN. She was a member of the Charity Baptist Church of Holt, and was a food supervisor at Michigan State University, Brody Dormitory Cafeteria for 30 years, retiring in 1985. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Garland Jones in 1989. Surviving are: Son, Jim (Lori) Jones of East Lansing; 3 Grandchildren, James David (Jan) Jones, Pamela (Richard) Smithson, and Samantha Styx; 3 Great Grandchildren, Jessica and Kasey Jones, and Sidney Smithson; 2 Brothers, Aubrey and T.B. Needham; 2 Sisters, Sara Grinder and Martha Rachel; nieces and nephews. Religious services were conducted by The Rev. Royce Allen of the East Lansing Trinity Church at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2001 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw, Lansing. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Interment was held on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001 in the Highland Cemetery, Greenfield, TN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
