Loving servant of God and our Savior Jesus Christ, Sharon Lass, born on September 29, 1943 in Jackson, MI. went to be with her Lord on November 2, 2002. She was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Mason, and graciously served in many capacities such as the Social Concerns Committee, the Prayer Shawl Ministry, and acted as Funeral Dinners Coordinator. She truly had a servants heart. Sharon is survived by her husband of 42 years LaVerne Lass, daughters Lisa Allen (and special family friend Kimberly L. Deladurantaye), Leslie (Dennis) Kocsis, Sandra Siemon, and Sheryl Lass (and special family friend Sandra A. Schaefer), grandchildren Kady & Kyle Kocsis, Douglas, Daniel, &David Allen, and Samantha Siemon. She is also survived by two sisters Julie Morris of Aneheim CA., and Jeanne Burch of Fremont, CA., and one brother Ken Lipschultz of Anaheim, CA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 720 W. South St., Mason, Mi. The Rev. Dr. Nicholas Martin will be officiating the services. Interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include Dennis Kocsis, Donald Reynolds, Kady Kocsis, Kyle Kocsis, Douglas Allen, Daniel Allen, and David Allen. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday November 5th at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Lutheran Church, in memory of Sharon.
Borden, Hazel A. (Eldredge)
Lansing, MI
Age 100, passed away on March 23, 2002. She was born on April 5, 1901 in Lake Odessa, and has lived in Lansing for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1979, and by 7 siblings. Surviving are: daughter, Anolah (Charles) Moore of St. Johns; 3 grandchildren, Edward (Lana) Moore of Portland, Richard Moore of Howell and Margaret Rossow of St. Johns; 8 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren. A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. D. Keith Laidler officiating. Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa. The family received friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2002 and from 11:00 a.m., until service time on Tuesday, March 26, 2002.
Nederveld, Clifford A.
Lansing, MI
Age 73, loving husband, father and grandfather went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2001, he will be sadly missed. He was born on July 30, 1928 in Byron Center, MI, and has lived in Lansing most of his life. Mr. Nederveld owned and operated Capital City International Trucks since 1974. He was a member of Immanuel Community Reformed Church, and served on the Board of the Salvation Army for over 10 years, was a member of the Rotary Club of Lansing for 21 years, until his retirement. He also served on the council of the Truck Blue Book, the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and was a member of the N.F.I.B. Cliff loved golfing, fishing and hunting. Surviving are: his wife of 53 years, Eleanor; sons, Bruce (Kay) and David (Yvonne); grandchildren, Farrah, Sarah and Jonathan; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and foster daughter, Cheryl Janke. He was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Maggie Nederveld; and sister, Florence Keizer. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at Immanuel Community Reformed Church, 3200 Delta River Drive, Lansing, with the Rev. Richard Heusinkveld officiating. The burial service was held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2001 at Delta Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Community Reformed Church, in Clifford's memory.
Finkbeiner, Marguerite Elnora
Lansing, MI
Age 80, passed away on February 18, 2003. She was born on May 31, 1922 in Lansing and has lived in the Lansing area all of her life. She retired from the State of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clare in 1993. Surviving are: brother-in-law, LeRoy Finkbeiner; sister-in-law, Maxine Finkbeiner; several nieces and nephews; loving friends, Helena and James Rockafellow and Julie and Jimy Combs; and her furry friends, Gilda & Goldie. A special thanks to the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Pastor David Thiele officiating. Interment will follow in Reed Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice, in memory of Marguerite Finkbeiner.
Fox, Frances Janette
Rapid River, MI (formerly of Holt)
Age 91, passed away on December 21, 2001 born in Pewamo, MI on September 19, 1910 to Joseph and Mary Bartos. She married Ferdinand J. Fox who preceded her in death in 1989. Before starting a family, Frances worked as a telephone operator, she later worked for Hitchens Drug Store in Holt for many years and was very active in the Holt community. Along with that she also volunteered at Lansing General Hospital. She was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Frances is survived by her two sons, Robert (Jean) Fox of Madison, WI and Richard (Denise) Fox of McCordsville, IN; one daughter, Beverly (George) Warren of Rapid River, MI; brother-in-law, Leo (Alice) Fox of Lansing; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Ferdinand, she was preceded in death by her two sisters and one brother. The Funeral Mass was celebrated by The Rev. Fr. Jose Mundadan at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2001, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3815 S. Cedar, Lansing. The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given to The American Cancer Society in Frances' memory. Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
Payne, Eleanor R.

Age 91, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2002. She was born on April 10, 1911, in Chelsea, MI to George Henry and Francena (Coe) Robards. Eleanor has lived in the Lansing area since 1933, moving to Holt in 1959 where she has resided since. She was a charter member of the Holt Senior Citizens. Eleanor was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Zippy" Payne; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Surviving are her daughter, Marcia (Kendall) Parker of Owosso; sons, Douglas Cleeves of Holt and Alan (Bonnie) Cleeves of Mason; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Margaret Z. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Ingham Visiting Nurses Hospice in memory of Eleanor.

Age 94, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2002. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 14, 1907, and had lived in Michigan and Florida before moving to Haslett 3 years ago. She was preceded in death by: husband, Ralph P. Barrett, Sr.; son, Robert D. Barrett; and grandson, Matthew Barrett. She is survived by: son, Ralph "Pat" (Mary) Barrett, Jr. of East Lansing, MI; daughter-in-law, Shirley Barrett of Delray Beach, FL; grandchildren, Robert (Linda) Barrett of Akron, OH, Christine (Greg) VanNada of Orlando, FL and Ann (Kurt) Wilde of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren, Isaac and Aaron Barrett, Amy, Daniel, James and Steven VanNada; and special niece, Orrel Gunderson of Chicago, IL. Age 69, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2002. She was born on April 17, 1932. Survivors include: her husband of 51 years, Floyd Neal; daughter, Rachelle Neal of Lansing; sons, John and James Neal, both of Lansing; grandchildren, Jacob, Benjamin, David and Alexandra; and her mother, Viva Caswell. She was preceded in death by her father, John Lucas. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, February 7, 2002 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
