LaRue, Dolores Marie
Lansing, MI
Age 78, died April 3, 2003 at Hospice Residence of Lansing, MI. She was born March 6, 1925, in Detroit, the only child of Frank and Margaret Harrison. In 1932 she moved to Gagetown, MI and from there to Sebewaing, MI. After her father passed away, she moved back to Detroit with her mother. When her mother remarried, they settled in Caro, MI. She attended high school at St. Joseph’s Academy in Adrian, MI, graduating in 1943. After graduation, she moved around until finally settling back in Caro in 1955. While living in Caro, she worked in the office of Dr. Nigg and Miles and later at Caro Community Hospital nursing and caring for others. In 1961 she met and married Charles F. LaRue of Bay City. From 1969 to 1976 she and Charles owned and operated Arnold Palmer Cleaners in Saginaw and Alma City Cleaners in Alma, from 1976 to 1982. After residing in Las Vegas, where she worked at El Gen Nursing Home, they returned to Bay City in 1991. She and Charles then moved to Lansing in 2000. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. LaRue, father, Frank Harrison, mother, Margaret Lenhard and step-father, George Lenhard. Surviving are three children, Michael Spaulding of Flint, April Ranke and Brian LaRue both of Holt; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 11, 2003 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3815 S. Cedar with Rev. Fr. Jose Mundadan as celebrant. Andrews, Valerie R.
Lansing, MI
Age 24, Went to be with her Lord on July 27, 2002, she was born June 19, 1978 in Highland, MI. Valerie was pursuing her degree in Pharmaceuticals at Lansing Community College. She was active with Visions Christian Niteclub, loved to collect stuffed animals and sew. Valerie will always be remembered for her intelligence and strong spirit to persevere over many hardships. She will live on in the hearts in the people who’s lives she touched. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Visions Christian Niteclub in memory of Valerie.
Bateman, Genevieve T.
Lansing, MI
Age 94, died Dec. 10, 2002. She was born Feb. 20, 1908 in Windsor Township, Eaton Co. to Arthur and Sylvia (Swagler) Rinkle and had resided in Lansing for the past 79 years. She was a graduate of Dimondale High School and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald D. Bateman in Feb. 1993 after 63 years of marriage, and by 2 sisters, Doris Rasmussen and Bernice McClintock. She is survived by several nieces, including Helen (R.D.) Twitchell of Dimondale, to whom she was especially grateful for caregiving. Also extended family, Pat and Keith Lundberg; Kay, Harve and Angie Ardis all of Dimondale. She has appreciated and enjoyed the gift of life and wishes to be remembered with love. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the The Rev. Gary L. Bekofske, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Dimondale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
Sage, Margaret A.
Lansing, MI
Age 84, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2002. She was born on October 4, 1917 in Lansing and has been a lifelong resident. She was a member of the National Secretary Association, a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and was employed by Consumer’s Power for over 50 years. She is survived by: brother, John (Betty) Sage of Surprise, AZ; niece, Sharyn Betz of Woodland Hills, CA; grand niece, Emilee Betz of Chicago, IL; grand nephew, Stephen Betz of Santa Clara, CA; and several cousins in Linden and Fenton, MI. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Gordon Weller officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, in Linden, MI at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 26, 2002. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in memory of Margaret Sage.
LaRoue, James L. Jr. "Jim"
Lansing, MI
Age 64, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2001. He was born on September 26, 1936 in Bay City, MI, the son of James and Florence (Rood) LaRoue, Sr. Jim worked happily as a Broadcast and Media Journalist. He was a member of the Holt Lions Club and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Bay City St. James High School and Michigan State University School of Journalism. James was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of the No Duff Golfers. He is survived by: son, Chris LaRoue of St. Louis, MO; and daughter, Colleen LaRoue of Holt, MI. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2001 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with the Rev. Fr. John A. Byers officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 22, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Lansing, Inc.
Andrews, James Corbin
Holt, MI
Age 52, passed away on October 8, 2003 after a brief fight against cancer. He was born on September 16, 1951 in Lansing, the son of Bob and Joanne Andrews, and has lived in the Lansing area all of his life. Jim worked for General Motors for 29 ½ years and looked forward to spending his retirement at his cabin up north. He enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Brian. Surviving are: his wife Sue; 2 daughters, Katrina and Alana; brothers, Tom (Pat) and Jack; Aunt Jane (Doug); Uncle Ed; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice or to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Mr. James C. Andrews.
Kittle, Jon “Big Jon”
Lansing, MI
Born on July 7, 1951, Jon passed away on December 17, 2003 at the age of 52. He was the owner and operator of State Road Towing for over 20 years in DeWitt Township. Jon was very active in running wrecker until his illness limited this activity and he will be sorely missed by many stranded motorists. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping in Canada with special friends and family. Cooking was a specialty and he had a grill and smoker at State Road Towing and often invited friends to stop for lunch and at family picnics he took charge of the barbecue. When his disease became debilitating he never complained and tried to keep his spirits up. Jon appreciated the many thoughts and prayers from all who knew him. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Gobel and Denise Egeland of Palliative Care Services, Pastor Stephanie Crossland from North Presbyterian Church and the staff of Breslin Cancer Center. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ruth Kittle, brother, Dale Kittle of Arizona; and special friend, Tom Lokey. Surviving are: his life partner of 15 years, Karen Wolf; children, Richard, Andrew, and Marcella “Becky” Wolf; goddaughter, Gretchen Allen; sister, Bonnie (Ed) Powell; brother, Dick (Janice) Kittle; sister-in-law, Patsy Kittle; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2003 at North Presbyterian Church, 108 W. Grand River Avenue, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to North Presbyterian Church in memory of Jon Kittle. Andreadis, Sally
Lansing, MI
Age 81, passed away at her home, after a lengthy illness, on September 22, 2002. She was born in Peabody, MA, the daughter of John and Cleopatra Sideris. The family moved to Lansing in 1928, and she graduated from Central High School in 1939. She served the war effort as an employee of Oldsmobile, and Married Stephen Andreadis in 1946, a union which endured over 56 years, and produced a daughter, Stephanie. Sally was a thoroughly good woman, with talent to burn, convivial, energetic, a warm welcome and smile for everyone; she had a full and vibrant life of joy and anguished dreams, and unshackled and fervent love for Stephen and Stephanie. Persiflage was never her style. She was a co-owner and operator of Sal’s Coffee Shop with her husband for 27 years and head cashier and hostess for over 20 years of Lansing’s former downtown restaurants, The Parthenon and The Eagle. She was a charter member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Surviving are: her husband, Stephen and daughter, Stephanie; dear and lifelong friends, John and Sandra Vlahakis, Charles and Mari Krillis, Lola Shattuck, Tony and Mary Stornant, Don Brooks, Steve Zarnas and David Lockhart. Saginaw St., Lansing, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2002, with Fr. Mark Sietsema officiating.
