SANDY, GWEN MARIE
Born February 18, 1958, our loving daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away February 1, 2003. Gwen was predeceased by her father Kenneth Sandy, and is survived by her mother Eugenia Hogan Sandy; sister Gail Sandy Rochon of Lansing; brother Tim Sandy, his wife Mary, and their sons Jeremy and Matthew, of Moose Pass, Alaska; brother Tod Sandy and his wife Annette of Lansing; nephew Greg Rochon of Mason; niece Abby Rochon, and Nick Garza, and their daughter Amya Rae of East Lansing; uncle Howard Hogan of Okemos; several cousins, and her many friends at the high-rise at Edgewood Village in Meridian Township. The family is being served by Estes Leadley Funeral Home. There will be no services at this time, or visitation. St. Vincent's Children's Home played a short, but significant, role in Gwen's life. Those wishing to honor her memory may send their contributions in her name, to St. Vincent's Home for Children, 2800 West Willow, Lansing, MI 48917. Gwen, we have you fast in our fortress, and will not let you depart, but will put you into the dungeon in the round-towers of our hearts, and there will we keep you forever, yes, forever and a day. ...We love you and will miss you, always.
King, Robert L.

Age 76, went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2001. He was born September 18, 1925 in Ellet, OH and has lived in Lansing most of his life. Robert was a retired designer from Oldsmobile, a member of First Christian Church where he was a Sunday School teacher. He was an avid golfer who loved his family and dogs very much. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet; 2 daughters, Robyn (Bill) Lentz of Chesaning, Laura ( Brad) King-Moore of Ann Arbor; 2 step-children, Reta (Dennis) Corr and Gary (Diana) Morgan both of Holt; 8 grandchildren. A memorial service was held at First Christian Church (Disciples), 1001 Chester Rd, Lansing on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Roberts memory. Andersen, Glenn A. Jr. (Jay)

Age 55, died Thursday, March 27th, 2003 in Osphrey, FL. Jay was born in Lansing the son of Glenn and Virginia (Bailey) Andersen. During his lifetime Jay worked as a crane operator until his recent retirement. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #324. He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid skeet and trap shooter. Jay was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Connie Andersen (Beard). Surviving are his wife Sharon, and 3 daughters: Kristen and Kraig Gazley, Kelly and Jim Ryan, Kathy and Ben Van Fossen, his mother and father Glenn and Virginia Andersen, 1 sister Anita Joseph (Andersen), 1 niece Erica Joseph and 1 grandson, Thomas Ryan. Step Children Robert & Andrea Goins, Robin and Robert Follick and 5 step grandchildren, Tiffany, Kyle & Kara Follick and Jessie and Haley Goins. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at the Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius, Holt, MI. Interment will follow in Markham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
Dishong, Josephene Laura

Age 88, passed away on December 19, 2003. She was born on March 16, 1915 in Lansing and has lived in the Lansing area most of her life. Josephene was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a member of Women of the Moose, Chapter #166 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Lloyd A. Dishong in 1990. Surviving are: nephew, Melvyn (Judy) Bauer of Falmouth; and many other nieces and nephews. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with Fr. John A. Byers officiating of Immaculate Heart of Mary officiating. Rite of Christian burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Age 73, passed away on June 10, 2002. Born July 13, 1928 to Margaret and Otto Anderson in DeWitt. She lived in DeWitt, Lansing and Traverse City. Virginia was a homemaker, former owner of Northland Sport Shop. She attended East DeWitt Bible Church for 25 years. Virginia is survived by: 2 sons, Donald (Judy) Kingman of TX and Gerald Kingman of NV; 2 daughters, Linda Bryan of Holt and Carolyn Parker of Bath; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Melvin, James, and Kenneth Anderson; 3 sisters, Ethel Carmack, Nancy (Robert) Ruble and Arlene (Ron) Harmon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: 3 sons, Martin, Wayne and Jim Kingman; 2 grandsons, Joey and Christopher Kingman; and sons-in-law, Thomas Parker and David Bryan, Jr. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Interment will following DeWitt City Cemetery, DeWitt. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the DeWitt Public Library or to the family, in Virginia's memory.
Larner, Arnold Lance

Arnold Lance Larner stepped into everlasting life on January 18, 2004 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born on April 19, 1929 and was a lifetime resident of Delhi Township. Dad served our country during the Korean Conflict from January 1948 until November 1951 in the United States Navy aboard the USS Rochester. He retired from Consumers Power (Lansing) after 36 years. He married Carmeleata K. Crowley in October 1952 and they were greatly blessed by God with 37 years together. Mom passed away in 1989. Dad married Charlene J. Shumway in 1991 and she has remained at his side throughout his illness. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Emma; three brothers, Ivan, Lawrence and Leslie; and wife, Carmeleata. He is survived by his second wife, Charlene; son, Larry (Donna) Larner; daughter, Kathleen (Paul) Fajardo; 5 grandchildren, Pablo (Robbin) Fajardo, Joel, Alexander, David and Jenna Larner; 2 great grandchildren, Elena and Manny Fajardo; stepsons, John Grant, Terry (Sharon) Grant, and Mark Grant; stepdaughters, Sherylynn (Ross) Sattler and Robbin McClure; brothers, Wilbur and Lee Larner; sisters, Norma Larner, Glora Crawford, Verice (Carlton) Hollister, and Lila Starr; and many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren. We would like to thank Dr. L. Wulfekuhler and his staff and special nurses Rose and Phyllis for their care and friendship; Dr. Wartinger; the nurses and staff at Ingham Regional Fifth Floor Oncology wing; and the incredible nurses and staff at St. Lawrence Hospice. The loving care and comfort that you provided to Dad will never be forgotten. To those who sent cards, flowers, visited, prayed, or just kept Dad in your thoughts, your expressions of love touched his heart. Pappas, Vivian L. "Vi" (Paspas)

Age 75, passed away on Jun 23, 2002, after a courageous, 3 year battle with cancer. She was born on September 10, 1926 in Lansing, and has been a Lansing resident all of her life. Mrs. Pappas was proud to be a homemaker, enjoying her domestic responsibilities and spending time with her family. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1945. She is survived by: husband, John G. Pappas; daughter, Linda (James) DeYoung; grandson, Scott (Lori) Powers; great granddaughter, Madison Kelly Powers; step-granddaughters, Penny (Michael) Gibson and Wendy (Joe) Luca; step-great grandchildren, Lauren and Anthony Gibson and Joseph and Matthew Luca; sister, Alice Solomon; brother, George Paspas; sisters-in-law, Millie SanClementi, Mary (Owen) Reed and Barb Paspas; brother-in-law, Arthur Pappas and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, George and Helen Paspas; granddaughter, Kelly Powers; sister, Helen Stanton and brother, Robert Paspas. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in East Lawn Memory Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice Services in memory of Vivian L. Pappas.
Bennett, William Carlisle "Bill"
Lansing, MI
Age 87, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2004. Born in Cleveland, OH, August 27, 1917 to Frank and Beulah (Shear) Bennett and came to Michigan at the age of five and lived on a farm in Clinton County. He was a boy scout in troop 102 and was a graduate of Hubbardston High School, where he was president of the class all four years and graduated as Salutatorian of his class. After high school, Bill went on to attend Acme Business College in Lansing. He married Nellie Shipman on December 25, 1941. He enlisted in the Army and served 4 years and 9 months, where he became Master Sergeant in the Assistant Chief of Staff, G. I. office in an infantry division during WW II in France, Germany and Austria. Bill was honorably discharged on October 29, 1945. He then went on to work for the automobile transporter, Howard Sober and Successors for about 35 years until his retirement in 1980. Surviving are his wife, Nellie; two brothers, Robert G. Bennett of Hubbardston and Donald L. Bennett of Paso Robles, CA; nephew, John Bennett of Hubbardston; 3 nieces, Marcia Kesselring of Tennessee, Valarie Berry of California and Karol Lee Zarick of Toledo, OH. He was preceded in death by: one nephew, Carlyle Bennett. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will be in Westside Cemetery in Hubbardston at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
