Kibbey, LeRoy Gene

Age 77, passed away on April 20, 2002. He was born on December 10, 1924, in Grand Rapids, and has lived in the Lansing area most of his life. Mr. Kibbey was employed at Oldsmobile for 30 years, retiring in 1976 and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy, Fireman First Class, on the U.S.S. Weeden. He presently was a member of Jeruel Baptist Church of Munith, MI. LeRoy enjoyed part-time employment and his retirement with his wife of 52 years, Barbara. He also enjoyed family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as fishing, and music ministry. Also surviving are: his children, Daniel Kibbey, Shawna Kibbey, Kenneth E. Carr and Brenda Carr Norris Abbott; grandchildren, Robert Norris, April Norris Torres, Chanelle Kibbey Christopher, Tiffany Kibbey, Rianna Kibbey, Wesley Clippard, Jeremy Kibbey, Nathaniel Kibbey, Caelan Kibbey, Melissa Kibbey; great grandchildren, Jessica Torres, Robert J. Norris, Derek Torres, Julia Norris, Noah Torres; brother, Lester and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Maude Kibbey; brothers, Kenneth and Ivan Estiedt. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with Pastor Robert Castle and Pastor Thurman Payton officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m., Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or Heartland Hospice, in memory of LeRoy Gene Kibbey.

Age 78, passed away on February 17, 2005. She was born to Hassell and Norine Alexander, on March 14, 1926, in Trenton, TN, the oldest of 13 children. Mrs. Foren was a founding member of Immanuel Baptist Church, participating in the choir and teaching Sunday School for over 45 years, as well as Girls Auxiliary and Vacation Bible School. She retired from Michigan State University after 31 years, was an avid reader, and loved to travel, but her family, church and friends were most important to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Foren in 1976, and by her brother, Sylvane Alexander. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Judy Foren of East Lansing and Cathy (Paul) Kehren of Colorado Springs; 2 grandsons, Douglas (Elizabeth) and Timothy Kehren, all of Colorado Springs; 5 brothers, Doyle (Betty) Alexander, James (Brenda) Alexander, Bassell (Evelyn) Alexander, Gayle (Keliea) Alexander and Harold (Vangie) Alexander; 6 sisters, Dean (Walker) Graves, Mamon Shirley, Helen Gubera, Lougenia (Jack) Underwood, Shirley (Bill) Campbell and Marilyn (Robert) White; sister-in-law, Pat Alexander; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2005, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 4303 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, with The Rev. Justin D. Miller and The Rev. Gayle Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Age 76, passed away Aug. 18, 2002. She was born in Lansing on Dec. 25, 1925 and has been a lifelong resident. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; was a graduate of Michigan State University; and was associated with Mourer-Foster Insurance Co. for 5 years. Surviving are: Husband, Harold Roger Foster; 2 Daughters, Meredith (Randall) Swamp and Kim (Rick) Johnson both of Lansing; Son, John R. (Pam) Foster of St. Johns; 5 Grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Jessica, Lissa, Justin; 4 Great Grandchildren, Makenzie, Aillyana, Madison, Benjamin; Sister, Ruth Miller of Okemos; nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, Aug. 23, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church; 211 N. Chestnut St., with The Rev. Anthony A. Patrick officiating. Age 56, passed away at her home on September 18, 2004. She was born on December 17, 1947 in Hastings, and has lived in the Lansing area most of her life. Chris was the Senior Data Processing Coordinator at the Michigan High School Athletic Association for 21 years, retiring in 2001 because of her illness. She was a member of the Horsehead Lake Association, and was active with the MSU Breast Cancer Crewing Team. Surviving are: her husband, Patrick; children, her mother, Donna Thompson of Lansing; Jodi (Reid) Carlberg of Chicago and Scott (Angela) Porter of Chicago; step daughters, Sheri (David) Melville of Lansing and Rena (Douglas) Dietz of DeWitt; 5 grandchildren, Lynzie, Austin, Lukas, Sierra and Dakota; brother, Bruce (Judy) Thompson of Portland, OR; nephews, Kurt and Lance Thompson. She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Thompson and husband, Frederick Sible. In addition to her family, her passions were the cottage at Horsehead Lake and Christmas. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Mr. Michael Bohnet officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday. Age 66, passed away on August 11, 2002 in Vanderbilt. He was born on October 14, 1935 in Potterville. Mr. Keyes retired from the Lansing School District, and the Michigan National Guard. Surviving are: wife, Mary E. Keyes; 3 children, Frank Earl Keyes, Della L. (Frank) Murrin, and Albert C. “Joe” Keyes; 2 step-sons, James M. (Sheri Kay) Conlin and Brian P. Conlin; 7 grandchildren, Rachel, Lacey, Shane, Amber, Cassie and Joseph Keyes, and John Langin; 3 step-grandchildren, Tony and Brenda Degase, and Sarah Conlin; great grandchild, Skyler Rain Langin. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2002, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association in memory of Frank W. Keyes.

Age 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2002. She was born on August 24, 1921 in Carmi, Illinois, the daughter of Roscoe C. and Agnes (Thomas) Garrison. She was preceded in death by: husband, Carlyle; and brother, Charles Garrison. She is survived by: daughters, Kathleen (Arthur) Kooiker of Wyoming, MI and Carla Kennedy of Royal Oak; son, Robert (Patricia) Kennedy of Dimondale; grandchildren, Scott (Kit) Schmitt, Steven (Jane) Schmitt, Susan (Ken) Brown, Kenneth (Jeannie) Almas, Erin Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Callista Thomas, Maureen Thomas, Colleen Thomas; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Dillard (Peg) Garrison; sisters, Alma Fuller, Alice Bennett, Alene Moore and Vera Niklas; sisters-in-law, Vivian (Paisley) Clark, Joyce Garrison and Margaret Tindall; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Alice Hannula. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 21, 2002 at 11:30 a.m., at North Presbyterian Church, 108 W. Grand River Ave., with the Rev. Dr. C. Lee Filker officiating. The family received friends on Sunday, January 20, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment followed in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. Age 76, was called home to her Lord on October 27, 2001. She was a Foster Grandparent at the Beekman Center, where the children were very important to her. She had many special relationships. Mrs. Carneal was a member of Pennway Church of God. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Linda (Jakway) (Gordon) Lunsted and Karen (Wendell) Crippen; grandson, Nathaniel Lunsted, all of Lansing; 3 sisters, Marilynn (Harold) Hornbeck of Ovid, Alice (Gene) Hayward of Andover, MN and Ruth (Bob) Bosscher of Holt. A funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Richard J. Latham of Pennway Church of God, at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foster Grandparents Program in memory of Juanita C. Carneal.

Age 91, passed away Jan. 31, 2004. He was born in Flint, MI on Jan. 10, 1913, the son of Joseph and Josephine Anas. He was a member of North Presbyterian Church since 1953 and an Elder and choir member; a former Lansing City Councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem; and was the oldest living past president of the Lansing Jaycees. He owned and operated the Karmel Korn Shop on N. Washington for many years and later was associated with Simon Realty Co. He was a former board member of the YMCA; former President of the Lansing Board of Education; former chair of the United Way Campaign; a Past Pres. of the Exchange Club; former member of the Elks Lodge and the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 1993 and a brother, David. Surviving are: 2 Daughters, Catharine (Richard) Dunn of Fairview, MI, Josephine (George) Buchanan of Branford, CT.; 5 Grandchildren, Tim, Linda, Elizabeth, Hilary and Katharine; 2 Great Grandchildren, Erin and Jack; 2 Brothers, Paul and Daniel Anas; Sister-in-law, Lee Anas; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb.. 5, 2004 at North Presbyterian Church, 108 W. Grand River, Lansing with The Rev. Stephanie L. Crossland officiating. The family will receive friends at a memorial visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and at the Church from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
