Age 58, passed away on Aug. 16, 2004. She was born in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY on Feb. 21, 1946 the daughter of the late William H. Peckham and the late Mary Croswell Peckham. She had lived in Connecticut, Arizona, Illinois, and Michigan. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and a member of the Church choir. Margaret graduated from Lansing Community College with a major in Outdoor Education, and worked as a children’s counselor at 3 nature centers in Kalamazoo and Lansing. She has family in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, GA, and friends in Lansing, Canada, and Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with The Rev. Judy Nielsen officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-7p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southside Community Kitchen.

Our loving husband, father, grandfather brother and special uncle, sadly passed away at the age of 66 on October 14, 2004 after a long and courageous fight against his illness. He will be greatly missed and always loved and remembered by his family and friends. Bill was born in Winn, MI. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maria “Sarah” who took such great care of him; his 3 children: daughter, Sarah (James) Spitler; stepsons, John and Joseph Barrera; 4 grandchildren, Mike, Greg, Sandra Spitler and Daniel Barrera; 3 great grandchildren, Aiden, Tiffany and Masen; 3 brothers, Lloyd (Dora), Gene (Mary) and Dowayne. He leaves behind many special nieces and nephews who were very close to him. Bill loved hunting and especially loved to fish with his wife on their pontoon. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2004, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Age 70, passed away on April 6, 2002. He was born on October 17, 1931. Surviving are: his sister, Sharon Buchner; brother, Richard (Janet) Alward. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Lucy; 2 brothers, John and Robert; 2 sisters, Eilene and Darlene. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Thomas VanDyke officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bath. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., on Tuesday, April 9, 2002. Begick, Esther M.
East Lansing, MI
Age 94, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2002. She was born on September 5, 1907 in Zilwaukee, MI, the daughter of John and Barbara (Schindler) Streb. She married George A. Begick on August 21, 1930 who preceded her in death on October 10, 1995. She was a longtime member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walnut Hills Country Club, Lansing Optimist Club and University Club. She is survived by: daughter, Judith Ann Gronewold; son, Jon J. "Jerry" (Debbie) Begick; grandchildren, Ann (Andrew) Percy of Clawson, Margaret Esther Gronewold of Birmingham, Steven (Michelle) Gronewold of St. Charles, IL, Laura Gronewold of Seattle, WA and Christopher Begick of Lansing; and 6 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Burcham Hills Health Center for their excellent care. A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, February 25, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. The family received friends at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m., on Sunday, February 24, 2002. Entombment was in Oakwood Mausoleum in Saginaw, MI. Sivers, Jeane

Age 77, devoted wife, homemaker and encouraging mother, passed away on November 25, 2002. She was born on January 14, 1925 in Johnson City, NY, the daughter of Harmon J. and Mildred (Sherman) Christiana. She lived in the Triple Cities area of Binghamton, New York before moving to Massachusetts, then to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1990 to assist her husband in his duties as the Michigan State Bowling Association Secretary/Treasurer and directing of the Annual Michigan State Bowling Tournament for 5 years. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Lansing; cooked for church activities; volunteered for many church events; was a member of Pro Bowl Ladies Retirees League; and enjoyed golfing and cooking. She is survived by: her husband of 56 years, Raymond Sivers; children, Mark (Norma) Sivers of Fort Worth, TX, Janet Bush of Dayton, OH, Neil (Ruth-Ann) Sivers of Houston, TX, and James (Amy) Sivers of Edgewood, KY; grandchildren, Gregory, Andrea, Sarah, Jeff and Kyle; sisters, Chris (Herbert) Cahill and Thelma (Paul) Marx; nieces and nephews; and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Lansing Road, with the Rev. Deborah Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Bolanowski, Robert Michael “Robbie”

Age 16, was taken unexpectedly from his family and friends on Monday, August 23, 2004. He was born on March 23, 1988 in Flint to Joseph and Brenda (Decker) Bolanowski. Robbie loved music, especially playing bass guitar in his band, hanging out with his friends and chatting with them on line. He was a role model student who had a personality that would always light up the room. Robbie will be dearly missed by: his parents, Joseph and Brenda; brother, Joey; sister, Amanda; grandparents, Ronald and Joyce Decker and Bernice Bolanowski; special friend, Stravroula Kyriakapoulos; numerous aunt, uncles and cousins and many, many friends. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2004 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3815 S. Cedar, Lansing with the Rev. Fr. Gerald Gawronski and the Rev. Bill Acton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Joey and Mandi’s education fund, in memory of Robbie.

Age 86, passed away on January 21, 2005. She was born on July 15, 1918 in Atlanta, IN. She graduated from St. Louis (MI) High School in 1936, and married Russell William Decess, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1987. Also preceding her in death are: her son, Russell William Decess, Jr. in 1983; grandson, Craig Allen in 1980 and siblings, Everett Thomas, Louise Bott, Eva Lilly, Arthur Thomas and Charles Thomas. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Beverly Kesson and Peggy Henderson; 3 sons, Monty Decess, Richard Decess and Scotty Joe Decess; 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; siblings, George Thomas, Margaret McCormick, Wilda Rice and Joseph Thomas. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday. January 24, 2005, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with Pastor Bob Carpenter, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens. Her grandsons, Kerry Kesson, Tom Kesson, Dean Hufnagle, Scotty Joe Decess, Jr. and Monty Ray Decess will serve as Pall Bearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mary Decess.
Allen, Thomas E.

Thomas E. Allen, Born August 22, 1942, died November 29, 2003. Beloved husband of Chris Liebrock, father to Jennifer, Charles and David, Poppa to Tessa and Samantha, brother to Carol and Mary and a very dear man to many relatives and friends. For most of his life, Tom taught various subjects to diverse students in a range of settings. Never separating teaching from learning, and no matter his assignment, Tom taught with careful words, thoughtful listening and quiet examples. Tom loved his family, especially those whom he chose to be family. There will be a memorial service at Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to remember Tom are requested to make memorial gifts of time and affection to their own families or donations to the Capital Area District Libraries, Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or the Sparrow Foundation.
