Age 62, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2002. She was born on October 27, 1940 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Cadorette) Weston. Mrs. Iverson retired from the Lansing School District after 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Ann Strode. Surviving are: her loving husband of 28 years, John; son, Weston Lee Iverson; daughter, Kim Mae Iverson; granddaughter, Nina Grace Iverson, all of Lansing; niece, Amy (Cary) Alpert of West Bloomfield; and brother-in-law, Gerald (Sandra) Mostrog of Hot Springs, AK. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2003 at Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lansing, 855 Grove Street, East Lansing, MI, with the Rev. Kathryn A. Age 88, passed away on Sunday, November 04, 2001. She was born on July 20, 1913 in Weakley County, TN, the daughter of John W. and Bertha (Stoker) Cassilman. Gladys retired from American Bank and Trust in 1978, after 20 years of faithful service. She is survived by: her sister Bertha E. (James) Moon of Gleason, TN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: brother, Dennis I. Cassilman; and sister, Eva Cassilman Highfill. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, November 7, 2001 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. James E. Robinson officiating. Interment followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m., on Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Gladys.
Evoyan, Albert S.
Holt, MI
Age 72, passed away on January 14, 2002. He was born in Sanahin, Armenia on January 29, 1929, and has lived in the United States since 1999. Before coming to America, he was Minister of Agriculture in Armenia. Surviving are: his wife, Elmira; twin sons, Haig and Aram (Sikanoush) Evoyan; daughter, Satig (Garo), all living in Armenia; daughter, Angela (Arsen) Sarkisov of Holt; 6 grandchildren; and other relatives living in Armenia. A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Gordon F. Weller of St. Paul's Episcopal Church officiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2002.

Age 84, passed away on March 8, 2002. She was born in Lansing on November 25, 1917 to Adolph and Amelia (Kroll) Abent. Ms. Abent was the owner/operator of Abent Floral for 55 years. She is survived by: son, Rick Muffler and his finacee, Judy Moshkosky; brother, Gary (Edna) Abent; sister-in-law, Margaret Abent; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are 3 brothers, Alfred, Harold and Arnold Abent. A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Preston, Chaplain of Hospice of Lansing, officiating. The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Sunday, March 10, 2002 at the funeral home.
Fairbotham, Marilyn M.

Age 71, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2004. She was born on November 23, 1932 in Jackson, MI to Edward A. and Brownie M. (Freitag) Carroll. Marilyn was a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She loved to read, put together puzzles and play cards, of which she was a member of a euchre club for 40 years. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Marilyn was preceded in death by: her husband, Neil M., sister, Joan Griffin and her parents. Surviving are: her children, Carroll Hileman, Connie (Ted) Shutes, Daniel (Karen) Fairbotham, Duane (Sharon) Fairbotham and Douglas (Julie) Fairbotham; grandchildren, Christina (Josh), Jennifer, Heather, Joshua, Jay, Joseph, Scott, Nicole, Kerrie, Joanne and Benjamin; brother, James (Vadia) Carroll and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3815 S. Cedar St. with the Rev. Fr. John A. Byers as celebrant. Interment will follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. For those who wish, contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Lansing, in memory of Marilyn.

Age 76, passed away on October 16, 2003. She was born on August 11, 1927 in Big Rapids, MI, and has lived in Holt most of her life. She retired from Beurmann-Marshall, Inc after 25 years as a press operator. Surviving are: her husband of 58 years, Daniel; 2 sons, Gordon (Jill) LaMacchia of Mason and Michael (Sheila) LaMacchia of Opelika, AL; 5 grandchildren, Robin, Matthew, Russell, Brandi, and Jesse; 2 great grandchildren, Donnie and Jimmie; brother, Lyle (Alvina) Ward of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Russell LaMacchia, and daughter, Dawn West. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Interment will follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday and from 6-8 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid Michigan in memory of Luella R. LaMacchia.

Age 101, passed away on April 7, 2002. She was born on December 29, 1900 in Delton, MI, and was a longtime member of Judson Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Frances (Bob) Baisel of Holt and Barbara Newson of Lansing; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Slaght, and by a son, Keith K. Slaght, Sr. A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2002 in the Chapel at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Alda V. Slaght.
Irwin, Dorothy L.

Dorothy’s dearly departed mother and beloved husband came to take her to meet their Lord on February 1, 2003. She was born on September 8, 1922 in Erie, PA, the daughter of Glenn and Dorothy (Brooks) Miller, who preceded her in death. She married Harmon M. Irwin, Jr. on October 10, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1977. Dorothy was very involved with her family and loved spending time with all of them. She was cheerful, caring, compassionate and cared about other people. She was a volunteer for the Michigan Heart Association and attended Pennway Church of God. She is survived by: daughters, Barbara (Ken) Nelson, Bonnie (Warren) Miller, Becky (Tim) Monroe; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; special friend Eddie Pekrul and family; dearest cousins, MaryAnn (Gene) Hodges and Ron (JoAnn) Haag; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Ingham Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at Pennway Church of God, 1101 E. Cavanaugh Road, Lansing with the Rev. Roger Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the church.
