Rhead, Louise M. (Blue)

Louise went to be with her Lord on May 21, 2002 at the age of 78. She passed away at the Hospice of Lansing Residence with her husband, Roland at her side. She was born to Joseph and Margaret (Karrupt) Blue on October 5, 1923 in Coalgate, OK. The family moved to the Holt, MI area in 1928. She graduated from Everett High School. Louise was Chief Deputy Clerk of the former Lansing Municipal Court, retiring in 1965. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, cruising on the Great Lakes, bird and deer hunting, as well as bridge and quilting. She especially enjoyed her time at their summer home on Burt Lake, Indian River, MI. Louise collected dolls, especially Rose O'Neil Kewpee dolls, as well as glassware, pottery and silver plate. She is survived by her husband, Roland; Daughter, Sandra R. (Douglas) Jones of Tucson, AZ; Granddaughter, Cynthia R. (Keith) Shachat of Seoul, S. Korea; Granddaughter, Louise M. Jones of Tucson; Sister, Maebelle (Vincent) Bartos of Ocala, FL. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with The Rev. J. Thomas Green of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Gunnisonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be in Louise's memory to the charity of one's choice.
Burton, John H., Jr.

Age 48, passed away on Nov. 13, 2004. John was born on Jan. 11, 1956 in Lansing, MI. He graduated from East Lansing High School in 1974 and attended Lansing Community College. He was associated with Michael B. Serling, P.C. as a Legal Investigator for 18 years. He is survived by his father, John H. Burton, Sr. of East Lansing; daughters, Melissa (Tim) Berlin, Megan and Mallory; sister, Gale L. Musolf; brother, Joe Burton; 3 grandchildren, Brandon Sanders, Camryn and Austin Berlin; nieces, Kimberly (Bill) Altman and Laura Musolf; and the love of his life, his fiancée Michelle DeWilde and her children, Aaron, Blake and Emily. John was preceded in death by his mother Margaret “Peg” Burton in 1996 and his former wife Nancy Burton in 1999. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Rev. Peter T. Moore of the Greenfield Presbyterian Church, Berkley, MI officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service. Contributions may be made to the John H. Goldberg, Marlea Jenine (O'Berry) (Reed)
DeWitt, MI
On February 20, 2002, Marlea Goldberg, at the age of 52, journeyed home to be with her Lord and her parents, Harry and Betty Reed, and dear friend, Robert Zolkowski, following her encounter with cancer. Mrs. Goldberg has asked that you not mourn; rather celebrate your life and to always remember that "tomorrow is promised to no one." She was born on November 8, 1949 in Lansing, Michigan, and was employed by CATA (Capital Area Transportation Authority) as the assistant to the Executive Director since 1980. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Reed (1996) and Betty Reed (1995). She is survived by her loving, caring, devoted husband, Edward H. Goldberg; son, Stephen (Dusty) O'Berry of Lansing; brothers, Donald (Kathy) Reed of Lansing and Terry (Tari) Wareham of Colorado; grandchildren, Parker, Brandon, Brody, Shyanne, Kayla and Kaitlyn; step-children, Jeffrey Goldberg (significant other-Kathy Burridge) of White Lake, Beth (Steve) Mongeau of Paw Paw, Eric (Melissa) Goldberg of Grandville, and Steven Goldberg of Lansing; special sister-in-law (sis in the heart), Margie O'Berry Solomon of Lansing; mentor and very, very dear "sister" and friend, Sandy Draggoo; mother-in-law, Mildred Goldberg of Northville; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Chomicz of Bloomfield Hills and Marge (Randall) Walter of Northville; brother-in-law, Clarence (Gail) Goldberg of Westland; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many others special to Marlea. A funeral service was held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 23, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with H. James Froehlich officiating. Interment followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., on Friday, February 22, 2002. In lieu of flowers, Marlea has requested that contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or to a charity of one's choice.
Struble, Ruth E.
Lansing, MI
Age 83, passed away on May 6, 2003. Her life was a beehive of activity from her many community involvements to her work at Oldsmobile. She rose through the ranks there, finally becoming one of the first female supervisors in data processing. Ruth’s husband, Rex J. Struble, died in 1971. Ruth was an athlete and a disciplined and involved person. She was an avid golfer and bowler, always active in sporting activities. Her devotion to North Presbyterian Church found her working with young people there as well as completing many church jobs with a generous and joyful spirit. She volunteered at Ingham Regional Medical Center and the Salvation Army for many years. Ruth belonged to the Kiwanis, Olds Retirees Club, Downtown Coaches, and Waverly 39ers, to name a few. Following her retirement, Ruth joined the staff at the Estes-Leadley Funeral Homes, where she worked for 17 years as a greeter. Many people benefited from her dignified yet comforting manner. Ruth was a loving and giving person. She was a proud graduate of the 1938 class of Lansing Central High School. It was very difficult for her to learn that she would not survive to attend her 65th class reunion this June, which she had been instrumental in organizing. She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Jeff Carrow, whom she absolutely adored. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Stephanie L. Spangler of North Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, pallbearers will be, Tom Carrow, Tom Roche`, Hervey Ehret, Paul Wolfram, Tom Struble, Bret Thomas, Jeff Carrow, Dick Butzin and Dick Webster. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beekman Center or to North Presbyterian Church.
Weaver, William W.
Mason, MI
Born on March 12, 1920 in Petoskey, MI, died on April 9, 2003 in Lansing. Mr. Weaver was a veteran of WWII and Korea. Having made military service a career, he retired from the U.S. Army in 1964 as a Chief Warrant Officer. After serving his country for over 20 years, he worked for Borg-Warner in Ft. Smith, AR, as a Time Study Engineer. He then worked as a technical writer for General Motors in Flint; AM General in Lansing and retired from Aeroquip Corp. in Jackson, MI. He was a long time member of the Holt United Methodist Church. Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Ann Weaver; son, Rod (Suzette) Weaver of Charlotte; daughter, Carole (Tom) Myers of Clarksville, TN; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius Rd., in Holt. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the church immediately following the service. Morlok, Wilma B.
Lansing, MI
Age 71, went to be with her Lord and beloved parents, Carl A. and Sadie Morlok on Wednesday, January 2, 2002. Wilma will long be remembered as a loving, pleasant person. She was dearly loved and will be missed very much by her sisters and friends. Wilma was one member of the very famous Morlok Quadruplets born on May 19, 1930 to Carl and Sadie Morlok at Edward W. Sparrow Hospital, after which she was named. and made worldwide acclaim. She did professional stage entertaining in Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania in the early years of her life. She was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and The Virginia Farrell Beauty Academy of Detroit. Wilma had worked as a secretary to the prominent Lansing attorney and prosecutor, Paul C. Younger, the Aetna Insurance Company, and the YMCA in the 1950's. She was a member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Mabel Lyon. She is survived by: 3 quadruplet sisters, Edna A., Sarah C., and Helen D. Morlok, all of Lansing; nephew, David A. (Rosnah) Cotton and their son, Mohammad Alexander Azri Cotton, of Plymouth; several cousins; and special devoted, loving friends at the Pines Healthcare Center, Shirlee and George Melvin, Margie, Stacey and Aaron Johnson, and Carolyn Zima. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, January 4, 2002, with Pastors Daniel M. Buske and Paul J. Lindloff officiating. Interment was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Elliston, Sue Ann Faust (Mc Cuaig)

Age 65, went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2002. She was born on May 10, 1937 in Lansing, the daughter of Harold E. and Kathryn (Fitz) Faust. She was a member of the Clan Mac Leod Society of North America; and a former member of the Clan Campbell Society of North America. She was preceded in death by: her grandparents; and her father, Harold. She is survived by: her beloved of 24 years, Stan; mother, Kathryn (Kay) Faust of DeWitt; Darlene Cross of Mt. Morris; and many other family members and friends. She will be deeply missed. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with Pastor Robert Jones, III officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
Ferrier, Donna J.

Age 77, passed away on December 19, 2003. She was born on October 6, 1926 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Dallas and Olive (Crawford) McCausey. Donna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Holt. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, William W. Ferrier in 1995; and great grandson, Anthony Von. Surviving are: son, David (Mary) Ferrier of Grand Ledge; daughters, Linda (Lester) Kyle of Grand Ledge, and Nona (Bob) Sisler of Holt; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Lee, Kristine, Tina, Vonda, and Dustin; 14 great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Richard Ferrier of Alpena. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Home Hospice in memory of Donna J. Ferrier.
