Street, Charles William
Lansing, MI
Age 82, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 14, 2002. He was born in Flint, MI. on January 14, 1920 the son of Clifford L. and Lucile M. (Bohms) Street. Charles grew up in Flint and graduated from Flint Central High School in 1938. He attended Flint Junior College and Graduated from Michigan State University in 1950, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Nu Fraternity. From 1941-1945 he served his country in both South America and Italy with the 15th U.S. Air Force Division. In 1946 he married Tricia Dennis, whom survives him. He worked for Chevrolet Motor Division, in the sales department, in Flint, the U.S. Rubber Co., the Pennsylvania Rubber Co., the Gates Rubber Co., and Miller Equipment Co. Charles had also worked for the Safety Council of Greater Lansing and for the State of Michigan at the W.J. Maxey Boys Training School. He retired from that position with the state in 1987. Charles was a member of the City Club of Lansing and was affiliated with the Michigan Safety Conference, serving on its board of directors. Being a graduate and avid fan of Michigan State, he was a member of the University Club of M.S.U., the M.S.U. Alumni Association, the Downtown Coaches Club and the Rebounder’s Club. Survivors include his wife Tricia; 3 children, Tricia Ann (Tom) Fraas, Charles William (Cathy) Street, Jr. and John Ryfe (Shawnee) Street along with 4 grandchildren, David, John, and Stephen Fraas and Kristy Street. Private Family interment services will take place. The family is being served by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
Buffone, Frances L.
Walled Lake, MI
Age 69, died suddenly while vacationing in Las Vegas with family and friends. Frances retired from the Michigan Milk Producers Association after many years of dedicated service. She was a very active member of St. William Parish in Walled Lake, Michigan. She was preceded in death by: sister, Helen Coccia; and brother-in-law, John Burek. She is survived by: brothers, Frank (Babe) Buffone and John (Teresa) Buffone; sisters, Rose Burek and Gloria (Jerry) Takash; many nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2003 at St. William Parish, 531 Common Street, Walled Lake, MI. Entombment will follow in Holy Sepulcher Catholic Cemetery, Southfield, MI. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Sunday at the Haley Funeral Home in Southfield, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to St. William Parish, in memory of Frances L. Buffone.
Rey, Dorothy M.
Mason, MI
Age 79, passed away on May 9, 2002. She was born on December 18, 1922 in Lansing. Surviving are: daughter, Penny (Lewis) Mire of Mason; 2 sons, Perry (Connie) Rey of Perry and Robert (Theresa) Rey of Lansing; 9 grandchildren, Robert Rey, Taressa Chaney, Michele Weeks, Chad White, Jeffrey Kline, Wesley Kline, Jonathan Mire, Nathan Mire and Lara Mire; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Mable Trim of Oregon. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert R. Rey, Sr.; and grandson, Jason Rey. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, May 10, 2002 at Deepdale Mausoleum/Chapel, with Chaplain William Everett officiating. The family will receive friends at Deepdale from 3:30 p.m., until service time on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, in memory of Dorothy M. Rey. Buche, Suzanne J.
Portland, MI
Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Suzanne died at the age of 46, on January 30, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. Suzanne was the co-owner of Gibsons Bookstore for the past 20 years. She was an active supporter of the Portland Athletic program and attended both her daughter Danielle and her son, Bridger, sports activities even when her health was failing. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her vivacious personality, generous spirit, and loving manner will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Surviving are: her loving husband, Matt Buche; daughter, Danielle; son, Bridger; parents, Charles and Nancy Poquette; brothers, Ben (Nora) Poquette and David (Amy) Poquette; sisters, Pam (Ross) Rossiter and Nanette (David) Negrette; aunt, Sally (Frank) Crandall; brothers-in-law, John (Janet) Buche and Steve (Peg) Buche; sisters-in-law, Jean Woltz, Beth Ainsworth, and Amy (Jimmy) O’Brien; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2005 at The People’s Church, 200 W. Grand River, East Lansing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Suzanne J. Buche Memorial Scholarship Fund for Athlete’s at Portland High School or to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Suzanne J. Buche.
Dean, Natalie (Swystun)
Lansing, MI
Age 86, passed away Dec. 6, 2001. She was born in St. Louis, MO Sept. 27, 1915 and has lived in Lansing for most of her life. She graduated from Walter French Jr. High School and was a 1933 graduate of Central High School, and one of the top five students in her class of 250. She was a dedicated public servant having worked for the Board of Education and the Prosecuting Attorney's office, and completed her working career with the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors in 1956. Mrs. Dean was a member of the National and Greater Lansing Doll Club. She married her high school sweetheart Clayton Dean on March 25, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1973. Surviving are: 2 Daughters, Barbara (Jack) Sisco and Lynne Ann Dean both of Lansing; 2 loving Grandchildren, Jennie and Mark Boeckmann; 2 Sisters, Marie (Lyle) Belknap of Lansing and Millie May of Valentine, NE; nieces and nephews; and her pets, Shelby and Regis. Funeral services were conducted by The Rev. Howard Belknap at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Child & Family Services, Capital Area.
Domke, Mary Jeanne
Lansing, MI
Age 52, passed away on November 30, 2002. She was born on April 3, 1950 in Rogers City, MI. She was retired from the State of Michigan. Surviving are: daughter, Sarah Vandervoort of Lansing; sister, Joanne (Mike) Edgar of Grand Blanc; niece, Mary Jane Similuk of South Lyon; 2 nephews, Patrick and Chad Edgar, both of Grand Blanc. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mary Domke. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in memory of Mary Jeanne Domke.
Goff, Grace E. (Wendell)
Lansing, MI
Age 67, passed away on March 14, 2002 having fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Jackson, MI on October 13, 1934, was raised in Jackson and has lived in the Lansing area since 1965. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and was a clerk with the Circuit Court of Ingham County for 25 years, retiring in January 2002. Family was extremely important to her. She was a devoted mother who took great pride in raising her five children. It was her happiest times when she had her family around her, enjoying dinner and family events. Surviving are: 5 children, Susan (John) Stimson of Oceanside, CA, Carol Smyth of Lansing, Margaret "Peggy" (James) Thrasher of Buchanan, VA, Julie (Carl) Farrar of Grand Ledge, and Theodore (Cynthia) Goff of Brighton; 11 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rita (Boyd T.) Owings of Lima, OH and Marilyn Wendell of Lansing; brother, Walter (Marcia) Wendell of Grand Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral mass was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Jeffery Robideau at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2002 at the Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The Rite of Committal was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Jackson. The family received friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-5 p.m., on Sunday, March 17, 2002 where the Rosary was prayed at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Irving, Virgie C.

Age 95, a lifelong resident of Michigan, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2003. She was born November 13, 1908 in Bath Township, Clinton County, MI. to Murray and Maude Carter. She attended Lansing Central High School and was the head cashier at the old Sparrow Hospital where she worked for over thirty years, retiring in 1973. Virgie was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan. On October 5, 1926 she married George W. Irving who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ray, George and Wayne Carter and 1 sister, Velma Bush. Mrs. Irving is survived by 1 brother, Rex Carter of Haslett and 2 sisters, Arlene Pryor of Grand Ledge and Bonnie Munn of Amarillo, TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at Rose Cemetery in Bath Township. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to South Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
