Storey, Budy C.

Lansing, MI

Age 65, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2002 at Ingham Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 4, 1937, the second oldest child of six to William and Zelma (Berry) Storey. Bud was a U.S. Veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by: his parents, brothers, Harrison, Sanford and Ervin; and niece, Julie Hayward. He is survived by: children, Boyd Storey of Florida, Bruce (Gunel) Storey of Arkansas, and Debbie (John) Bennett of Virginia; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Noreen DeDyne of Lansing; brother, Dan Storey of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens. Military honors will be provided by Morley S. Oates Post #701 V.F.W. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Bryan, David A., Jr.

Holt, MI

Age 59, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2002. Mr. Bryan was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from General Motors after 35 years of service and then went to work part-time for Willoughby Coin Laundry. Dave was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed following the Lansing Lug Nuts and daily walks with his dog, Charlie. Mr. Bryan was preceded in death by his father, David Bryan Sr.; two grandsons, James and Joshua Thurlby. He is survived by loving wife, Linda; son, Gene (Peggy) Bryan; three daughters, Michelle Bryan, Robyn (Roger) Simon and Debra (Joe) Thurlby; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer, John, Nathan, Wayne and Nicole; mother, Dorothy Brittain; step-mother, Betty Bryan; future son-in-law, Eric Torres; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 1:00 p.m., at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with the Rev. R.L. "Dick" Ammons officiating. The family received friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring are asked to consider a contribution to the Capitol Area Humane Society, in memory of Mr. Bryan.

Irving C. Goebel

Holt, Michigan

Age 84, passed away on October 7, 2004. He was born on February 3, 1920 in Chicago. Mr. Goebel was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S Army, and was a dental technician. Surviving are: wife, Florence; 3 children, Steven (Cindy) Goebel of DeWitt; Beth (Bruce) Korstange of Holt, Jane Goebel of Grand Ledge and grandchildren, Ryan (Amy), Kevin and Brad Korstange, Maggie Burnham and Katie and Ben Hayden. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 S. Clinton, Grand Ledge, with The Rev. Richard McKenzie officiating. Private interment has already taken place. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to send memorial contributions to the Arbor Day Foundation, or to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Irving Goebel.

Searcy, Harold R.

Lansing, MI

Age 89, passed away on March 13, 2003. He was born on October 26, 1913, in Desha, Arkansas, and has lived in the Lansing area most of his life. Mr. Searcy was employed at Melling Drop Forge, retiring in 1978. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, in November of 2002, by son, Jerry Lee, by sister, Eloise Underwood and brother, Jim Searcy. Surviving are: daughter, Rose Ann (David) Patrick; step-son, Robert (Ruth) Steffensen; step-daughter, Sheryl (Stanley) Frazier; 3 grandchildren, Kami (Jim) Pasch, Kim Murphy, and Kirk Guthrie; 4 step-grandchildren, Shelley Frazier, Stacy (John) Jones, Steffen (Linda) Frazier, and Kristina Craft; 10 great grandchildren. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Ingham County Medical Care Facility, Dementia Unit, for their excellent care during the past 6 months. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Rev. Dan Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, where military honors will be provided the Morley S. Oates Post #701, V.F.W. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ingham County Medical Care Facility Foundation, Dementia Unit in memory of Harold R. Searcy.

Kelly, Dennis Allen

Holt, MI

Age 57, passed away October 16, 2003. He was born on October 16, 1946 in Merritt, Michigan, the son of Edward and Arta Maude (Knapp) Kelly. Dennis was a veteran of the Marines, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed as a salesman for Capital Cadillac and Story Oldsmobile, and also was employed as a Home Mortgage Loan Officer. Dennis was an avid golfer and fan of Michigan State University, he was also a member of V.F.W. Post #4129 in Houghton Lake. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Kelly and sister, Peggy Wallington. Surviving are: mother, Arta Kelly of Houghton Lake; 3 sons, Allen D. (Melanie) Sutherby (A.K.A. Dennis Allen Kelly, Jr.) of Canadian Lakes, Randy (Nickie) Kelly of Mason, and Ryan (Shalyn) Kelly of Salt Lake City, Utah; 7 grandchildren, Michael, MaDonna, Damara, Alex, Haley Maye, Denise and Chase; 4 brothers, Jim (Vickie) Kelly of Houghton Lake, Larry (Jenny Lou) Lawrence of Houghton Lake, Ted Kelly of Florida, and Ken (Carol) Kelly of Houghton Lake; 4 sisters, Lois (Edward) Burbeck of Holt, Patty (Jerry) Franek of Holt, Sandra (Bob) Rae of Florida, and Kay Fullerton of Holt; aunt, Leona Park of Houghton Lake; brother-in-law, Delbert Wallington of Houghton Lake; and many, many nieces, nephews and other surviving family members. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Monday at the Christler Funeral Home, 6651 West Houghton Lake Drive, Houghton Lake, MI, where funeral services will also be held, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2003. Interment will follow in Roscommon Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Bruch, Kenneth Joe

St. Louis, MI

Age 38, passed away on March 14, 2002. He was born in Lansing on April 24, 1963. He attended Lansing Eastern High School; served in the U.S. Army and was a member of South Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are: wife, Cathy; daughters, Sara and Tiffany; parents, Wilma and Maynard Bruch; sisters, Denise Foltz and Kimberly (Bill) Harris; brother, Michael (Kelly) Bruch; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Harold M. DeMott and the Rev. David W. Sifferd, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Gunnisonville Cemetery. The family receive friends at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m., on Sunday, March 17, 2002. Memorial contributions may be made to his children's education fund.

Green, Thomas Hobbs, Jr.

Lansing, MI

Age 78, passed away on December 30, 2003. He was born on September 28, 1925 in Lansing, the son of Thomas H. and Bernice E. (Burden) Green. After graduating from Sexton High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Aircorp in 1943. He then attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in Forestry. He retired after 43 years of service as an Inspector for Michigan Department of Transportation and was an avid gardener and fruit grower. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Green. Surviving are: his beloved wife, Naomi M. nee Fenner, whom he married in 1953; children, Laura R. (Daniel) Gillis and Thomas Hobbs (JoAnne) Green, III; 3 grandchildren, Jared, Emily and Jeremy; sister, Susan E. (Mike) Snyder of Cranford, NJ; and nephews, Benjamin and Brian. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2004 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Brown, Shawn Robert

Holt, MI

Age 46, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2002. He was born November 13, 1955 in Lansing, MI the son of Frank H. and Phyllis A. (MacNeal) Brown. Shawn was a 1973 graduate of Holt High and had attended Oberlin College in Ohio. He worked in the family’s insurance business for the past 25 years and had served as past president of the Capital Area Independent Insurance Agents and was the current president of the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents. Shawn was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church in Holt, where he had served as a Deacon. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Susan Brown and their two children Amber and Conner. Also surviving are his father, Frank Brown; one brother, Pat (Barbara) Brown; nieces and nephews, Patrick (Jenny) Brown, Megan (Steve) Herrold, Sara Brower and Ethan Brower along with several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis Brown. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Bruce A Brooks at Noon on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt, 2021 N. Aurelius Rd. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in loving memory of Shawn, to the Olivet College Scholarship Fund for future insurance agents or to the organization to fund Automatic External Defibrillators for the Holt Public School Systems. Envelopes for both organizations will be available at the funeral home.
