Smith, Eileen J.

Eileen J. Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, went home to her Heavenly Father on February 17, 2003. Although in good health, her earthly heart gave out, leading her on the promised path to glory. Left behind are her devoted and loving husband, Don, her daughters, Heather (Gregg) DeLadurantaye and Shawn (Bryan) Ruhf, 11 wonderful grandchildren, extended family members and many cherished friends. We were blessed by her in so many, many ways. Her generous spirit gave us, and continues to give us, comfort and strength. Eileen felt strongly about her relationships with the Lord and her family. In her words, this is her last request, "In lieu of flowers or financial contributions, may families have special times each day with their children.” Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 21, 2003 at Grovenburg United Methodist Church, 1368 Grovenburg Road, Holt, MI, 694-7683, with The Rev. Richard Duffey of Grovenburg United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Markham Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
Gnagi, Ernestine E. (Tina)
Holt, MI
Age 61, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 1990; and brother, Peter Winner. She is survived by: sons, Jim, David, and Jerry Bartel, all of Lansing; daughters, Dawn Wolven of St. Johns, and Heather Gnagi of Lansing; step-sons, Raymond, Patrick and John Gnagi, all of Lansing; 10 grandchildren; sister, Pat Coe; brothers, Randy and Bobby Winner; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Lugger officiating. Rite of Christian Burial followed in Maple Ridge Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Brower, Orion C.
East Lansing, MI
Age 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2002. He was born in Rodney, MI on Mar. 19, 1920, and resided in the Lansing and East Lansing since 1923. He was the manager and owner of Michigan Refrigerating and Warehouse Co. since 1946, retiring in 1998. He married Harriett Reutter in 1941. She preceded him in death in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp.-8th Air Force during W. W. II, flying 29 missions over Germany. He was a Past President of the Lansing Exchange Club and an Honorary Life Member of the Country Club of Lansing. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nellie Brower; brother, John Brower; and sister, Ida McNease. Surviving are: Daughter, Bonnie (Rick) Schuon; Grandson, Michael Schuon (Tracy Bayshore); 2 Granddaughters, Kristy (Ryan) Campbell and Cora Schuon; Great Granddaughter, Tori Campbell; Niece, Sue Van Schoik; several other nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. The family received friends at the funeral home from 12:00p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The family offers a special thank you to all of his loving caregivers. Memorial contributions may be made in Orie's memory to Sparrow Home Hospice Services.
Stoops, Ralph H.
Williamston, MI
Born in McKeesport, PA on August 31, 1904, the son of William H. and Olive Johnson Stoops, passed away on March 29, 2002, at the age of 97. He was preceded in death by his son, Ralph H. Stoops, Jr.; his wife of 52 years, Edith Harwell Stoops; his brother, George; and his sisters, Martha, Dora and Ester. Surviving his are: his daughter, Lorena (Walt) Blinn; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Matthew Martin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Having spent an adventuresome youth in the west, he settled in Highland, IN, and worked as a pipefitter leader at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Steel Company for 36 years. He was the oldest living member of the Oldtimers Club. "I've had a good life. I wouldn't change a thing." The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and social workers on Fifth Floor, North, of Ingham Regional Medical Center, Greenlawn Campus for their sincere kindness and warm and compassionate care.
Brower, John E.
Holt, MI
Age 81, died Saturday, March 19, 2005. John was born August 15, 1923 in Staunton, IL, the son of John and Nellie (Berry) Brower and had lived in Holt, MI for most of his life. John will always be remembered for his sense of humor and love for people. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Thomas, DE102, a destroyer escort in the Atlantic Theatre during WWII. He attended the University of Illinois. He had owned Brower Foods and Hardware in Holt since 1956. He was a past president of the Holt Kiwanis Club, provided 40 years of dedicated community service, served as Michigan District of Kiwanis Key Club Chair, and on the Holt School Board for two terms. He was a member of the VMCCA (Veterans Motor Car Club of America) for many years touring and enjoying his love for antique cars. Another passion developed as the co-founder of the Michigan License Plate Collector’s Association. He was a member of the White Tails Hunting Club. As a volunteer coach driver for Ingham Regional Medical Center he served many people with a smile. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one grandchild. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jane; three children, Tom (Donna) of Holt, Steve of Haslett, MI, and Peggy of Holt, MI; seven grandchildren, Sara (Brian) Walker of Shelby Township, MI, Alicia Watson of Lansing, Ethan Brower of St. Claire Shores, MI, Orion Brower of Grand Rapids, MI, Kenny Watson, Steven and Tashanne Brower all of Holt, MI; three sisters, Lela Glaeser, Theda Knipp both of Mascoutah, IL, and Frances (Paul) Bomberger of Sarasota, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius Road, with The Rev. Lynn E. Grimes officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ingham Regional Volunteer Auxiliary Services, 401 W. Greenlawn, Lansing 48910.
Glick, Alice L.

Age 69, passed away on April 3, 2003. She was born on January 21, 1934, in Owosso, and has lived in the Lansing area most of her life. Mrs. Glick had been employed at Mauer’s Sanitary Cleaners for 12 years. She was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene, where she loved to sing in the choir. Surviving are: her husband, Duane; daughter, Linda (Mike) Cothern of Pensacola, FL; 3 sons, David (Linda) Glick of Bath, ME, Dennis (Kim) Glick of CA, and Randall (Beth) Mowers of Denver, CO; step-children, Kathy Glick of Holt, Judy Glick of Holt, and Duane (Kim) Glick of Marine, MI; 16 grandchildren, Alison, Gina and John Cothern, Daniel, Andrew, Anna, Jesse, Benjamin, Debra, Rachael, Cara, Hannah and Aaron Glick, Jennifer, Stefanie and Dayna Mowers; great grandchild, Sean Cothern; brother, Leroy (Sue) Mead of Lansing, 5 sisters, Connie Thomas of Oxford, MI, Joy Bacon of Alma, MI, Darlene (George) McBride of Owosso, Marilyn (Mark) Cappo of Louisville, KY and Dawn Mead of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Arebella Mead, and by sister, Janice Garcia. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with The Rev. Wilfred R. Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Ridge Road Cemetery, Oakely, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday. There will be no Sunday visitation.
Fulton, Ronald Dale
Lansing, MI
Age 66, Went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 1, 2003 at the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. He was born in Lansing, MI. on February 7, 1937 the son of Charles, Sr. and Clara (Mollitor) Fulton. Ronald retired from G.M. in 1994 following 33 ½ years of service. He was a member of Lansing Aerie # 1039, F.O. Eagles as well as Elk Lodge # 1982 in Houghton Lake, MI. Ronald was also an avid Walleye fisherman and loved to Bowl. He once bowled a “300” and was very proud of that. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Arlene Fulton; son, Dennis Lee (Heather) Fulton of St. Robert, MO.; daughter, Nancy Jean (Tim) Haggart of Lansing; 3 grandchildren, Nicole Arlene Fulton of Hawaii, Eric Douglas Haggart and Sarah Renee Haggart, both of Lansing. He is also survived by his mother, Clara Fulton of Lansing; 4 brothers, Charles R., Jr. (Virginia) Fulton of Lansing, Robert J. (Barbara) Fulton of DeWitt, Roy L. (Cindy) Fulton of Lansing and James D. Fulton of Lansing along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members. Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Fulton, Sr. and one sister Donna Jean Fulton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Danny Stoneham of Capital City Church of God officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in loving memory of Ronald, to Habitat for Humanity.
Browder, Donald R.
Lansing, MI
Age 73, passed away on January 17, 2004. He was born on June 20, 1930 in Marked Tree, AR, the son of Ray and Thelma (Walker) Browder. Donald is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce; daughters, Diane, Michele (Bob) and Caryn (Mark); and grandchildren, who all loved him dearly. No services will be held.
