Brisboe, Jason Joseph

On August 8, 2004, Jason Joseph Brisboe, age 28, went home to be with the Lord. Jason was a 1994 graduate of Holt High School. Jason graduated in 2001 as a firefighter from Lansing Community College, Fire Fighters Academy. He was known for making friends easily, for his carefree spirit, and for his love for music, as he was an avid drummer. Jason was a member of the MSU fraternity, Theta Delta Chi. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Margaret and Stanley Duchnowski; and George Brisboe. Surviving are: his parents, David L. and Shirley; sister, Stacie; grandmother, Joyce Brisboe; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Loy G. Lack, Chaplain of the Lansing Fire Department at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2004 at Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius Road, Holt. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your local firefighters.
Brintnall, Geraldine “Gerry” (VanCore)
Lansing, MI
Age 81, walked on February 10, 2004 after a courageous year long battle with ovarian cancer. Born on August 5, 1922 to Napoleon and Nina VanCore, Geraldine was a lifetime Lansing resident. She graduated from Lansing Central High School (now “Old Central” on the campus of Lansing Community College) in 1941. She attended the Lansing Business School, Michigan State University and completed correspondence courses at Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. She proudly contributed during World War II at the Red Cross transmitting telegram messages between service members and their families and as base secretary for the United States Marine Corps. unit stationed at Abrams Aerial Survey in Lansing. Later in life she enjoyed being a Mary Kay consultant. She married Warren Kirth Brintnall on March 21, 1948. She was a juried artist in both oil and water colors and had many shows hung around the Lansing area. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She was an avid “birder” and in addition to making many bird walks she would watch televised professional golf tournaments during the long Michigan winters “just to hear the birds singing”. She was a member of the Lansing Art Guild, Matinee Musical, Friends of Fenner Arboretum, Capital Area Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Warren, in 1998 and sister, Valadine Langworthy in 1997. She is survived by: daughters, Karen Corsair-Semrau (Bob), Jan Brintnall, “New York daughter”, Dr. Eileen Wilson; brother-in-law, Virgil Langworthy; cousins, Margaret Bourne and Donna Perry; longtime family friend, Gloria Fitzpatrick; and very special K-9 companion, Bubba Lou. Heartfelt thanks go to caregivers, practitioners and friends: Pat Pritchett, Stacey McBee, Jill Asch, Diane Rhodes, Kim Raslton-Wright, Rosie English and the dedicated nursing staff of Ingham Regional Medical Center, CICU, for without their talents, care and commitment, Gerry would not have been able to return to, and remain in, her beloved home during the last months of her journey. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Stonebrook, Ann
Lansing, MI
Age 57, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2002. She was born on August 11, 1944 in Redford Township, MI. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was an organist and also taught several classes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Kendal, on February 5, 2002; and her father, George H. Fetzer. She is survived by: daughter, Melanie (Mark) Steadman; son, Ian Stonebrook; mother, Margaret Fetzer; brothers, Peter (Pat) Fetzer, Gary Fetzer, and Thomas (Annette) Fetzer; and sister-in-law, Sharon Wheeler of Oregon. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 431 East Saginaw St, East Lansing, with Bishop Jerry Sumerex officiating. Interment will be in Delta Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, in Ann's memory.
Duby, Hazel J.
Holt, MI
Age 88, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2002. She was born on August 25, 1914 to Thaddeus and Edith (Delo) Wardwell in Fremont Township. Hazel owned and operated Williamston Floral as well as Duby's Lake Lansing, Lookout Inn in the Ossineke/Alpena area and Alibi in Tawas City, MI. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Duby, sisters, Creole Thompson, Virginia Placer, Geraldine Ward and Flossie Berry. Surviving are two brothers, Dale (Ruth) Wardwell of Holt and Keith A. (Hazel) Wardwell of Florida and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Jose Mundadan officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Winn, MI. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Gilbert, Floyd William

Floyd William Gilbert, Jr. was born August 27, 1942 to the late Floyd W. and Rosie M. Gilbert Sr. He and his family relocated to Lansing in 1950 when he was 8 years old. In 1960, Floyd graduated from J.W. Sexton High School and then from Michigan State University in 1965, with a bachelor degree in Accounting. Floyd moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1974 and successfully accomplished a senior level career in accounting. At his time of death, Floyd was working for R.J. Dale Advertising as their Senior Accounting Director. Faith in Jesus Christ will give you eternal life, and with knowing this Floyd gave his life to Christ, and was a faithful member of Faith Community Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. Floyd brought laughter and joy to many people and even though we will no longer be graced with his presence we will have our precious memories to forever hold and cherish. Floyd leaves to celebrate his memory, 2 sisters, Freda M. Robertson and Carolyn Grace, both of Lansing, MI; and 3 brothers, Christopher Gilbert of Providence, R.I., Raymond Gilbert and N’Giere Abdul Wali, both of Lansing, MI. Also, 8 adoring nieces, 7 special nephews, a host of cousins, extended family, friends, and godchildren. A life long friend, Sam Hopkins, and someone close to his heart, 6 year old David Stevens. Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in Lansing, MI at Friendship Baptist Church, 925 W. Main. Family hour will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Grace was born on May 18, 1909 in Edgely, N.D. and went to her Lord on January 8, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chapman on September 15, 1991. She is survived by: son, Jack (Ramona) Canfield; step-son, Gary (Hattie) Chapman; step-daughter, Karen Little; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Grace will be remembered by her family and friends for her keen sense of humor. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2003 at Deepdale Memorial Gardens Chapel, with the Rev. Rodney Schwab officiating. Gibson, Richard E. “Gibby”
Lansing, MI
Born on September 14, 1933 in Carson City, passed away on December 6, 2004 at the age of 71. Richard was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army Armored Division 131st Tank Battalion. He was employed by Fisher Body for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a life member of the N.R.A. and the Michigan United Conservation Club. Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Penny Steen in 1996. Surviving are: his wife of 49 years, Betty L. Gibson; daughters, Peggy L. Gibson and Patti M. Gibson-Frieling, both of Lansing; grandchildren, April Steen, Amy Steen, and Cameron Frieling; great granddaughter, Alexis Root; mother, Minnie Johnson; brothers, Theodore (Joyce) Gibson of Lansing and Roland (Lucille) Gibson of Stanton; sister, Gloria Phillips of Ovid; and many nieces and nephews along with lots of “extra” kids. Gibby was the life of the party. He will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2004 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ingham Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services or to a charity of one’s choice, in loving memory of Richard E. Gibson.

Age 57, passed away on May 16, 2002. She was born on November 25, 1944 in Lansing and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Bernard and Una Callahan. She is survived by: husband, J.C.; 4 children, James Toliver, Terrie, Stevie and Billy Wilder; 4 grandchildren, Jason, Steven and Mayleen Wilder and Ramesha Turner; 1 great grandchild, Jayson Garcia; 2 brothers, John and Pete (Maxine) Callahan; 3 sisters, Penny (Roger) Meier, Paula White and Doris Tucker; and biological mother, Vera V. Naggy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 1901 Massachusetts Ave., Lansing, with the Rev. Paul W. Garrett officiating.
