Weaver, Dorothy A.

Born on October 20, 1924 in Beloit, Wisconsin, died on September 13, 2003 in East Lansing, Michigan. Mrs. Weaver spent most of her life married to William W. Weaver as a career U.S. Army wife, who raised two children. She was also a former employee of the J.W. Knapp Co., working in the housewares department. She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and was a member of the Holt United Methodist Church, belonging to the United Methodist Women’s Caroline Circle and to the Body and Soul Group. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William (2003). Surviving are: her son, Rod (Suzette) of Charlotte; daughter, Carole (Tom) Myers of Clarksville, TN; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Anderson. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius Road in Holt. McAttee, Lucille G.
Lansing, MI
Age 83. Devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Born at home on Clark Street in Lansing on Christmas day, 1918, she lived her entire life in the Lansing/Dimondale area and died on April 21, 2002. Mrs. McAttee worked as a secretary for business and the State of Michigan, including the Commissions on Aging and Construction Safety, the Boy's Training School, and the Departments of Mental Health and Social Services, retiring from the Department of State. She and her husband, Harold, were founding and active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church, singing in its choir, serving on committees and working with the church's Hmong refugees. In retirement she enjoyed researching and compiling family histories. Mrs. McAttee was preceded in death by: an infant son, Geoffrey; her husband of 49 years, Harold; and three brothers and one sister. She is survived by: two sons, Eric (Sally) McAttee of Milwaukee, WI and Eugene McAttee of Novato, CA; and one grandson, Christopher. In addition, she is survived by: sister, Elizabeth Anderson of East Lansing, MI; brother, Arthur Janetzke of Northville, MI; and many nieces and nephews. The family received visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, April 26, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 27, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1601 W. Holmes Road, Lansing. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 10:00 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends were invited to a luncheon at the church, following interment. Age 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2002. Born August 3, 1922 in Bancroft, MI to Earl and Agnes (Bowles) Shelp. She married Stanley DeYoung on December 27, 1944 and they have resided in Lansing ever since. Marvel was a long time member of Calvary United Methodist Church. A very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. She is survived by: husband, Stanley; children, Doug (Cynthia) DeYoung of Charlotte and Jan King of Lansing; grandchildren, Angela DeYoung, Brad (Young) Choi-DeYoung, Lorenzo DeYoung, David King and Laura (Joe) Chin; great grandchildren, Erica and Victoria King and Alexis Chin; sister, Twyla Beamish of Owosso; brother, Robert Shelp of Weidman, MI. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Reta, Mildred, Vera and Doris; brothers, Laverne, Raymond and Ernest. A funeral service was offered at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, March 8, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Jane Duffey of Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. The family received visitors from 12:00 p.m., until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Calvary United Methodist Church, in Marvel's memory.
Walker, Evelyn Lorraine
Lansing, MI
Age 79, passed away on May 10, 2002. She was born on January 7, 1923 to Roy and Mabel Ward. She was married to Norman "Nick" Walker on May 23, 1942 in Lansing where they have lived ever since. Evelyn volunteered for the Girl Scouts, Elmhurst and Lewton schools and the Junior League at Sparrow. Evelyn is survived by her children, JoAnn (Norman) Burch, James (Cindy) Walker, Janice Walker and Bill Southerling, Jane Walker and Katie Kelley; grandchildren, Jamie (Trent) Klebe of Vista, CA and Dawn Walker and Aaron VanHalst; two sisters, Phyllis Peters and Helen McKinney; sister-in-law, Katie Walker and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Norman "Nick" Walker; brothers-in-law, Robert R. Walker and Melvin "Pete" Peters. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. officiating. Interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hospice of Lansing or Sparrow Hospice Services.
Geisenhafer, William R.
Eaton Rapids
Age 71, passed away on September 17, 2002. He was born on November 19 1930, in Lansing, and has lived in Eaton Rapids all of his married life. Surviving are: his wife of 47 years, Eleanor; 2 sisters, Betty Boyd of Lansing and Carol Ann Finton of Jackson and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Geisenhafer was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Marines, and had been employed at General Motors for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He was currently a dog show judge with the American Kennel Club, and was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of Eaton Rapids. Other memberships include the American Golden Retriever Club, the American and Potomac Skye Terrier Clubs and the Ingham County Kennel Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Pure-Bred Dog Development Fund. Age 79, our loving husband and father was called home to the Lord on March 17, 2005. Born April 17, 1925 in Indiana. Loren was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Navy. He retired from Southern Michigan News. Surviving are: his wife of 50 years, Joyce; 5 children, Stephen, Lori (Sam) Soderberg, Cindy (Jim) Johansen, Tim (Julie), and Kristin (Steven) Bean; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with the Rev. Royce Allen of Trinity Church officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
George, Fred M.

Age 80, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2004, he was born on May 16, 1924 in Ionia to Fred A. and Minnie (Arnold) George. Mr. George was a veteran on WW II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was an insurance agent for 30 years working for Michigan Mutual and Centennial Insurance retiring in 1987 as a sales and marketing executive. Mr. George was a former member of the Chamber of Commerce, Masonic and Elks Lodges, the VFW #701 and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Kathryn in 1966 and son, Dennis George in 1996. Surviving are: his daughter, Patricia (Gary) Smigelski of Potterville; granddaughters, Heidi and Tara; brothers, Erwin (Mary) George of Kentwood, MI and Lyle George of Loveland, CO and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Baldino, Frank

Age 92, passed away on March 23, 2002. He was born on January 10, 1910 in Cozenza, Italy. Mr. Baldino was a member of Church of the Resurrection and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He owned Mike's Superette and enjoyed wood carving, farming, and hunting in Michigan and Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara in 1994; and 3 brothers, Sam, Paul and Joe. Surviving are: 2 sons, Michael (Sandra) Baldino, and John Baldino, all of Lansing; daughter, Rose Marie (Jack) Calabrase of Lansing; 5 grandchildren, Frank, Tom, Laurie, Julie and Greg; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Pete) Fortino of Grand Ledge; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral mass was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. William J. Koenigsknecht, at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Ave., with the rite of committal at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family received friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., on Monday, March 25, 2002, where the Rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Resurrection or to Resurrection School, in memory of Frank Baldino.
