Duncan, Lois Ann (Huntley)

Age 70, died Friday, August 13, 2004 after a brief illness. She was born September 11, 1933 in Lansing the daughter of Earl and Genevieve (Rowand) Huntley. She graduated from Potterville High School in 1951, where she met Lou, the love of her life and husband of 52 years. She was employed by the Michigan Department of State from 1951 until her retirement in 1988. Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving family: husband Louis; daughter Stacey (J.P.) Duncan-Jackson and son Brent (Valerie Kim), all of Grand Ledge; grandchildren Whitney Duncan (Robert) McFadden of East Lansing; Matthew and Kaitlin Duncan of Grand Ledge; brother Gerald (Sharon) Huntley of St. John’s; and her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Delta Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ingham Regional Medical Center – Cardiac Intensive Care Unit or to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Mrs. Duncan. Her love of family and her strength for life have been an inspiration to her family and to those close to her. We have been blessed with her presence in life and know that through love and memories, she will live forever.
Jenks, Charles R. “2 Words”

Age 65, passed away on October 28, 2003. He was born on July 23, 1938 in Lansing, the son of Charles Edward and Helen June (Leisure) Jenks. He loved carpentry, bowling, music, watching t.v. and also loved Euchre. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark G. Jenks; and his parents. Surviving are: former wife of 27 years, Mary Lou Jenks; children, Michelle Rich (fiancé Robert DeLeon), Shawn Jenks (Dawn), Todd Jenks, Tamara (Michael) Graham, and April Jenks; 7 grandchildren; brother, Elzy Jenks; half-sister, Joyce Hannah. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Tamara Graham.
Sparks, Major W. "Sparky"

Age 71, passed away on April 14, 2002 in Charleston, S.C. He was born on April 15, 1930 in WVA. Sparky was a member of Masonic Lodge #33, Mt. Moriah American Legion Post #460, the Hoods Chapel in Bonneau, S.C. and an associate member of First United Methodist Church in Lansing. He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Jean; daughters, Linda (Jay) Muth and Brenda Morrissey; grandchildren, Anne Gardner, Carrie Bridges, Sarah Clevenger and Christopher Muth; great grandson, Alex Gardner; brother, George Sparks; sisters, Louise Zankowitz and Jane Ann Atkinson; sister-in-law, Nancy (Jack) Hager; nephew, Robert Hager and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Sandra Green; brothers, James and Fred Sparks. A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with the Rev. Stephan Weinberger of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., on Monday, April 8, 2002 at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association in Sparky's memory.
Donald Sherman Dunn
Lansing, Michigan
Age 46, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2004. He was born on September 29, 1958 in Lansing to Donald K. and Phyllis Dunn. Donald was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and recently employed at Ferguson Development. One of his greatest joys was attending the Chamber’s Family reunion in Virginia every year. He truly loved his Savior, family and country. Donald is survived by: his children, Donald F. “Frankie” (fiancée, Jaime), Morene Michele and Kent Hamilton Dunn; grandson, Christien Dunn; mother, Phyllis M. Dunn; sister, Diane (Douglas) Simons; nephew, Darrel Simons; niece, Dori Simons and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his father, Donald K. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with pastor Toby Teague of Leslie First Baptist Church officiating. Harris, Mayleen Sue
Age 64 passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2003. She was born on February 24, 1939 in Jackson, MI to Hubert and Gladys (Woods) Gish. Mayleen worked for Department of State for 15 years and prior to that, Consumers Power in Jackson for several years. She was actively involved in her church and loved to travel. Mayleen was very devoted to her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Ryan Harris, 2 brothers, Louis R. and John E. Gish and her parents. She is survived by her brother, Harry (Karen) Gish of Jackson and sister, Ellen (Denny) Pieske of St. Petersburg, FL. and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel on Saturday, October 4, 2003 with the Rev. William Waltz officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Jackson, MI. Dyer, Gladys M.
Lansing, MI
Age 99, passed away on January 12, 2004. She was born on January 7, 1905 in Lansing, the daughter of Gustuv and Helen (Miller) Peters. Gladys was employed by the State of Michigan as a payroll clerk and spent many years living in Florida, where she had many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Dyer in 1972. Surviving are: children, Ronald Dyer and devoted friend, Lola Arbaugh, and Lawrence (Joyce) Dyer; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and sister, Isabel (Jim) Hill. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. George Michalek at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Street, Lansing. Rite of Christian Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and she will lie-in-state from 9:15 until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Foldi, Donald Ralph

Went to be with our Lord on Monday, September 15, 2003. He was born on May 14, 1934 in Carleton, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Francis and Teresa Foldi. He is survived by, Bettie, his wife of 37 years; his daughters, Jamie (Michael) Wyborski and Mary (John) Widener; step-daughter, Diana (Charles) Sinclair; step-son, Steven (Kathy) Klabunde; his brothers, William (Barbara), Robert (Jean), Richard (Patty) and George (Laurie) Foldi; and grandchildren, Scott Sinclair, Matthew and Jessica Klabunde, Jacob and Rachel Wyborski, and Mikayla and Aaron Widener. Donald served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. He retired from the Michigan Department of Transportation in 1995. He loved his family first and foremost. His interests included bowling, golf, travel, and pinochle. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the River Terrace Church 1509 River Terrace Drive, East Lansing, with Pastor Clayton Libolt officiating. Interment will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt, Michigan. Visitation will be held at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel on September 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing Residence or to a charity of one’s choice.
Folkert, Lynn A., Ph.D.
Lansing, MI
Age 57, passed away on August 16, 2001. He was born on November 9, 1943, in Holland, MI, and lived in Lansing for many years. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BA, MA and Ph.D. Dr. Folkert worked for the Lansing Public School District for 34 years, serving as a teacher and an Administrator. He also served on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing and the Cran-Hill Ranch Family Youth Camp, and was a trustee of Woldumar Nature Center, as well as participating in a variety of other community organizations. He was a member and former Consistory member of Immanuel Community Reformed Church. Dr. Folkert was preceded in death by his father, Francis M. Folkert, and sister, Ardeth K. Hook. Surviving are: his wife of 36 years, Charlotte; son, Darrel; daughter, Melanie; granddaughter, Xaria; mother, Della Folkert; sister, Vivian (Russell) Dubbink; brothers, Dale (Sharon) Folkert and Mark (Mary) Folkert; brother-in-laws, Steve Hook and Glenn (Glenda) VanHuis; sister-in-law, Elaine Cresswell; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2001, at Immanuel Community Reformed Church, 3200 Delta River Drive in Lansing. The family received friends from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, and Dr. Folkert will lie-in-state at the church from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cran-Hill Ranch, or to Woldumar Nature Center in memory of Dr. Lynn A. Folkert.
Dynnik, Marguerite

Age 78, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2001. She immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1966 and worked at MSU in the Food Science Department, retiring in 1990. She is survived by: daughter, Irene (Alexander) Saharov of Montreal, Quebec; son, George (Judy) Dynnik; 2 grandsons; and 2 great granddaughters. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2001 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with the Rev. Dr. Mark Sietsema, Priest officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with an 8:30 p.m., Trisagion at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Fund.
