Elinor McWilliams
Elinor M. McWilliams, born Aug. 11, 1917, passed away Sept. 26, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Arthur R. McWilliams, who died Dec. 8, 2000.
They are survived by seven children, William (Rose) McWilliams of Jackson, Carolynn (Terry) Palmer of Somerset Center, Kathleen (Milton) Rutan of Columbus Ind., Robert (Donna) McWilliams of Kalamazoo, Arthur (Barbara) McWilliams Jr. of Grandville, Mich, Larry (Susanne) McWilliams of Medina, Ohio, and Jerry (Pamela) McWilliams of Port Charlotte, Fla.
A graveside memorial service will be held for Arthur and Elinor on Oct. 21, 2006, at 3 p.m., at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, corner of M-50 and M-52, near Tecumseh. A buffet dinner will be held at 4 p.m. at the Clinton Inn, 104 W Michigan Ave (US-12).
Alice L. Clark
Alice L. Clark, age 87 of Somerset Center, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at the Lenawee County Medical Facility in Adrian.
She was born on April 4, 1919 in Rollin Township, to Karl F. and Margaret A. (Mettert) Prochnow. She married Kenneth Lamoine Clark on Dec. 26, 1965, in Addison, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1998. Alice lived in the Addison/Rollin area for many years, and then lived in Somerset Center for the past 20 years. She worked at the former Bank Café in Hudson, then was a cook at Addison Hospital and the Addison Senior Citizens Center. Alice was a life member of the Gravel Grinders Travel Club, an avid bowler in Brooklyn and Addison, a member of the Pittsford Grange, member of the Addison Senior Citizens Center and a member of UGOIGO of Pittsford.
Alice is survived by five sons, Duane Kohlenberger, Bruce M. (Bev) Clark, Scott L. (Paulette) Clark, George S. (Kathy) Clark all of Addison, Jac T. (Debi) Clark of Saline; two daughters, Mary Ann (Harold) Hancock of Osseo and Darlene (James) Steele of Hudson; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Donna (Bob) Hill and Shirley (Bill) Carr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lamoine Clark; a sister, Ardyth Prochnow; and a brother, Clarence Prochnow.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison. Burial was held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association.
M. Glenn Cox
M. Glenn Cox, 41, of Brooklyn, died suddenly on Sept. 7, 2006, at Bixby Hospital in Adrian. He was born the son of Marvin and Phyllis Cox on Feb. 5, 1965, in Wayne, Michigan. They survive as do his son, Jeremiah of Wayne; sister, Shawn (Ken) Cox-Toney; nephew, Dustin of Belleville; fiancée Margaret (Peggy) Shouse; and step children, Brian and Nicole Howell of Addison.
Glenn was known for his love of Mopars and his orange, 1970 Superbee. He owned Cox and Son Transport.
A memorial service will be held at Rollin Friends Church on Saturday, September 30, beginning at 4 p.m.
Martin G. Braun
Martin G. Braun, 55, of Marco Island, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006. Martin was born Dec. 26, 1950, in Adrian, Mich., to Richard and Dorothy (Gilbert) Braun. He graduated with the Adrian High School Class of 1969 and then went on to serve with honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Martin graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago in 1978. He married Stephanie (Joy) Potts of Battle Creek, Mich., on September 27, 1986. Martin owned and operated M.G. Braun Funeral Home in Brooklyn and Jenter-Braun Funeral Home in Manchester. He moved to Marco Island in 2000, where he worked as a realtor for Prudential Florida WCI on Marco Island.
Martin is survived by his wife, Stephanie (Joy); daughters, Jessica who currently is attending the University of Florida in Gainesville and Kelsey who is still at home; parents, Richard and Dorothy Braun of Marco Island, Fla.; sisters, Cindy Braun of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Carol (John) Cordes of Rockford, Mich.; brother, Keith (Sheryl) Braun of Marco Island, Fla.; his best friend, Jake; along with several nieces and nephews. He was a member of F. & A.M. Lodge 148 of Manchester, the United Church of Marco, the National Board of Realtors, the Marco Island Board of Realtors and past member of Michigan Funeral Directors Association.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, 703 Capital Avenue, S.W., Battle Creek, Mich. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Malsack of the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Barbara B. Brown
Barbara B. Brown, age 81 years, of Addison, Mich., passed away suddenly Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at her home. She was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Addison, the daughter of Cecil and Alma (Benttel) Dow. She lived most all her life in Addison and wintered in Grand Island, Fla. Barbara was a graduate of Addison High School, attended Siena Heights University in Adrian for two years and graduated from Adrian College with a B.A. Degree in Teaching. She married Paul L. Brown in the Addison Church in 1947 and he survives. She was a former secretary for insurance agencies in Adrian and Jackson and was a retired secretary from the Juvenile Court in Jackson. She was a member and Past Matron of Faith Chapter #217, O.E.S. in Addison and of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Surviving besides her husband, Paul, are two sons, Jeffery (Janet) Brown of Jackson and James (Pamela) Brown of Somerset; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anne Edison of Old Town, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison with Rev. the Marvin Potter officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen-Burt Cemetery near Ransom. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
Cecil “Bud” L. Green
Cecil “Bud” L. Green, age 70 years of Rollin, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at home.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1935, in St. Johns, Mich., the son of Cecil P. and Helen A. (Cretty) Green. He attended St. Johns Schools. Bud served in the United States Air Force. He married Elizabeth McKimmy on April 2, 1970 in St. Johns and she survives. He enjoyed hunting, playing pool and cards, and spending time with his beloved grandkids and friends.
Surviving Bud are his wife, Elizabeth; his son, Mike (Donna) Green; his daughter, Michelle (George) Myers; his grandchildren, Andy, Jackie and Makayla, all of Cement City; three brothers, John (Janis) Green of Alma, Lon (Ann) Green of Grand Rapids and Paul Green of Alma; three sisters, Ruth Rogers of Lansing, Dorothy Bauenahan of Grand Rapids and Minnie Carol Green of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard; and his sisters, Grace Loomis and Sharon Riley.
Cremation has taken place and a family gathering is being planned for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in Bud’s name to Hospice of Lenawee County. Envelopes are available at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson.
Ola Mae Henson
Ola Mae Henson, age 73 of Onsted, passed away Sept. 12, 2006, at home. Ola was born on Nov. 10, 1932, in Hazard, Ky., the daughter of Amie and Lizzie Watts.
Mrs. Henson is survived by her children, Jackie (Bill) Pankow of Brooklyn, Bill (Irene) Henson, Linda (Mark) Bouchard of Onsted, Carol (Mark) Rodriguez of Dearborn Heights, Jerry Henson of Winchester, Ky; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kimmie Comb and Jessey Henson; and daughter-in-law, Becky Henson.
Services have taken place at Roseland Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were entrusted to Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel.
Betty Arlene Herrmann
Betty Arlene Herrmann, age 83 of Brooklyn, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 13, 2006.
Betty was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Rohrig) Stephenson. She married Leonard C. Herrmann, Jr. on Nov. 27, 1946, in Ypsilanti. Betty is survived by three children, Lyndel Compau of Brooklyn, David (Cindy) Herrmann of Jackson and Michele (Larry) Williams of Atmore, Ala.; and 4 grandchildren, Jenny Compau, Christopher, Cody and Marissa Herrmann; and her former husband. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Wilfred Stephenson and Edward Stephenson.
Betty served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW II and was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Brooklyn. She was a loving mother and grandmother and the best anyone could ever ask for. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, watching birds and deer.
A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, beginning at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Kelly Smith officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the family for future designation. Envelopes will be available at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Napoleon.
Adrian Case Marsh
Adrian Case Marsh, age 32, returned to the Lord on Sept. 10, 2006. Adrian was born on May 18, 1974, in Ypsilanti, Mich., the son of Michael Sr. and Helen (Francis) Marsh and they survive.
Besides his parents of Clarklake, Adrian is survived by Michael R. Marsh Jr. (Tina and Ashley) of Willis, Mich., Michele (Samir) Hamid of Dearborn, Sheila (Curt) Stanley of Canton, Jason (Sharmane) Marsh of Clarklake, Melissa Bolton of Ypsilanti, Barry (Kristen) Marsh of Liberty; seven nieces; 13 nephews; and ex-wife, Amy Marsh. Adrian was an enthusiastic sportsman who enjoyed rustic camping, sailing, fishing, hunting and target shooting. He won many trophies for 5K running including second place in the Run Clarklake event. Adrian was a perfectionist who had a creative personality and was always broadening his horizons. He earned a certificate in Auto Mechanics and also an Associates Degree in Business Administration and was currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Baker College. He was an awesome cook who loved music and traveling. Adrian also had a love for animals including his black lab Judas and cats Emily and Millie. Adrian was loved by all: words cannot express how much he will be missed by everyone. He will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Adrian’s life will take place on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, beginning with prayer from the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel in Brooklyn, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church with Father Lehr Barkenquest officiating. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Jackson. Memorial contributions may be given to the Adrian Marsh Memorial Fund care of LaSalle Bank to be used for a Scholarship Fund at Baker College. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Erwin L. McMaster
Erwin L. McMaster, age 78, died Sept. 14, 2006, in Lansing.
He was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Victor Township, Laingsburg, Michigan, and was the son of Wilbur J. and Ilah (Pierson) McMaster. Erwin began his lifelong career in automotive sales and reached his lifelong dream when he established McMaster Ford Inc. in Brooklyn, in 1973 and retired in 1997. He was honored by Ford Motor Company with many awards for sales and achievements.
Erwin was a member of the Elks Lodge and he and his wife, Marian, loved to travel in their motor home throughout Michigan. They spent many winters in their home in Nokomis, Fla. Upon his retirement, he and Marian moved back to the family centennial farm to be close to family.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Marian L. (Cosper) McMaster; sons, Daniel L. (Susan) McMaster of Laingsburg and Jeffrey L. McMaster of Lansing; grandchildren, Jennifer McMaster (Victor) Reid III of Royal Oak and Daniel (Lenore) McMaster of Owosso; great-grandchildren, Aidan McMaster and Victor Reid IV; brother, Daryle L. (Dianne) McMaster of Eaton Rapids.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Tiffany Funeral Home in Lansing. Interment was at Reed Cemetery in Victor Township.
