Violet R. Giberson, age 79 of Addison, died on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital in Angola, Ind.
Florence V. Trigger
Florence V. Trigger, 90, of Champaign, Ill. died in Champaign on July 29, 2003.
Born Aug. 21, 1914 at Wamplers Lake, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Lavina E. (Thompson) Rothfuss and was the youngest of 11 children, two of whom died in infancy. On Dec. 24, 1939 she married Kenneth J. Trigger at the Rothfuss family home.
She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1931 and from Michigan State College in 1936. Before her marriage she taught in several school districts in northern and western Michigan. Golf was her favorite recreational activity.
Surviving are three sons: James (Karen) of Plano, Texas, Thomas (Joyce) of Richmond, Texas and Jeffrey (Carolyn) of Champaign; five grandchildren; four great grandsons; one brother, Guilford Rothfuss of Jackson; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pauline Creger
Pauline Clara Creger, age 87, of Brooklyn passed away on July 29, 2003. Pauline was born in Brooklyn on June 17, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Cruse) Davis. She married Leo T. Creger on September 19, 1934 in Brooklyn and he preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Marjorie (Dan) Crawford; Margaret (Jerry) King; Ken (Judy) Creger; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by 1 brother, 1 sister and 4 grandchildren. A celebration of Pauline's life was held on Saturday, August 2 at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, DeJeu Chapel, Brooklyn beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Neil Randall, Pastor Kenneth Creger and Pastor John Masters officiating. Memorials may be given to Pauline's family for future designation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Burial was held at Roseland Memorial Gardens, Napoleon.
Russell Weide
Russell Weide, age 79, passed away July 30, 2003. He was born Dec. 30, 1923 in Alpena, Mich., the son of Rudolph and Martha (Klieber) Weide. Mr. Weide married Viola Ryba on Aug. 23 ,1947 and she survives.
Russell served our country in the Army during WW II and was part of the invasion of Normandy. He also had a passion for and the ability to work on cars.
Besides his wife, Mr. Weide is survived by his children, James (Jill) Weide of Addison, Gregory Weide of Somerset Center, Eugene (Kathy Walther) Weide of Sterling, David Weide and Brenda Pfund of Somerset Center, Diane (Larry) Kellenberger of Jonesville; 11 grandchildren; sister, Janet (Ralph) Davis of Westland. Russell was preceded in death by his son, Michael in 1971; grandson, Jeremiah Weide and one sister, Vera Arnold.
A celebration of Russell's life was held at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, DeJeu Chapel (formerly Jenter-Braun Funeral Home, Brooklyn) on Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 with a procession to St. Rita's Catholic Church for Mass with Father Lehr Barkenquest officiating. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
McKenzie Elizabeth Zukowski
McKenzie Elizabeth Zukowski, age nine months, of Cement City, passed away suddenly at home on July 31, 2003. McKenzie was born Oct. 10, 2002 in Ann Arbor the daughter of Crystal Richardson and Benjamin Zukowski and they survive. McKenzie is also survived by her grandparents, Tony (Deborah) Zukowski of Milan, Glenna (Alan) Hale of Milan and John (Shirley) Richardson of Cement City; and her great-grandparents, Richard (Peggy) DePuydt of Arizona.
A celebration of McKenzie's life took place on Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Cement City Baptist Church with Pastor Drew Woods officiating. Burial took place at Cement City Baptist Church Cemetery.

Elton R. Begeman
Begeman, Elton R., age 84, Aug. 3, 2003 of Port Charlotte, Fl, and Clarklake Miich., formerly of Trenton. Beloved husband of Gerry. Loving father of Tom (Nancy), Mary Begeman, and Jill (Michael) O'Donohue. Also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at The Martenson Funeral Home, 3200 West Rd., Trenton, Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. Interment Michigan Memorial Park. Visitation Tuesday 4 to 9 p.m. An expression of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Barbara Mae Miller
Barbara Mae (Miller) Myers, 88, of Clarklake, Michigan died Aug. 2, 2003 in Columbus, Ohio. Born March 24, 1915, Barbara lived in Jackson, Detroit and Clarklake throughout her life and most recently at Abbington of Arlington in Columbus. A loving wife and mother, she raised three children while utilizing her unique and creative talents in many ways. She painted numerous oil paintings and was a member of the Palette and Brush Club in Detroit.
An accomplished seamstress, she designed clothing for her children as well as home decorations and gifts. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing and was an active member of the 88er's Music Club for many years.
Of her many accomplishments, she was most proud of her loving family and delighted in family gatherings.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Myers, sisters, Helen (Miller) Wimmer and Phyllis (Miller) Filer. She is survived by her brother John H. Miller of Jackson, Mich.; children John (Rita) Myers of Powell, Ohio; Susan (Bill) Henke of Stevensville, Michigan, and Robin (Kevin) Mitchell of Powell, Ohio; as well as grandchildren Brenda, Rob, Lang, Kayce, Emily and Shannon, who lovingly called her "The Graminator"; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held in Barbara's home located at 1708 Eagle Point Drive, Clarklake, Michigan on Wednesday, August 6, from noon to 3 p.m.
Irene Anne Emery
Irene Anne Emery, 74, of Manchester passed away peacefully at home July 24, 2003. Irene was born in Brooklyn on October 18, 1928, the daughter of Alphonse and Helen (Bartlett) Bauer. She married Richard Emery on July 10, 1948, and he survives. Mrs. Emery was a life member of the Disabled Veterans of America Auxiliary. Besides her husband, Irene is survived by her children: James R. (Karlan) Emery of Aurora, CO, Judith A. (Willard C.) Cleland, Jr. of Brooklyn, Janelle K. (J. Todd) Hutson of Brooklyn; 7 Grandchildren: Michele and Jeffrey Emery, Bobbie Jo (A.J.) Town, Tonya L. Cleland, Janessa, Janeana, and Jada Hutson, 2 Great Grandchildren: Nakyshia C. Brown and Tristan J. Town, 3 brothers, 6 sisters. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
A funeral service for Mrs. Emery was held on Tuesday morning at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, DeJeu Chapel, with Father Tim Krzyzaniak, Reverend Deacon Elise Cole and Pastor Dexter Hurt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Jackson.
Theodore Greenwald
Theodore Greenwald, age 82 formerly of Brooklyn, died on July 23, 2003, in McBain, Michigan.
Elsie J. McFarland
Elsie J. McFarland, 88, of Onsted, died on Monday evening, July 21, 2003 at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian. Elsie lived most of her life in the Manitou Beach-Onsted area.
Virginia H. Mummery
Virginia H. Mummery, 91, of Horton died on Sunday, July 27.
She lived most of her life in Ann Arbor before moving to Brooklyn. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be set at a later date.
Dennis "Ernie" Reynolds
Dennis "Ernie" Reynolds, age 85 of Addison, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2003 at W.A. Foote Hospital in Jackson. He was born on January 26, 1918 in Jackson, Michigan, to Harold W. and Olive F. (Blakely) Reynolds. He married Helen M. Felt on June 4, 1949 in Wayne, Michigan and she survives.
Ernie lived all of his life in Addison. He graduated from Addison High School in 1937. He worked for the Addison Department of Public Works since 1937, retiring in 1980. Ernie was a member of the Addison Fire Department for over 50 years, officially retiring in November of 1995 but was still active until 2000. He was past Assistant Chief and also Chief of the Addison Fire Department. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army where he was a radar mechanic. He was a member of the VFW Lodge # 9453 of Cement City, member of the Hannon-Colvin Post #180 American Legion in Hudson, member of AARP, member of the Addison United Church, member of the Good Sam's Nationwide Camping Club, former Mason and former member of the IOOF of Addison.
Surviving besides his wife, Helen, are three sisters, Mary Reynolds-Stoner of Addison, Leone (Bud) Lee of Addison, Ilah Burch of Addison; one brother, George J. (Ilah May) Reynolds also of Addison; nephews, nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by one son, Larry Reynolds; brother, Robert C. Reynolds; and one sister, Anna Caroline Halliwill.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at the Addison United Church in Addison with Pastor Robert P. Norman officiating. Burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery in Addison. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home in Addison. Full Military Rites performed by the Hannon-Colvin Post #180 American Legion of Hudson, Michigan. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Addison Fire Department or to the Addison United Church. Envelopes are available at Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home.
Harry D. Gier
Harry D. Gier, age 71 of Glennie, Michigan, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003. Harry was born May 25, 1932 in Napoleon the son of Carl and Madeline (Aiken) Gier. He retired from Miller Truck & Storage after 30 years of service and was a member of the Lions Club. He also served in the Navy.
Harry is preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother; one daughter, Michelle (Robert) Linenfelser; two sons, Harry (Colleen) Gier Jr. and Rodney Gier; seven grandchildren, Brandon Gloar, Chrissy Gloar, Andrea Worden, Ashley Gier, Aaron Gier, Cody Gier and Hailey Rae Gier, one great grandchild, Chayce Gloar; one sister, Joan Hartley; and four brothers, Donald (Carolyn) Gier, Raymond (Lisa) Gier, Jerry (Jan) Gier and Wayne (Carol) Gier.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, DeJeu Chapel in Brooklyn (Formerly Jenter & Braun) Thursday, July 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Milan Maybee officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to The Cedar Knoll Care Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
