Stanley G. Blowers
Pastor Stanley G. Blowers, age 94 years, of Brooklyn, went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at his home. Stanley was born on November 6, 1911, in Brooklyn, Michigan, the son of Raymond E. and Lillian A. (DeLong) Blowers.
He graduated from Brooklyn High School and worked at J. L. Hudson Company in Detroit, for two years. Stanley came to the Lord in 1930 in Detroit, and with his wife, began seventy years of faithful service to God. He was a Youth Director, Associate Pastor, Pastor and Missionary for several churches in Jackson, Hillsdale and Lenawee Counties, with twenty-eight years of Missionary Church planting to the people of the Bahamas. He attended Winona Lake School of Theology and Moody Bible Institute. Stanley married Bessie E. Elliot on January 25, 1936 in Brooklyn. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brooklyn.
Surviving Pastor Blowers is Bessie, his dear wife of seventy years marriage; two daughters, Mary Kreiser and husband, Fred of Brooklyn and Joy Warren and husband, Mark of Paxton, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Johnson of Battle Creek and Beth Wraight of Spencer, N.C.; four nieces and one nephew and their spouses.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Brooklyn with Pastor Rob Schneider and Pastor C. Edward Knauss officiating. Private intermenty will follow at Highland Cemetery in Brooklyn. Memorials are suggested to Gideon Bible Society or Heartland Hospice. Jeffery Lynn Elrod
Jeffery Lynn Elrod, age 37, of Brooklyn passed away on March 23, 2006. He was born October 30, 1968, the son of Jack and Ruthann (Dilworth) Elrod in Jackson.
Jeff is survived by his son, Jeffery Jr. “JJ,” and his mother; step-father Charles and Ruthann Tilden; father and step-mother, Jack and Rose Elrod; his sister, Christina Ronders; step-sisters, Sheri Clary, Connie Bristow, Angie Harnden, and step-brothers, Fred and Dennis Wenzlick. Jeff is also survived by nieces Danielle and Carissa Ronders; Kari Carpenter, Jessica Cannon, Lindsey Johnson and one nephew Zachary Johnson. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeff was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Phyllis Dilworth and James and Helen Elrod.
Interment will be at Roseland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to an education fund for his son, “JJ,” set up at Flagstar Bank. Services were held March 30, at Brooklyn Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christine Barnes, Rev. Robert Malsack and Pastor Drew Woods officiating. Arrangements were made by Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Larrabee (Larry) Foster
Larrabee (Larry) Foster of San Diego passed away in late February. Larrabee was a 1938 graduate of Addison High School.
James J. White
James J. White, age 71, of Brooklyn, passed away March 21, 2006. He was born September 21, 1934 in Lincoln Park, MI the son of Raymond and Amelia (Gendron) White. He married Shirley Dean Paschal on October 13, 1956, in Dearborn Heights, Mich. and she survives.
James is also survived by his two children, Terry James (Doreen) White and Samuel John (Mary) White, both of Brooklyn; six grandchildren, Terry James, Kenneth John, Samuel John, Emily Ann, Christopher Daniel and Ashley Samantha; three siblings, Donald White of Southgate, Allen Roberts of Taylor and Rosemary Roberts of Paradise. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
James was a member of the American Legion Post in Brooklyn, the VFW in Westland, Irish Hills Eagles and the Gilead Baptist Church. A Celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel, Brooklyn with Pastor Ken Creger officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Ruth May Hulbert
Ruth May Hulbert, age 90, of Cement City passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of her family on March 22, 2006. She was born May 3, 1915 in Cement City the daughter of Emory and Hazel (Parkus) Irelan.
She married Elwood “Red” Hulbert and he preceded her in death in 1999. Ruth was also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Arnett and seven brothers and sisters. Ruth is survived by her children, Barb (Don) Seburg, Albert (Barbara) Young and William (Barb) Young; eight grandchildren; Doris (Mike) Horsfall, Cheryl Irvine, Brad Young, Albert Young, Jr., Lorrie Vaus, Bill Young, (Daphne), Sue (Daryl) Hatt and Mark Young; four step-grandchildren, Carol, Dena, Lori and Scott Seburg; 11 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and sister, Frances Stone. Ruth was a member of the Cement City Baptist Church.
A Celebration of her life took place on Monday, March 27, at the Cement City Baptist Church with Pastor Drew Woods officiating. Burial took place at Roseland Memorial Gardens. Carole A. Bratu
Carole A. Bratu, age 72 years of Onsted, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian.
Carole was born on January 30, 1934 in Adrian, the daughter of Carson E. and Dorothy E. (Stutzman) Garrison. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1951. She received her teaching certificate from County Normal School and taught school in the Ogden area. She moved to the Northern Suburbs of Chicago where she lived most of her adult life until returning to the Onsted area in 2002.
Carole worked at Brookshore Lithographers in Elk Grove, Illinois. Carole married Nick Bratu on August 22, 1968 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1997. Surviving Carole are her three sons, Dan Gunsaullus, Steve Gunsaullus both of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Scott Gunsaullus of Itasca, Illinois; stepdaughter, Janice Smith of Carol Stream, Illinois; stepson, Jeffery Bratu of California; grandchildren, Amy Gunsaullus of West Palm Beach and Alex Smith of Carol Stream; two brothers Paul (Shelly) Garrison of Detroit and John (Charlotte) Garrison of Onsted; many nieces, nephews and special friends including, Sandy McKown. Carole was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Marlin Garrison.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Dunn Chapel, Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Onsted with Pastor Melany Chalker officiating.

Vivian Stanley
Vivian Stanley, age 83, of Brooklyn passed away March 14, 2006 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Jackson & Oaklawn. She was born November 9, 1922 in Deerfield Township the daughter of John and Margaret (McKinley) Gurden. She married James Stanley on November 29, 1942 in Detroit and he survives.
Vivian Stanley is also survived by her children, Barbara (Dave) Montgomery, Janice (Duane) Hester all of Brooklyn, Jim (Lynette) Stanley of Rochester Hills and Bob (Cathy) Stanley of Largo, Fla. ; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Vivian was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
A Celebration of her life took place on Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel in Brooklyn with Pastor Dale Grimm officiating. James William Ludwig
James William Ludwig, age 86 of Brooklyn passed away March 14, 2006, at W. A. Foote Memorial Hospital. Jim was born in Detroit on October 15, 1919. He married Elsie Soth and she preceded him in death in 2001.
Mr. Ludwig is survived by his children, Lawrence (Marilyn) Martin, Thomas (Janice) Ludwig, Patricia (Howard) Krausman, Jerry (Diane) Ludwig and Diane (Duane) Scholl; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, James Ludwig.

Rhea Peck
Rhea Peck, age 82, passed away Friday, March 10, 2006 at Countryside Care Center. She was born on November 5, 1923 to Fred and Lila Pearl (Chapman) Ebbert in Clarklake. Rhea married Paul R. Peck on April 15, 1944 in Jackson and he preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Howard Ebbert and Emmett Ebbert. Rhea is survived by one daughter, Paula (John) Rowe of Westminster, Md.; two brothers, Harley Ebbert of Moore, Mont. and Harvey Ebbert of Clarklake; two grandchildren, John P. Rowe of Buckhannon, W. Va.; and Sarah Simmons (Aaron) of Pittsburg, Pa.; and one great grandchild, Evan Robert Simmons. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and a former member of the Jackson Board of Realtors.

Virginia R. Goble
Virginia R. Goble, age 84, of Brooklyn passed away Saturday, March 18, 2006 at W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital. She was born February 28, 1922 in Detroit the daughter of Charles and Anna (Moxley) Harris. She married Arthur Goble on December 24, 1966 in Clark Lake and he survives.
Virginia is also survived by her daughter, Marianne (Alan) Dutton of Albion and step-son, David C. (Pattie) Goble of Las Vegas. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carole Rooney.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel in Brooklyn beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robert Bolton officiating. Richard “Rich” M. Filter
Richard “Rich” M. Filter, age 51, of Onsted passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at his home. He was born in Tecumseh on August 1, 1954, the son of Richard R. and Phyllis M. (Ehlinger) Filter.
Rich graduated from Adrian High School. He was a Master Electrician, owning and operating his own business, Filter Electric Corporation. He married Patty Uphold in September of 1978 in Denver, Colorado. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2004. Rich enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with his boys. Surviving are his sons, Matthew and Joshua, both at home; his parents, Richard and Phyllis Filter; sister, Connie Sturtevant; and brothers, Mark (Penny) Filter and Gary (Diana) Filter, all of Onsted and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A private intermenty of ashes at North Rome Cemetery, Rome Township, Lenawee County, Mich. will take place at a later date.
