Loretta E. Shedlousky
Loretta E. Shedlousky, age 78, of Napoleon, passed away Oct. 26, 2003 at Arbor Manor in Spring Arbor Township. Loretta was born in Hartsell, Ala., on July 26, 1925, to Luther and Bernice (Templeton) Price. She married William Shedlousky and he preceded her in death. Loretta worked for the war effort during WW II.
Mrs. Shedlousky is survived by her children, Carol (Charles) Moore on Napoleon and Jerry Shedlousky of Columbia, S.C.; four grand children and two great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Loretta was preceded in death by a daughter and her brother.
A Celebration of Mrs. Shedlousky's life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Brooklyn Chapel, beginning at 2 p.m. with the Pastor Stan Blowers officiating. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH, 44720 or United Cerebral Palsy, 1660 L Street, N.W., Ste. 700, Washington, D.C., 20036. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home, where family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Olive Grace Ames
Olive Grace Ames, 97, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on Oct. 18, 2003. She was born Sept. 6, 1906, in Hillsdale County on a farm near Camden, Michigan, the daughter of John W. and Mary Ellen (Cornwell) Freed. Mrs. Ames attended Luke Country School in Camden and graduated from Coldwater High School. She married Earl Ames on Sept. 10, 1930 in Bryan, Ohio.
Mrs. Ames came to Hudson in 1929. She was the bookkeeper for her brother, Charles Freed, who operated the Ford dealership. Mrs. Ames and her husband owned Ames Truck Line and were involved in a farming operation.
She is survived by a son, Alan Ames and his wife Loretta of Hudson, and a daughter, Janet Deuel and her husband Eugene of Onsted. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Terrie Mapes, Lynne Dutmers, David Ames, Kelly Ames, Kathy Larsen, Kimberly Ames, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, daughter Phyllis, three brothers and three sisters. At the request of Olive, no visitation is planned. There will be a private graveside service for family. Burial will be made in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hudson, Michigan. Memorials are suggested to the Hudson Museum or to the Hudson Public Library. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home in Hudson.

Lucille L. Goodwin
Goodwin, Lucille L., age 79 of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2003. Lucille was born on January 16, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Otto William and Mary Anne (Eighbrod) Schutt. Mrs. Goodwin married Harold Goodwin in Grand Rapids, Ohio, on August 10, 1946, and he survives. Lucille was a kind and loving wife and mother. She was also an excellent homemaker and lived in Brooklyn for the past 45 years. Besides her husband, Harold, she is survived by her children: Bev White, Karen Baird and Gary Goodwin; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Goodwin's life was held on Sunday, October 18, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel in Brooklyn with the Reverend Milan Maybee officiating. Memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Envelopes were available at the funeral home where Lucille's family received friends on Friday, October 17.

Theran Joseph Malone
Theran Joseph Malone, age 94, formerly of Detroit passed away at home in Brooklyn on February 6, 2004. Mr. Malone was born on November 13, 1909 in the village of Munising in the Upper Peninsula, the son of George and Lena (Gallinger) Malone.
Theran married Irene Louise Berube on January 4, 1933 in Munising and she preceded him in death in September of 1995. He was a member of the St. Joseph Shrine Knights of Columbus and the Jackson Elks. Mr. Malone was employed at Vickers, Inc. as a purchasing agent until his retirement in 1972.
He is survived by his children, Theran (Jean) Malone of Escondido, Calif., Dolores (John) Percha of Dearborn Heights, Deanna Roberts and Dennis Malone of Brooklyn, and James Malone of Flint; his sister Theola Smith and 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Theran was preceded in death by his son-in-law William Roberts, daughter-in-law Sandy Malone, brother-in-law Todd Smith, brother and sister-in-law Cluen (Anne) Malone, and sisters Mona and Hortense Malone.
A celebration of Mr. Malone's life was held on February 9 at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church with Fr. Carl Simon officiating. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Lenawee or St. Joseph Shrine. Arrangements were made by Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel in Brooklyn.

Luella Trapp
Luella Trapp, age 93, of Jackson, formerly of Napoleon Township, passed away at home, Feb. 6, 2004, with her family at her side. Luella was born in Auburn, Ind., on Oct. 6, 1910 to Isaac and Effie (Imhoff) Buss. In May of 1927 at Garrett, Ind., she was married to Vernon Trapp and he preceded her in death in 1989. She is also preceded in death by one son, Frederick "Fritz" Trapp in 2001.
Surviving are three children, Howard (Janet) Trapp of Clarklake, Pat (Terrie) Brewer of Florida, and Donald (Melodie) Trapp of Jackson; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Luella was an avid quilter, a retiree of Napoleon schools where she was a cook for many years, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where funeral services were held on Monday, February 9, with pastor Donald Anderson officiating. Interment took place at Roseland Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, contributions to Calvary Baptist Church or Hospice of Jackson and Oaklawn would be appreciated. Arrangements were under the care of Nichols-Arthur Funeral Home in Michigan Center.

Edward John Orlowski
Edward John Orlowski, age 81 of Brooklyn, passed away in Jackson at Highland Home for the Aged on Jan. 19, 2004. Edward was born in Jackson on May 30, 1922, the son of Frank and Helen (Pacewicz) Orlowski. He married Lois (Gajewski) Orlowski on February 26, 1949 in Lansing and she survives. Mr. Orlowski was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #7945, and Polish Legion of American Veterans #83. He served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in the South Pacific during WWII. Ed was employed at Rockwell Standard for 25 years during which time he made his home and raised his family in Chelsea. Mr. Orlowski was also a partner/owner of Xact Products in Brooklyn. Ed retired in 1986.
Along with his wife of 54 years, Ed is survived by his children: David (Patsy) Orlowski of Clinton; MarcyAnne (Richard) Bollinger of Chelsea; Constance (Patrick) Doher of Jackson; Deborah Orlowski of Chelsea; Roxanne (Bradley) Angelocci of Chelsea; Jacqueline (Thomas) Zaski of Woodstock, Ga.; brothers: Stanley Orlowski and Bernard (Mary) Orlowski of Jackson; sisters: Dolores (James) Hawley, Helen (Donald) Rhodes of Jackson; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John Orlowski; sister Theresa Wilmoth; and grandsons: Thomas Lee and Kevin Bollinger.
A celebration of Mr. Orlowski's life was held on Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rita Catholic Church with Father Lehr Barkenquest officiating. Internment was held at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Chelsea. Memorials may be given to St. Rita or St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea, Hospice of Jackson & Oaklawn, or the Interfaith Shelter. Envelopes are available at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel, Brooklyn.

Dorothy L. Randles
Dorothy L. Randles, age 75 of North Adams, formerly of Cement City, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at the home of her daughter Bonnie McFall.
She was born on March 5, 1928 in Frazeysburg, Ohio to James and Lilly (Whyde) McFarland. She married Ernest A. Randles in 1965, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2000.
Dorothy spent her early life in Ohio, then she lived in Cement City, Mich. for 20 years. For the past five years she lived with her daughter Bonnie in North Adams. She was a member of the Addison United Church.
Surviving are one son, Carl F. (Shirley) McFarland of Cement City; two daughters, Connie Randles and Bonnie (Floyd) McFall of North Adams; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marcelene (Ted) Sanders of Arkansas, Doris McGolflin of Dayton, Ohio, Elsie Holcomb of Frazeysburg, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, two brothers and ten sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison with Pastor Keith W. Porter officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Addison. The visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Norman Every Schultz, Sr.
Norman Every Schultz, Sr., age 80, of Cement City, passed away on Feb. 2, 2004, at W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson. Norman was born to Norman and Edra (Every) Schultz on April 12, 1923 at his maternal grandparents' farmhouse in Cement City.
He graduated from Cement City High School in 1941. He married Evalyn Smith on Nov. 11, 1942 in Liberty Township and she survives. Norman was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and loved traveling in his fifth wheeler.
Besides his wife, Norman is survived by a son, Norman (Jolena) Schultz, Jr.; daughters, Joyce Stemen and Joleen (Kirk) Green; grandchildren Martin Schultz, Whittnae (Steven) Prchlik, Kenton (Wendee) Green, Jodi (John) Collins and Jeffrey Green; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Carl.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, American Stroke Association or the charity of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, where members will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Private intermenty will take place in Cement City Cemetery at a later date.

Virginia Ruoff
Virginia M. Ruoff, age 73 of Addison, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2004 at W.A. Foote Hospital in Jackson.
She was born on July 27, 1930 in Jerome to George and Iva (Frarey) Watson. She married Clair E. Ruoff on August 7, 1948 in Manitou Beach and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1999.
Virginia lived her early life in the Hillsdale area, and then she lived most of her life in the Manitou Beach-Addison area. She graduated from Addison High School in 1947. She was co-owner of Ruoff Trucking and then she was a secretary for Leslie Huffman Insurance Agency of Addison for 30 years.
Surviving are two daughters Peggy S. Ruoff of Somerset and Sharon Seelye of Addison; son Gary E. (Naomi) Ruoff of Somerset Center; stepsons Jerry Ruoff of Parma and Joseph (Linda) Ruoff of Albion; extended children Anna Wright of Jackson and Bernie Bryant, Jr. of Somerset Center; grandchildren JanJee Johnston, Jason Ruoff, Jaime Ruoff, Kendra Waldron, Jill (Jon) White, and J.D. (Trina) Ruoff; brothers Richard (Lou) Donovan of Tennessee and Roger (Kaye) Watson of Britton; three sisters Nancy (Jim) Cleve of Manitou Beach, Judy (Bill) Reynolds of Lake Columbia and Jenny (Kenny) McCarty of Inverness, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, greatgrandchildren and adopted family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son and one brother.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 23, 2004, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison with Vince Bridge officiating. The burial was in the Woodstock-Sanford Cemetery in Woodstock Township.

Edward John Orlowski
John Edward Orlowski, age 81 of Brooklyn, passed away in Jackson at Highland Home for the Aged on Jan. 19, 2004. Virginia F. Skeese
Virginia F. Skeese age 80, of Brooklyn passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004 at W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson. Mrs. Skeese was born July 14, 1923, the daughter of John and Marie LaRose. She married Elmer J. Skeese Sept. 7, 1946 in Manitou Beach and he preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1998.
Virginia enjoyed spending time around her family and gardening. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hudson and Manitou Beach.
Virginia is survived by son, Rick Skeese of Adrian; daughters, Sheryl (Thomas) Chojnowski of Brooklyn and Shellann (Bryan) Golden of Northport, Ala.; brother, Raymond LaRose of Florida; sister, Angelus (Ron) Rosie of Holland; four grandchildren, Bradley, Loren, Taressa and Anne. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004 at Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian with the Rev. E. Keith Corbin officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
