Anne Marie (Gulliver) Reed
Anne Marie (Gulliver) Reed, age 35 of Clarklake passed away at W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson on January 16, 2007. Anne was born on July 2, 1971, in Jackson, the daughter of Ted and Betty (Steward) Gulliver. Anne is survived by her parents; sister, Katie (Rob) Clark of Clarklake; maternal grandmother, Marion Steward of Fla.; paternal grandparents, Chuck and Nina Gulliver of Eaton Rapids; aunts and uncles, Marie Dalton of Jackson, Gary (Debbie) Gulliver of Haslett, Christine (Keith) Pople of Tenn. and Charna (Bob) Welch of Eaton Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Henry Ford Steward.
Anne was a member of DisAbility Connections and Passages, both in Jackson, the Michigan Center Bible Church, and a former member of Dancing Wheels in Hampton, Va. Anne graduated from Columbia Central High School, Adrian College and attended Grand Valley State University and was a former teacher at Columbia Central High School. Anne liked being with friends and family, teaching, church activities, sailing, campfires, singing, attending and performing in musical theater. She enjoyed Clarklake walks and being with her cat. She will be remembered by her friends and family and those she would meet by her warm and bright smile. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
A healing farewell service for Anne was held on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at the Michigan Center Bible Church with Pastors John Tovey and Cindy Landrum officiating. Ila Mae (Ingraham) Russell
Ila Mae (Ingraham) Russell, age 95, formerly of Engadine, went to be with her Lord Jan. 16, 2007, in Whitehall, under the loving care of granddaughter Stephanie Mennenga, Heartland Care Center and Heartland Hospice. Ila was born July 20, 1911 in Manchester, daughter of Myron and Minnie Bonnie Bell (Billington) Ingraham.
She was a graduate of Brooklyn High School and Clary Business School. She worked many years at the Brooklyn State Bank and National Bank of Jackson. Ila was also a farm wife and a member of American Legion Auxiliary. She married Earl “Pat” Russell in 1944, who preceded her in death. Ila is survived by her sons Norman Martin and Bob Martin of Engadine; daughter, Diane Russell of Barbeau, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Harold “Red” (Beulah) Ingraham, Leora (Clarence) Mohr and Norma (Les) Jackson. Ila enjoyed farm life, her favorite pony Dusty, winters in Florida with her husband “Pat,” card games with friends and scrabble with son Norm. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her love of the outdoors and how she made friends easily by making them feel comfortable. Ila was a treasure to her family. She is greatly loved and missed by all.
In accordance with Ila’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held in the spring in Onsted. Richard T. White
Richard T. White, age 86, of Jerome, passed away on Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at Care Link of Jackson after a short illness.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1920 in Willard, Ohio to Ernest H. and Hazel (Perkins) White. After graduating from Willard High School, he earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan.
Richard and Catherine A. Rottier were married on June 13, 1942, the day she graduated from college. She preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 2002, after 60 years of marriage. Richard and Kay lived in several different states while raising their family, returning to the Jackson area for him to work at Spartan Electronics until his retirement in 1985. He then more actively pursued his interests of tennis, skiing, and communicating with friends all over the world on his HAMM radio. Richard and Kay previously attended the Bethany Assembly of God Church in Adrian; then became active members of the New Jerusalem Christian Fellowship in Somerset, closer to their home. Both church families were very important to them.
Surviving are one daughter, Kathleen (Lance) Wilson of Hanover, three sons, Gerry W. (Diane) White of San Diego, Calif., Richard T. (Mary) White, Jr. of Jackson, Thomas H. (Barbara) White of Fort Myers, Fla., ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one sister, JoAnne Felmer of Medina, Ohio.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 26, at the New Jerusalem Christian Fellowship Church in Somerset, followed by funeral services with Pastor Robert P. Norman officiating. Burial took place at Somerset Center Cemetery, Somerset Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the New Jerusalem Christian Fellowship Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison.
Cynthia Tremonti Bosio
Cynthia Tremonti Bosio, age 53 of Somerset, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian.
She was born on May 20, 1953 in Detroit, the daughter of Lawrence and Antoinette (Cucchi) Tremonti. Cynthia graduated from Redford Bishop Borgess High School and attended Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University for both of her Masters degrees. She married David J. Bosio on June 18, 1977 in Detroit and he survives. Cynthia was a professor and the former head of the mathematics department at Adrian College, where she taught for over two decades. The recipient of many teaching and education awards during her career in both high school and college, she was very active in St. Rita’s Catholic Church at Clarklake where she taught religion and was a lector and commentator. Cynthia was involved with numerous organizations in the mathematics field, was a Respite Care Volunteer, Relay for Life – volunteer and during her free time she enjoyed swimming, guitar and her family.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, David J.; son, Gregory of Royal Oak, and daughter, Anne Marie of Chicago; three sisters, Judy (Charles Cox) Tremonti of Northville, Stella (Michael) Krupansky of Canton and Lori (Karl Ziomek) Tremonti of Northville; three brothers, John (Aloha) of Northville, Larry (Monica) of Rockville, Md., and Tom (Karen) of Plymouth; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 19, 2006, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Clarklake Father Lehr with Barkenquest officiating. Cremation followed and a private intermenty of ashes will be made at St. Rita’s columbarium at a later date. Memorials may be made in Cynthia’s name to Adrian College or Hospice of Lenawee County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Elwyn “Sy” Deyo
Elwyn “Sy” Deyo, age 85 of Brooklyn, passed away at Chelsea Community Hospital on Jan. 16, 2007. Sy was born on March 29, 1921 in Lyons, Ohio, the son of Curtis and Nenah (Measures) Deyo.
He married Mildred (Ouellette) in 1947 in Adrian and she preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents of Brooklyn and brother: Vincent. Mr. Deyo served our country as an Ensign of the Merchant Marines during WW II. He was a member of the Irish Hills Eagles, American Legion Wilber-Bartlett Post #315, Masons and Moose Lodge, Brooklyn. Sy was employed by Consumers Energy as a lineman until his retirement in 1986. You might remember him bagging your groceries at the Country Market in Brooklyn where he was currently employed. Sy had played the piano since he was 8 years old and currently had a monthly gig playing at the Living Center in Brooklyn. He knew everyone and had many friends. He was the kindest, most generous man and the best dad.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Sy is survived by his children, Roy ( Elizabeth ) Deyo of Mission, Texas, Lynne Deyo of Wamplers Lake and William (Mary) Deyo of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Tom, Kellie, Michelle, Bill and Lisa; and seven great grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Sy’s life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Brooklyn.
Garland G. “Tex” Jordan
Garland G. “Tex” Jordan, age 78, of Napoleon Township passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at W. A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson.
Born Oct. 10, 1928 in Jones County, Texas to James Martin and Lena Lenore (Cupps) Jordan, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. On Oct. 12, 1960, Tex married the former Dee Godfrey.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Dee; six children, Barry McCook, Rex, James and Keith Phipps, all of Texas; Margaret Uncapher of Jackson and Shelley (Todd) Weber of Grass Lake; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Oletha Pittman, and one brother, Cleo Jordan, both of Texas; several nieces and nephews. Tex was a retiree of the Ford Motor Company, Saline plant, and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Donald Anderson officiating. As was his request, cremation has taken place. Dr. Donald W. “Doc” Morris
Dr. Donald W. “Doc” Morris, age 84 of Brooklyn, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor. He was born on March 29, 1922 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to David and Lily Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers. Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, the former Marilyn French; four children, Jaydene (Michael) Wagner of Grass Lake, Jerry Morris of Concord, N.C., James Morris of Clarklake and Janelle (Ed) Beach of Wolf Lake; four grandchildren, Stephanie Morris, Tucker Collins, Marissa Morris and William Wagner; several nieces and nephews.
Don received his Doctorate of Education in music, teaching students from kindergarten through college. He also performed as a professional musician.
Per his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 11646 Old Monroe Pike (near M-50 south and US-12) on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sandy Benes officiating. Robert Lee Parks
Robert Lee Parks, age 74, of Brooklyn passed away Jan. 21, 2007.
He was born March 16, 1932 in Hindman, Ky. the son of Dewey and Betty (Everidge) Parks. He married Zola Combs on Dec. 13, 1951 in Hazzard, Ky. and she survives. He retired from GM Hydra-matic in Ypsilanti in 1986. Robert was an avid Bass fisherman. He bowled on a league at the Brooklyn Lanes, liked Western movies and enjoyed gardening.
Besides his wife, he is also survived by his son; Emerson (Christine) Parks of Manitou Beach; granddaughter, Jennifer (Denis) Hartman; great-grandson, Kyle Hartman, all of Manitou Beach; two brothers, Oscar Parks of Taylor, Mich. and Frank Parks of Pinetop, Ky.; and four sisters, Sue Brotherton of Lothair, Ky, Beulah Everidge of Litcarr, Ky., Nezzie Cody of Indianapolis, Ind. and Edna Parks of Louisville, Ky. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Jeanette Jackson, Maxine Parks and Phyllis Parks.
A celebration of Robert’s life will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel in Brooklyn. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Great Lakes Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends on Wednesday from noon until the time of service.

Edna May Swart
Edna May Swart, age 90, of the Brooklyn Living Center, formerly of the Rives Junction area, passed away at W. A. Foote Memorial Hospital Jan. 20, 2007. She was married to Raymond E. Swart on Feb. 27, 1937 and he preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1995.
She is survived by three children, Phyllis (Leon) Pittman, Pamela (Danny) Moore, all of Napoleon and Raymond (Nancy) Swart Jr. of Florida; ten grandchildren, Cheryl (Herb) Whinna, Steven (Laura) Swart), Craig (Tracy) Pittman, Curt Pittman, Andrew Swart, Paula (Ryan) Coe, Allison Swart, Nathan (Jennifer) Moore, Michael and Jeffrey Swart and eight great-grandchildren. Edna and her husband farmed for many years, raising vegetables and selling them at their roadside stand. She loved horses and was an outdoor lady. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, January 24, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Cherry officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made directly to the Heart of the Lakes United Brethren Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Hospice of Jackson and Oaklawn. All arrangements were handled by Nichols-Arthur Funeral Home of Michigan Center.
