Florence K. Tucker
12/31/1999
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Christ Community Church in Kentwood for Grand Rapids resident Florence K. Tucker, who died Dec. 31. She was 90.
Mrs. Tucker was the widow of Rex Tucker.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy (Dennis) Spooner of Grandville and Susan (Charles) Cady of Suttons Bay; four grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to Christ Community Church, 2400 Forest Hill S.E., Kentwood 49546.

Allen Charles Stebner

Funeral services were held yesterday for Traverse City and Thompsonville resident Allen Charles Stebner, who died Jan. 2 at Munson Medical Center. He was 72.
Mr. Stebner was born in Detroit on June 30, 1927, the son of Rudolph and Flora (Laeder) Stebner.
A Navy veteran during World War II, Mr. Stebner was a machinist at Cone Drive Gear/Textron for 36 years. He retired in 1987 to Benzie County.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Patricia (Baehr); four children, Linda (Richard) Kenny of Alden, Carol (David) Mikowski of Cedar, William A. Stebner of Traverse City and James D. (Suzanne) Stebner of Traverse City; one sister, Norene Fay (William K.) Martin of Bellaire; and four grandsons.
Memorials may be directed to the Leukemia Foundation.

Mary Catherine Wilcox

Former Gills Pier resident Mary Catherine Wilcox of Peoria, Ill, died at May 5 in Peoria. She was 96.
She was born Aug. 14, 1907, in Gills Pier to Frank and Anna Jelinek Kolarik. On Jan. 26, 1925, in Peoria, she married William H. Wilcox who died in Suttons Bay in 1961.
Mrs. Wilcox was a store clerk and attended St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria.
Surviving are two grandchildren, one great-grandson; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Wilcox; one sister, Adeline Kolarik Forton; her three brothers Ludwig Kolarik and infant twins Peter and Paul Kolarik; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Plamondon
12/24/1999
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Lake Leelanau resident Dorothy Marie Plamondon, who died Dec. 24 at Cherry Hill Haven Foster Home in Traverse City. She was 80.

Mrs. Plamondon was born in Lake Leelanau on Feb. 11, 1919, the daughter of Lorin and Gertrude (Schaub) McNiel. In Lake Leelanau on Nov. 16, 1940, she married Robert Joseph Plamondon Sr., who preceded her in death on May 4, 1998.

A lifelong resident of Lake Leelanau, Mrs. Plamondon's life was devoted to her family. She enjoyed hobbies such as cross-stitching, reading, gardening and camping, and was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Parish.

Surviving are nine children, Marlin, Mona Rice, Ken, Erinie, Catharine Skeba, Gregory, Stephen, Rebecca Miller and Todd; two sisters, Margaret and Theresa; and three brothers, Gerald, Arthur and Leonard. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Jr.; two brothers, Jamie and Lawrence; a sister, Cecelia; and two grandchildren.

Friends may have called from 2-9 p.m. yesterday at Martinson Funeral Home; a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Grand Traverse Area Hospice, the Alzheimer Association or St. Mary's Church.

Robert E. Versluis

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Grand Rapids for seasonal Glen Arbor resident Robert E. Versluis who died May 16. He was 86.
His wife of 52 year, Bonnie, survives.
Mr. Versluis was a graduate of the University of Michigan and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After leaving the service, he was a salesman for A.L. Holcomb Co. and Lakeshore Machinery.
During the summer months he attended Glen Lake Community Reformed Church.
Also surviving are his two sons and two daughters, Cara (David) Cassard, Dr. Tamara Sorley, Robert Jr. (Audrey) Versluis, Bradley (Robin) Versluis, and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Jack and David.

Marilyn R. Young

Memorial services were held Saturday in Williamston for former Leelanau County resident Marilyn R. Young who died May 21. She was 66.
She was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Sandusky, Ohio. Her husband, John P. Young, survives.
Mr. and Mrs. Young lived in Leelanau County for 15 years during which time they owned and operated the On the Narrows Marina in Glen Arbor Township. Mrs. Young was a registered nurse and was also employed by the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District.
Also surviving are her children Michael J. (Susan) Young of Williamston, Mary J. (Young) Morrison of Traverse City, and Martha (Ron) Tuski of Oxford; a sister, Louise (Wayne) Reid of Missouri; and two grandchildren.

Mary Jane Lewis

A memorial service will be held Friday in West Virginia for seasonal Glen Arbor resident Mary Jane Lewis who died May 25. She was 80.
She was born April 5, 1923, in Weston, W.V., the daughter of Harvey and Bertha Primm Clem. Her husband of 61 years, C. Fred Lewis, survives.
Also surviving are her two sons, Donald J. Lewis of Glen Arbor, and R. Michael Lewis of Virginia; two sisters and a brother in West Virginia; a grand-daughter and a great grand-daughter.

Lois D. Mucherino

Former Suttons Bay resident Lois D. Mucherino of Okeechobee, Fla., died May 14 in Florida. She was 75.
She was born July 10, 1927, in Bridgeport, Conn. She was preceded in death by her husband Pat Mucherino Sr.
She was a professional barrel racer for 25 years. She loved horses, crafts and playing bingo.
Mrs. Mucherino is survived by her three sons, Pat (Bernadette) Mucherino Jr. of Bridgeport, Edward (Kim) Mucherino of Okeechobee, and Randy (Lori) Mucherino of Suttons Bay; a sister, Marie Careddy; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

David Taylor Marks

A family memorial service will be held in July in Ohio for long-time seasonal Glen Arbor resident David Taylor Marks who died May 6 in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was 84.
He was born Feb. 9, 1919, on a farm straddling the Ohio-Michigan boundary owned and operated by his parents Roy and Ruth (Taylor) Marks. In 1969, in Birmingham, he married Margaret ÒPeggyÓ Pettitt, who survives.
A 1941 graduate of the University of Michigan in aeronautical and mechanical engineering, his specialty was in design and development of internal combustion engines, both commercial and military. His career in the industry spanned more than 60 years.
Also surviving are two sons, David and Steven, both of California; step-children John Arthur Hatlem and Lisa Pettitt Hatlem, both of Colorado; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce, in 2002; and two brothers, Curtis and Howard.

Edward A. Stock
5/19/2003
Former Lime Lake resident Edward A. Stock died May 19 at a Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Florida. He was 87.
He was born in Detroit in 1916. His wife of 62 years, Clara Louise Stock of Largo, Fla., survives.
He was a veteran of World War II and retired as a lieutenant colonel from the US. Air Force Reserve after 34 years of service. He was a project engineer with a Detroit firm for 20 years. He moved from Leelanau County to Florida in 1978.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Toby L. Maes of Wisconsin and Sandra G. Barker of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Marie Louise Taylor

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon today, May 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau for Marie Louise Taylor of Omena who died May 17 at Munson Medical Center. She was 69.
She was born in Woburn, Mass., on April 15, 1934, the daughter of John and Agnes (Spencer) Mullarkey. She was married to Richard Clark Taylor who preceded her in death on May 30, 2002.
She resided in Peabody, Mass. for most of her life. She and her husband retired to Omena in 1985 and vacationed in Ocala, Fla., in the winter.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Peter) Royanne of Mannesquau, N.J., Linda (Clark Taylor) Kettenring of Concord, N.H., Cynthia (Glen) Gilchrist of Danvers, Mass., and Marie (Timothy) Nelson of Salem, Mass.; her sons, Donald (Patricia) Call of Beverly, Mass., John (Joanne) Call of Orange City, Fla., Neil Call of Rapid City, S.D., David (Origin) Call of Sorrento, Fla., and Philip C. (Merle) Taylor of Wayne, Pa.; her brothers John (June) Mullarkey and William (Barbara) Mullarkey, both of Ocala, Fla.; her sister, Anne Mullarkey, of Ocala, Fla; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Omena Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
