Clessie L. Altenbernt, 94 years, of Green Oak Township died Friday morning, June 9, 2006 at her residence.
She was born November 28, 1911 in Lum, Michigan; the daughter of Abel and Pearl (Bush) Haines.
Clessie is survived by her children; Arlene Harding of Pinckney, Stan Reese of Manistee, Cless Greenfield of Brighton, Curren Palmer of Mason, Jerry Altenbernt of Pinckney and Steve Altenbernt of Dexter; 17 grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters; Marjorie Davis, Howard Haines, Jack Haines and Barbara Burns. Clessie was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; Jason Haines, Floyd Haines, Harlo Haines, Jeanette Singer, Renie Schenden, Leola Sheeks, L.D. Haines and Mildred Parks.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, June 12, 2006 at Pinckney Congregational Church with Pastor Lynn Martin officiating, burial will follow in Pinckney Cemetery. The family will greet friends 2-8 PM Sunday, June 11 at Shelters Funeral Home.
Dr. Scovell Meyers Hopkins M.D.

Dr. Scovell Meyers Hopkins, M.D., was born July 6, 1921, died on June 8, 2006 in Howell, Michigan. He was the son of Scovell B. and Norma M. (Meyers) Hopkins of Ashland Kentucky. Dr. Hopkins graduated from Ashland High School in 1939. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1945. An Army Medical Corps veteran of WWII, he completed residency in thoracic surgery in 1948. Dr. Hopkins was board certified in General and Thoracic Surgery. In 1955 he and his family moved to Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan where he practiced thoracic surgery for 21 years. In 1976 he joined the VA in Boise, ID as a general and thoracic surgeon. From 1979 through 1988 Dr. Hopkins served as Chief of Staff at VA Hospitals in Topeka, KS, Cincinnati, OH and Erie, PA. While in Cincinnati he was Assistant Dean and Professor of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Dr. Hopkins and his wife Rita moved to Independence Village of Brighton Valley in July 2004. During his years of medical practice in the Detroit area, Dr. Hopkins was Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at St. John Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital. Dr. Hopkins is survived by his wife Rita Marie (McCartney) Hopkins; four children, Maureen Emerson, Suzanne Hopkins, Dr. Steven Hopkins and Dennis Hopkins; six grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 beginning at 11 AM at Shelters Funeral Home of Pinckney, Michigan followed by a funeral service at 1 PM. The family requests that any donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Hospice of Michigan, 2090 S Main St. Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103.

Gwendolyn L. Watkins, 79 years, of Milford, Michigan and a former long-time Gregory, Michigan resident died Thursday morning, March 19, 2009 at West Hickory Haven Nursing Home.
She was born August 31, 1929 in Pinckney, Michigan; the daughter of Abner and Ethel (Swarthout) Watkins.
Funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Shelters Funeral Home in Pinckney, Michigan with burial in Pinckney Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM until the time of service.
Dolores Ramm

Dolores Ramm, 78 years, of Pinckney, Michigan died Wednesday evening, March 18, 2009 at the Howell Care Center in Howell, Michigan.
She was born August 11, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan; the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Onofrey) Klawe. Dolores married Richard Ramm on May 30, 1950 in Livonia, Michigan and he preceded in death July 30, 2004.
She is survived by her son, Martin Ramm; three daughters, Denise Shults, Susan Masell and Lisa Vroman; four grandchildren, one great grandchild; two sisters, Ruth Britcher and Betty Hoyt.
Dolores was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Pinckney, Michigan.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, March 23 at Shelters Funeral Home in Pinckney, Michigan, cremation will follow service. Family will receive friends 2-8 PM Sunday with a Rosary Prayer at 7:30 PM.
Lawrence Ford

Lawrence Ford, 94 years, of Hamburg, Michigan died Tuesday afternoon, March 17, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on December 29, 1914 in Flint, Michigan; the son of Thomas and Alice (Broadbent) Ford. Lawrence married Doreen Blades and she survives, he is also survived by a daughter, Francis Roberts.
Lawrence was a Amry Veteran of WWII.
Cremation rites have been accorded, burial of remains will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Arrangements by Shelters Funeral Home, Pinckney
