Albert C. Bak, 22 years, of Stockbridge, Michigan died Sunday morning, June 7, 2009.

Albert was born October 15, 1986 in Woodside, New York; the son of Scott and Annie (Hahn) Bak; Albert married Misty Martin on June 21, 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Misty and his children, Nichota and EmmyAnna; his mother and father, Sung Dong and Annie Bak.

Funeral service will be held 1PM Saturday, June 13 at Immanuel Baptist Church 3415 W M-36 Pinckney, Michigan, burial will follow in the Pinckney Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8PM Friday at the funeral Home and noon till time of service at the church.

Elizabeth M. Drury
June 2, 2009

Elizabeth (Bettie) Drury, Ann Arbor Michigan, age 83, died June 2nd, 2009.

Bettie was born in Gary, Indiana the daughter of James and Clara Smith.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Don Drury and daughter, Carol Scherdt. Bettie is survived by her daughter, Jane (Dan) Steele, son-in-law, Arthur (Bud) Scherdt, granddaughters, Amy (Clint) Feldkamp and Rebecca (Tim) Seegert, grandson, Andy Steele and three great grandchildren, Maggie, Samantha and Evan.

Bettie was a graduate of Ann Arbor High, Class of 1943.

She sat in the window as the cashier at Schlenker Hardware from 1965 until her retirement.

Bettie loved chocolate, playing cards, her friends and most of all her family.

She will be deeply missed. The family will gather for a private memorial service this Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Congregational United Church of Christ, 125 E. Unadilla, Pinckney, MI 48169 or a charity of your choice.

Russell G. Ward Jr.

Russell G. Ward Jr., 53 years, of Pinckney, Michigan died Wednesday morning, July 29, 2009.

Russell was born October 15, 1955 in Garden City, Michigan; the son of Russell and Ethel (Arnold) Ward.

Surviviors include his daughter, Jennifer; his mother, Ethel and sister, Marilyn Schmidt.

Funeral service will be held 10 AM Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Shelters Funeral Home in Pinckney, Michigan with Rev. Donald Weatherup officiating, cremation will follow service.

Family will receive friends from 4-8 Pm Friday, July 31 at the funeral home.

Joyce M. Brush
July 28, 2009
Joyce M. (King/Maschke) Brush, 60 years, beloved wife, mother and grandmother went peacefully to heaven on July 28th in her home with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on August 26, 1948 in Stockbridge; the daughter of Emmett and Crystal King. Joyce was raised in Pinckney and spent her final days in Gregory with her loving husband. She enjoyed the serenity of nature and the joys of a simple life.

Joyce worked various jobs in accounting throughout her life, but her true passion was family. Her devotion, love and humor blessed all those around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family as she inspired others to lead kind and honest lives. Her humble nature was such that she did not recognize how special she truly was.

She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Maschke (Shelise), and parents Emmett and Crystal King. Joyce is survived by her husband, Don Brush, daughter, Tammie Tobel (Scott) and daughter, Bonnie Dockham (Geoff). Joyce was known as Grammy and deeply loved by her 7 grandchildren, Lacey, Lexey, Logan, Christopher, Tyler, Sophie and Ayla. Other survivors include siblings Gordon and Amy King, Karen (King) and Earl Skeens, and Elizabeth Hohl (King) and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive visitors on Thursday from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm at Shelters Funeral Home, 250 N. Mill Street, Pinckney, MI. Funeral will be held at 11am Friday, July 31 at Community Congregational United Church of Christ 125 East Unadilla, Pinckney, MI. Burial will follow in the Hamburg Cemetery .

Patricia A. Dersey
July 18, 2009
Patricia A. Dersey, 71 years, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend of Pinckney, Michigan went peacefully to be with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on July 18 in her home with her family at her side.

Patricia was born February 19, 1938 in Milan, Michigan, the daughter of Alfred and Blanche (Smith) Meyer. Patricia married Robert L. Dersey in Milan, Michigan on February 20, 1960 at the Marble Memorial Methodist Church of Milan. Robert preceded her in death on November 1, 2004.

Soon after Bob & Pat were married, Patricia was instructed in the Universal Catholic Faith and they were remarried at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights, Mi with Monsignor Weir officiating. Bob & Pat baptized their two daughters Tara & Kerry at St. Albert the Great and enrolled them in their parochial school system to assure them of their blessings and teachings of The Word and Sacraments through their childhood schooling. Patricia was baptized as a Lutheran at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti, Mi by Rev. Hugo Fenk on 2-19-1939. After many years away from the church, Patricia returned to her faith of the Triune God in June 2004 where she attended and became a member of Dexter United Methodist Church. She was actively and faithfully serving her Lord in various roles at DUMC including attending WOW (women of the word) Bible Study and also started a small group for widowed women in the church to share in the Lords fellowship knowing God promises never to forsake the widowed or fatherless. She faithfully volunteered with various activities at the church including VBS, Women’s Retreats, DUMC’s annual rummage sales and always shared her love of the Lord by her actions matching her strong belief of Scripture. She was a wife and mother of noble character who consistently demonstrated her Christ centered life. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters and granddaughter and especially trips up north to visit Kerry in the Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain Resort area in Bellaire, Mi. She attended several Lutheran Symposiums with Kerry at Hope Lutheran Church in Bellaire wanting to earnestly share in the instruction of Scripture.

Patricia is survived by two daughters, Tara Preston (Timothy) of Pinckney, Mi and Kerry Gieseck (Roger) of Mancelona, Mi.; granddaughter Ashley Preston; sister Sally Zaruba (Frank) of Brookville, FL; mother-in-law Esther McKinney of Temperance, Mi; brother-in-law Kenneth Dersey (Janet) of Plymouth, MI and many other friends & family members including her loving church family from Dexter United Methodist Church.

Patricia was employed for the University of Michigan for 40 years starting with the Department of Psychiatry working for Dr. George T. Bird in 1957. She later transferred to the U-M Dearborn campus and worked for the School of Business Administration until 1978 after which she transferred to the Ann Arbor campus and worked in the Department of Human Resources until her retirement in 1997.

The family would like to thank Arbor Hospice for their absolutely wonderful care for mom and her family. The family would also like to thank Dr. Paul Gauger and Dr. Mark Zalupski for their unwavering commitment to healing mom. May God bless them all.

Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Dexter United Methodist Church 7643 Huron River Dr. Dexter, Michigan 48130 with Pastor Steve Bringardner officiating, burial will follow in the Pinckney Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8PM Tuesday, July 21 at Shelters Funeral Home 250 N Mill St. Pinckney, Michigan 48169. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to University of Michigan Hospital Pancreatic Cancer Research and the Juvenile Diabeters Research Foundation.
