Francis ‘Frank’ DeLaTorre
1931-2009
Beloved Husband, Father, and Friend
Died July 17 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Born in January 21st, 1931, he was raised in Dexter Michigan. He was Dexter High School class president in 1949, and captain of the football team. Frank was a dedicated husband and father, a loyal friend, a Master Gardener and a loyal Michigan Football fan. He spent time in Germany during the Korean war, and began a life long love of German food and culture. He was a devoted client of the Old German Restaurant in Ann Arbor and made home made spaetzel for his family on special occasions. He also loved making wonderful Mexican food for his family. He learned his trade in the Army and proudly worked as a radiology technician for University of Michigan Hospitals for most of his career. He also taught radiology procedures at Washtenaw Community College. He was one of the first technicians in Michigan to learn MRI procedures and worked for several years in Flint, MI. He spent hours filming the Pinckney Pirates games in the 1970s and 80s so the team could review strategies.
He is preceded in death by his father, Francisco, mother, Mercedes, and brother, Ed. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara, his sister Delores DeLaTorre, sons Tim, Chuck(and Kathy), Dan(and Donna) and Gary(and Bonnie Clark), daughters Angi(Mahnke), Monica(and Chris Keenan), and Karen(and Rick LaMirand); Sister-in-Law Barbara, nieces Diane and Mary Kay, and nephews Tom and Michael. He has 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday July 24th at St. Joseph Chapel in the village of Dexter at 11am, with visitation at 10am. Funeral arrangements by Shelters Funeral Home in Pinckney. In lieu of flowers, please honor the following; St. Joseph Parish Building Fund, 3430 Dover St., Dexter, MI 48130, and to the Volunteer Office/Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Ave NE Grand Rapids, MI 49505-3313 (attn. Unit Activities).

Leo K. Luckhardt, 89 years, of Pinckney, Michigan died Tuesday afternoon, July 7, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
He was born May 19, 1920 in Saline, Michigan; the son of Ernest and Lula (Klein) Luckhardt. Leo married Lorena Kohler on November 1, 1941 in Saline, Michigan and she survives.
Leo is also survived by two daughters, Margaret Comfort of Vernon, Florida and Loraine Harwick of Pinckney; one son, Douglas of Pinckney; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; his sister, Lois Heiber of Canada.
Leo was the owner of Lucko Paint and Assembly of Tecumseh, Michigan and also part-owner of Melco Corp. of Ypsilanti, Michigan; he was also an Army Veteran of WWII; Founding member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Pinckney, Michigan.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church 5758 W M-36 Pinckney Michigan 48169 with Rev. Merelyn Snider officiating, burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8PM Friday, July 10 at Shelters Funeral Home 250 N Mill Pinckney, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are asked to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Emmett M. Widmayer

Beloved Husband, Brother, Father and Grandfather died July 3, 2009, Peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 25, 1922 in Detroit. Emmett was son of Herman and Fanny Widmayer. The family moved to Pinckney, MI in 1934. Graduated from Pinckney H.S. in 1940. A Veteran of World War II, Serving with the 195th second Army Division (Hell on Wheels), was wounded and received the Purple Heart & European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. Emmett is survived by his wife Virginia Rentschler Widmayer and children; Rod, Vickie (Mike), Randy (Cherie), Jim (Jody), Bob (Kathy), Bill (Jean) Widmayer, Cheryl (Bob) Doletzky & Renea’ (Gary) Pidd. Brothers Donn (Daisy), Willard (Esther) Widmayer; 17 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren. Jane Widmayer Mother of his children and former wife also.
Emmett was Preceded in death by two sisters Shirley (Tom) Line and Margaret (Pat) Jeffries, also his Mother and Father.
Emmett retired from Chrysler Proving Grounds after 32 years. He enjoyed his family and spent winters in Florida with a wonderful group of friends. Farming, his Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling, baseball, golfing, bowling, piloting his plane, and repairing just about anything he could, were some of Emmett’s favorite past times.
Emmett was a 60-year member of the Free and Accepted Masons-Lodge 76, Pinckney; MI. Emmett was also a 50-year member of the American Legion Dexter Post.
The family would like to give a special Thank you to Synergy Health Care, especially to Katie & Jenny. Also the Arbor Hospice & CRC of Chelsea that helped care for Emmett.
Visitation will be July 8, 2009 at Shelters Funeral Home in Pinckney, MI from 3:30 to 8:00. Masonic Rites will be at 7:00 PM. The Memorial will be at the United Church of Christ on July 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Luncheon to follow at Masonic Hall, Pinckney, MI

James R. Landau

James R. Landau, 76 years, of Pinckney, Michigan died Friday afternoon, September 4, 2009 at Caretel Inns of Brighton, Michigan.
He was born July 27, 1933 in Knightsville, Indiana; the son of Raymond M. and Mabel L.(Pieske) Landau; James married Sue Ann Davis on May 31, 1957 in Redford, Michigan and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Julie (Michael) Muscat of Howell and Jo (Dwayne) Sims of Northville; one son, James R. (Linda) Landau Jr.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
James was an Engineer for Ford Motor Company, Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pinckney, Michigan.
A funeral mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday, September 9 at St. Mary Catholic Church 10601 Dexter-Pinckney Rd Pinckney, Michigan. A vigil service will be held 7 PM Tuesday at Shelters Funeral Home 250 N Mill St. Pinckney, Michigan where family will receive friends 2-9 PM. In lieu of flowers donations are asked to the Alzheimers Association.
Eula D. Clark

Eula D. Clark, 95 years, of Stockbridge, Michigan and a former long-time Pinckney resident died Sunday afternoon, August 9, 2009 at the Chelsea Retirement Community in Chelsea, Michigan.
Eula was born March 3, 1914 in West Bay, Florida; the daughter of Oscar and Maude (Sowell) Buchanan. She married Norman Clark on March 5, 1935 in West Bay, Florida and he preceded in death November 22, 1985.
She is survived by four daughters, Joan Ford, Janette Breaugh, Dorothy Reason and Christine Marshall; two sons, Michael Clark and Larry Clark; twenty four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children, Norma, Norman Jr. and Jean.
Funeral service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Shelters Funeral Home 250 N Mill St. Pinckney Michigan with Rev. Bud Armstrong officiating, burial will follow in the Pinckney Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2-8 PM Tuesday, August 11 at the funeral home.
