Cipriano Pellegrini Jr.
NORWAY -- Cipriano "Cippy" Pellegrini, Jr., age 71 of Norway died Sunday, January 06, 2002 at his home.
He was born on July 12, 1930 in Norway, MI. The son of the late Cipriano "Mike" and Mary (Calcatera) Pellegrini, Sr.
Cippy graduated from Vulcan High School class of 1948 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Janice Morosini on .luly 14, 1956 in St. Mary's Church in Norway, MI.
Cippy went on to work for Charlie LaFaive delivering oil then as an agent for Standard Oil in Powers from 1961 to 1965. Went to work for MichCon Gas Company in 1965 until he retired in January 1993.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Norway, Floriano-Stecker American Legion Post #340 in Hemmansville, Norway-Vulcan Civic Club. Cippy enjoyed working with his brother Hank Pellegrini on the farm, gardening, fishing, hunting and going to camp with his family.
He is survived by his wife Janice; sons Michael (Lisa) Pellegrini of Gwinn, Anthony (Betty) Pellegrini of Maryville, TN; daughter Marie (Bill) Osborne of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren Michael and Amanda Osborne, Brandon and Kristen Pellegrini; brothers Henry (Eunice) Pellegrini of Norway, Louie Pellegrini of Norway and Donald (Pat) Pellegrini of Escanaba; sister-in-law Mary Lou (Frank) Oucalt of Scottsdale, AR; brother-in-law Carl Morosini of Redway, CA; mother-in-law Frances Bonetti of Norway; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. (C.S.T.) at the Miner Funeral Home in Norway. Parish Prayers will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. (C.S.T.) Prayers will be on Wednesday, January 9 at 9:30 a.m. (C.S.T.) at Miner Funeral Home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. (C.S.T.) at St. Mary's Church with Fr. Mark McQuesten officiating. Intemment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
Donald Paul Fitzpatrick
BIG BAY -- Donald Paul Fitzpatrick, 67, of County Road KA, Big Bay, entered eternal life Saturday, January 5, 2002 at his home following a lengthy illness. Donald was born December 24, 1934 in Toledo, Michigan, the son of Harold J.C. Albertson and Jeanette (LaFave) Albertson. He served in the U.S. Army from February 17, 1960 until February 17, 1966. He then was employed by Greyhound Bus Lines until his retirement in June of 2000. He was a member of AA since 1980 and the Eagles of Harrison, MI.
Survivors include his step-mother, June Zelinski, Bullhead City, AZ, 2 sons; Ronald (Kelly) Albertson and David Albertson, both of Eastpointe, MI, 3 daughters; Amy (Kenneth) Velickoff, Roseville, MI, Diane Albertson, Eastpointe, MI and Janet Albertson, Eastpointe, MI, 3 brothers; Gerald (Joann) Albertson, Ishpeming, MI, Harold (Darlene) Albertson, Bullhead City, AZ and Bill Albertson, Bullhead City, AZ, 5 sisters; Carol Hiller, Harrison, MI, June (Bob) Moore, Bullhead City, AZ, Betty Jean Campbell, Utica, MI, Lindey (Norman) Gwisdalla, Harrison, MI and Maxine Ombrello, Ishpeming, MI, ex-wife Karen Albertson and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Maxwell Sutherland and a daughter, Sandra Lynn Albertson.
Visitation will be from 4-9 Tuesday and 2-9 Wednesday. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Rupp Funeral Home, Inc., Monroe, MI 48161, (734) 241-9300. Rev. William Fisher of St. Joseph Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe, MI.
Raymond Joseph Shamberger
MUNISING -- Raymond Joseph Shamberger, age 90, of 427 S. Taylor Street, Spring Valley, Wisconsin to the late Louis and Clara (Seymour) Shamberger. He was raised in Munising and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School. On November 22, 1933, he married Kathryn Ann Druckenmiller of Trenary. Raymond's employment took he and his family all around the country. He had worked locally at the Munising Paper Company and from 1941 until 1946, he worked at the Norge Corporation in Muskegon. In 1950 he moved to Alma and worked for the Alma Piston Company and in 1959, he transferred with a subsidiary to Los Angeles, CA. In 1965, they returned to the Midwest and moved to Princteton, Illinois in 1998. Raymond was raised a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and he was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Spring Valley. He also was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.
Raymond is survived by his wife of over sixty-eight years, Kathryn Shamberger of Spring Valley, IL; their son - Raymond (Barbara) J. Shamberger, Jr. of Kirtland, Wisconsin, where he worked for Harley Davidson in Milwaukee before moving to Campbellsport.
Kingo is survived by his wife, Gerri; daughter, Terri Lynn; and son, Jerry; two grandchildren, Katie and Josh; two sisters, Marie Allan of Oswego, IL and Maxine (George) Bierman of Royal Oak, MI; two brothers, Painter J. Harris of Marquette and Francis (Rod) Harris of Ishpeming; and many nieces and nephews.
Kingo was preceded in death by one brother, Glenmore Harris; four sisters, Louise Elo, Rae Vadnais, Marjorie VanBrocklin and Jerol Lecklin; and one nephew, Walter (Buddy) Elo.
Services will be held in Campbellsport, WI on Thursday, January 9, 2002. Viewing will be from 4pm until 8pm.
Fern Marie Paulsen
MUNISING -- Fern Marie Paulsen, age 75, of 908 W. Superior Street, Munising, died following a one year illness on Monday, January 7, 2002 at 8:20pm at the Munising Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 19, 1926 in Naubinway, Michigan. Fern will be escorted by her six grandsons.
John Joseph "Jack" Chetto
NEGAUNEE -- John Joseph "Jack" Chetto, 55, 400 Ann St. Negaunee died at 12:05 AM on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at Marquette General Hospital following a 2 month illness.
Jack was born March 3, 1946 in Ishpeming to John F. & Esther I. (Peterson) Chetto, was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1964, and was a lifelong Negaunee resident. He served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman during the Vietnam War. He worked as a boilerman, welder, and tool crib attendant for CCI for 30 years, retiring from the Empire Mine in 1996.
Mr. Chetto was a former member of the V.A. Romo Post #3165 V.F.W., Negaunee. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, & fisherman. His hobby was working on vehicles, especially old tractors & trucks. He also loved to dance.
Surviving are his fiancee and caregiver, Dorothy Thorbahn, of Escanaba, a son, Tracy (Lisa) Jalonen, Palmer, a daughter, Sheila Jalonen, Gwinn, a granddaughter, Marissa Jalonen, Palmer, 2 sisters; Elizabeth (William) Hemmila, Negaunee, Alice Hendrickson, Scotia, NY, a special aunt, Elna Hill, of Marquette, nieces & nephews; Bill Hemmila, Jr., his wife Paula & children Joshua & Jodi, Betsy Cappoferri, her husband John & children Brittany & Chelsea, Julia A. Hemmila & husband Steve Prankerd, Maria Hendrickson, her husband Steve Kirk & children Alicia & Marissa, Beth Schumacher, her husband Dan & children Kenny, Nicholas & Briana. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday at the Koskey Funeral Home. Rev. Laurel Halverson-Bernard, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church of Negaunee will officate. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. Friends may call at the Koskey Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until the time of services at 5:00 PM on Wednesday.
Memorials may be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund in Jack's memory.
Lawrence S. "Speed" Pietro
ISHPEMING -- Lawrence S. "Speed" Pietro, age 85, formerly of 2460 Co. Rd. 476 Ishpeming, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2002 at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.
Lawrence was born January 15, 1916 in Ishpeming to the late John and Anna (Thomas) Pietro. He was a lifelong area resident. He worked for the C.C.I. Co. for 40+ years, starting in the Negaunee Mine and moving to the Lloyd Mine, Mather A Mine and retired from the Mather B Mine in 1977. Lawrence enjoyed hunting and fishing along with the time he spent at his camp and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Agnes of Ishpeming; 2 sons- Steven (Karen) Pietro of Negaunee and David (Vicki) Pietro of Ishpeming; a brother Michael Pietro of National Mine; 5 granddaughters- Pamela Hendrix, of Ishpeming, Kristine (Bill) Arseneau of Norway, Stephanie (Glen) Kecker of Ishpeming, Ashley and Lacey Pietro of Ishpeming; 7 great grandchildren- Karl, Dylan and Johanna Hendrix, Alex and Noah Arseneau, Lyric and Dallas Kecker; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters- Mary Treloar and Ann Mitchell and 4 brothers- John, Henry, Eddie and Paul Pietro.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 10, 2002 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. Lawrence Gauthier to officiate. Burial will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home fomr 4:00 PM until the time of services on Thursday.
Martha Behm
BRENHAM, TEXAS -- Martha Behm, 92, of Brenham, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Newberry with Pastor Charles Burhop officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.

Rodney V. Seppala
LAKE WORTH, FLA. - Rodney V. Seppala, age 69, of Lake Worth, Woods Hospice. Funeral services will be held Monday January 14, 2002 at 11:00 am at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry with Pastor Robert Norris of the First Baptist Church officiating. Helen (Cornish) Windsand
ISHPEMING -- Helen (Cornish) Windsand, age 87 of 518 N. Second St. Ishpeming, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at her home under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Helen was born June 1, 1914 in Ishpeming to the late William & Martha Cornish. Helen attended schools in Ishpeming & Iron River, graduating in 1931. She attended Badger Business College in Green Bay. She worked there for 3 years and then returned to Iron River, where she worked for Kroms, Angeli's, and JC Penney.
Helen married George Windsand on June 1, 1940 in Ishpeming, and in 1944 they opened their own business "Windsand Decorators". After 50 years in business Helen decided to retire and do a few more things she wanted to do.
Helen was a member of Pythian Sisters. She joined Twin Cities #104 in 1944 and has been very active in her own Temple having served in many capacities. She had served as District Deputy for 11 years, Grand Press Correspondent for 13 years, Grand Trustee for 3 years and also as Sunshine person for Grand Temple. Helen was Michigan Pythian Sister of the year in 1993-1994.
Helen & George raised four children, when the children were young they went on many trips as Helen felt that travel was very educational and the children needed to experience seeing how & where others live. By the time the children were in high school, they had traveled to 35 states.
Helen is survived by 4 children: Robert Windsand, Douglas Windsand, Lois (William) Bath all of Ishpeming and David Windsand of Milwaukee, 5 grandchildren: Shannon, (Larry) Clemo of Marquette, Michael Bath of Portland OR, Mark Bath of Seattle WA, Kevin Bath of Ithaca, NY and Wendy Bath of Ishpeming. Helen was preceded in death by her husband George 1999.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2002 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Dirks officiating. Burial will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
William G. Miller
MARQUETTE -- William G. Miller, age 77, of 425 Lost Creek Dr., died Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at his home.
He was born August 16, 1924 in Marquette to William G. and Clara (Smith) Miller and moved back to Marquette from AuTrain several years ago. Prior to retiring, he worked as a mechanical engineer for International Harvester. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Army; was a member of Moose Lodge #1386, the Elks Lodge, and the American Legion- Roderick Prato Post, all in Munising, and the Marquette Lodge 101 Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Bodies and Ahmed Temple Shrine in Marquette.
William is survived by his brother, Bruce (Mary) Miller of Marquette and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte in 1999.
Private family services will be held at Park Cemetery at a later date. The Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
