June Mamie Wilson
GWINN -- June Mamie (Usher) Wilson, 82, of 223 W. Jasper Street, Gwinn, passed into the next life on Sunday, January 13, 2002, at the UP Home Health and Hospice's Inpatient Unit located at Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming, following a brief illness with cancer. June is remembered by her family and friends for her joy in traveling, lifelong learning, gardening, and love of the outdoors, that she has passed on to four children and three grandchildren. June is survived by her daughters, Joanne MacDonald of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; Susan (Michael Miljour) Wilson of Gwinn; and Terry (Peter Braddock) Wilson of Columbus, Washington, and her husband, Thomas in Royal Oak. A very special thank you goes to Bell Memorial's Acute Care Staff , Dr. Michael Grossman, and the nurses, social worker, and chaplain of the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice staff. No services are scheduled. Memorials may be directed to local hospice associations of the donor's choice. The Perala Funeral Home is serving the family.

Jesse N. McNamara
NEWBERRY -- Jesse N. McNamara, 79, of Newberry, died Sunday afternoon, January 13, 2002 at Munising Memorial Hospital in Munising.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at 11:00am at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry with Pastor David Buhman officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 15 from 4-7pm. Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.

Lea E. Kemppainen
SOUTH RANGE -- Lea E. Kemppainen, 76, a resident of First Street, South Range died at her home on Sunday, January 13, 2002. She was born in Kemmi Finland on January 5, 1926 a daughter of the late Eli and Ida Riikkonen. She came to the United States at the age of 21. She attended school in Finland. On June 28, 1947 she married Felix J. Kemppainen, he preceded her in death in 1987.
She is survived by one son, Jack Kemppainen of South Range; one daughter, June (Richard) Thibeault of Ishpeming; 8 grandchildren, Duane (Jeana) Kemppainen, Karry (Scott) Quello, John Kemppainen, Jackie Kemppainen, Darren Almli, Travis Almli, Troy Almli, Dianna (Steven) Windahl; 9 great grandchildren, Tyler Ashley and Taylor Kemppainen, Devin and Saige Quello, Danielle and Krista Almli, and Jordan and Tyler Windahl; two sisters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Finland.
As requested by Lea, there will be no visitation or services. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range, Michigan Bell and AT&T for many years before retiring in 1989.
Bruce was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing softball and coaching little league. He also had many hobbies such as hunting, fishing, gardening, baking bread and watching sports. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving him is his wife of 44 years, Janice Garceau of Gwinn; children, Jerry Garceau of Waupun, WI, Perri (Hank) Niemi of Marquette, Kevin (Christy) Garceau of Hailey ID, Holly Garceau of Iron River and Janeen St. Aubin of Gwinn; grandchildren, Tonya, Tyler, Levi & Andre Garceau, Jess & Jacob Niemi, Chasidy Decker, Tristan & Monica Garceau, Daniel & Stephanie Ridolphi and Kylah St. Aubin; a brother, Neil (Fay) Garceau of Traverse City; sisters, Jeanette Nelson of Lakewood, Michigan for 25 years. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, American Legion and VFW and was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
Claude is survived by a daughter Claudia (Paul) Beauchamp of Marquette, a son Keith (Suzanne) Sackett of Baraga, two brothers, Earl Sackett of Green Bay, Wl and William Sackett of Appleton, Wl, eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille on May 6, 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, January 17, 2002 in the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Weber and Rev. Edwin Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Northland Chapel Gardens. Visitation will begin at the church at 1:00 PM on Thursday. The Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harriet L. Brown
LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI -- Harriet L. (Vallette) Brown, 74, of Lake Saint Louis, Indianapolis, Thompson and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Navy CB's from 1943-1945. Prior to retiring he worked in construction as a crane operating engineer, and was involved in the construction of the Mackinac Bridge, on the UP side. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Marquette Lodge 101 Free & Accepted Masons, Royal Arch Masons, Scottish Rite Bodies, Ahmed Temple Shrine, Shrine Patrol and Director's Staff, American Legion, and the Forty et Eight. He particularly enjoyed his years of marching in the Shrine parades and his other activities with the Masons.
John is survived by a daughter Pamela Thompson of Negaunee Twp., a sister Peggy Pantalone of Lansing, five grandchildren; Spencer (Nancy) Stang, PhD, Milwaukee, Wl, Jeremy Stang, LDO, Raleigh, Thompson and Misty (Bill) Ellerbruch, both of Negaunee, and four great grandchildren, Ashly, Zachary, Kelly and Jessica. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence in 1991.
Following John's request, friends and family are invited to share memories at his camp on the Dead River Basin at 151 N. Basin Dr., Negaunee Twp., from 1:00 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 19, 2002. Shirley A. Randall
JANESVILLE, WI -- Shirley A. Randall, age 74, of Janesville, died Monday, January 7, 2002 at home. She was born June 25, 1927 in Republic, MI, the daughter of Clayton and Amelia (Hendrickson) Monett. Shirley was employed by the Hart-Braceort Co. of Elk Grove, IL.
She is survived by her 2 sons Charles C. Randall of Chicago, IL and Brian K. Randall of Janesville; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Harold James Arsenault
ALPENA, MI - Harold James Arsenault, age 69, of 257 Oliver Street, Alpena, MI, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 15, 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia France; two daughters, Debbie (Mrs. Steve) Branstrom and Linda Kolky; two grandchildren, Shawn Howe and Brandy Kolky; his mother, Rose; and three sisters, Marlene (Mrs. Paul) Ciozek, Natalie Rogers and Elaine (Mrs. Harvey) Moore.
Mr. Arsenault has been taken from the Bannan Funeral Home for cremation. A memorial mass will be held Friday at 12 noon at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Rev. James Kendziorski officiating.
Louise A. Landerman
MARQUETTE -- Louise A. Landerman, age 91, passed away at Marquette County Medical Care Facility on January 15, 2002 where she was a resident for three and a half years. She was born on September 27, 1910 to Frank and Rose (Hoffman) Royer in Gladstone, MI. She was the second oldest of twelve children. She married Edwin Landerman on June 24, 1933 at St. Ann's Church in Menominee, MI. She resided in Marinette until she moved to Marquette to live with her daughter Kay and her husband Bob Duquaine. While in Marinette she worked for the St. Joseph's Parish priests, sang in the choir, was an avid card player, loved to cook and bake, visit people in nursing homes, and babysit her great grandchildren.
She is survived by: her daughter Kay (Bob) Duquaine of Marquette, her only surviving sister Dorothy Trodeau of Gladstone, her sister in law Edna Valukas, her eight grandchildren: Cindy (Ron) Reynolds, Karen Duquaine, Nancy Duquaine, Mark Duquaine, Laurie Robinson, Lisa (June) Milanes, Kim (Mike) McMahon, Lynn (Mike) Collins, her thirteen great grandchildren: Ronnie Reynolds, Amber (Kevin) Carriere, Ryan Stark, Erick Stark, Kaylee, Brenden, and Eli Duquaine, Phillip Robinson, Vinny and Valerie Milanes, Aaron McMahon, Ashley Behnke, Mike Collins, a great-great grandchild Alexis Carriere, two step great grandchildren John and Amy McMahon, two dear friends Clara Gibson and Fran Anderson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin of 32 years in 1965, her daughter Valerie Miller in 1995, her parents and ten brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the Thielen Funeral Home on Saturday, January 19th after 4pm until time of service at 7pm. Deacon Jerome Thetreau will be officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
Reino W. Maki
MARQUETTE -- Reino W. Maki, 81, a former Deerton and Diorite resident died at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, where he had resided since Jan. 12, 1999.
Reino was born Jan. 27, 1920 in Marquette to John & Aini (Pihlainen) Maki, grew up in Deerton and was a former member of the Deerton Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving from 1942-1944. He worked for CCI for many years. Following his retirement he lived for 15 years in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Surviving are his sister, Sannie Luokkala, Negaunee, several nieces, nephews & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Martha.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans Chapel with Mr. Ardy Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
The arrangements are being handled by the Koskey Funeral Home.
