THE BLUE AND GOLD, 'IT 45
A TOAST TO THE GIRLS OF THE CLASS
Here's to the girls of the High School,
A toast I am glad to propose,
To the better half of our classmates,
The brightest, as everyone knows.
There's no doubt at all of your wisdom, You've learned everything in the books. And, what's more important to men-
folks,
You're a class of competent cooks.
For the future we wish you good fortune,
And everything good fortune sends.
We assure you that always you'll find us Your sincere and most loyal friends.
Then here's to the girls of the High School.
Whose ability none may surpass.
For you, our home town. Lake Linden, We give you, the girls of our Class.
LAKE LINDEN
Lake Linden. one of the many prosperous villages of the great Copper Country of Michigan, is located about five miles southeast of Calumet. one of the largest mining towns in the world. The population is near the three thousand mark and is still increasing. Work on the new High School building is progressing very rapidly and it is expected that by next September it will be ready for the opening of the fall term of school. The chief industry of Lake Linden is the milling and smelting of copper rock that comes from Calumet. Here is lo-cated the largest mill establishment for stamping copper rock in the world. Nearly three-fourths of the male population of the town are employed in these mills to which Lake Linden owes its existence. To the east of Lake Linden is Torch Lake, on which boats can go to Lake Superior. Summing up our community in a few words, we can say that Lake Linden is one of the most active and beautiful villages in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
