THE BLUE AND GOLD, '17.
Curren is not behind him in any respect either. He was exceptionally strong on defense. Hit 'em low, boys!
Our ends were great. St. Pierre playing his second year showed up strong at the end of the season and certainly took the place of his brother Remy. Pelland playing for the first year showed up well at end and altho' a little short was "right there."
We had no problems about our backfield at all. With half backs like Pickle, Sat. and Timmy. how could they stop us? Pickle was undoubtedly the fastest man on the team. His specialty was picking holes off end and tackles. Timmy was great on end runs and helped greatly in the scoring. Satterly! You all know Satterly. He was the only man who was playing the fourth year on the team. He especially excelled in giving exhibitions of accepting forward passes.
Our full back Flat. Don't you still remember him hitting that line and puncturing it for 10-15-20 yards? And interference! We'd like to see the man that could stop him. Signals, Flat
Quarter back was filled in by M. Wiesenauer who was playing for the third year on the team. The one thing he will remember is that Mr. Howard said to him after the Calumet game at Calumet "Well. Milo, you turned the season upside down."
And our coach. Mr. Howard. He is the man to whom all credit is due for the winning of games. After taking the bunch of dubs that our team was and whipping them into shape—well judge for yourself. The players are strong for him. May he always have successful teams.
Our second team was composed of young players who show promise of great things. Keep your eyes on them. Next year they will all be on the first team under Captain McNickle. As the team only loses Lord. Satterley. Vivian. Curren and Wiesenauer by graduation. they have the foundation of a very fast team for next year. Here's to their success.
Swell fares the school! To hastening fun to have Where boys accumulate The happy joys to halve. Teachers may flourish Or teachers may fade, A board can make them As a board has made; And a good football team Its high school pride.
Hf supplied with autos
Will always be able to ride.
— Milo Wiesenauer.
CHARGE OF THE LEFT END.
Dedicated to Zeldon Pelland.
With apologies to Tennyson Half a minute, Half a minute, Half a minute more!
All on the Calumet field
Hammered the eleven "Forward, you whole team ' Hit that line" he did scream. Into the Calumet crew
Sailed the eleven.
"Now for a forward pass."
Was there a man that grumbled? Nor had the quarter-back fumbled, Neither the left end bungled.
His not to break the rule, His not to stop or fool, His but to make a goal;
Into the enemy's field
Rambled that end.
Flat to the right of him. Sat. to the left of him. Pickle in front of him,
Cleared out the way for him.
Hit hard by half and end, All meant our men to rend, Into them with a bang, Went our husky gang.
Went that left end.
Ram! came their quarter there, And he they threw in air; Also their mighty full
Roaring just like a bull
But he likewise fared! Plunged in the battle smoke.
Right through the field the -- broke; Men flew from right of them. Men flew from left of them.
Battered and scared. Over the line he went
Oh ! that left end!
High School to the right of them, High School to the left of him. High School all around him,
Yelled and yelled some more Cheered by his friend and foe, They were the ones to know
His name was Pat,
And theirs, Pickle. Flat and Sat. Who had helped him through The mighty feat to do,
Oh! you left end.
