Ann J. Tarak, 92, of Dodgeville, passed away on June 26, 1999. Born on August 3, 1906, in Trimountain, she was the daughter of Ferdinand and maria (Burich)Herlevich. In 1937, she married John Tarak Jr, he died June 11, 1998. Anne retired in 1976, as Postmaster of Dodgeville where she worked for over 20 years. Surviving are two nephews, John and Mary Herlevich of Dodgeville and Frank and Pat Herlevich of Grand Rapids.

Martha J. Roy, 66, of Zeba, died on Monday, June 28, 1999. She was born on Feb. 2, 1933 in Baraga, a daughter of the late Leo and Bertha (Nadeau) Durant. She married Clarence Roy, Sr. in 1979. She is survived by her husband Clarence of Zeba, three sons, Donald and Karlene Chosa, Jr of Nett Lake, MN, Joseph Chosa of Zeba, Clarence and Irene Roy II of Marquette; four daughters, Frances and Lester Drift of Zeba, Rose Chosa of Zeba, REbecca and Bill Chosa-Evans of Zeba, Ateeka Roy of Zeba; two brothers Leo Durant of Marquette, Melvin Durant of Zeba; four sisters, Viola and John Banuchie of Ontonagon, Leona and Bill Bolo of Baraga, Julie and Bill Cardinal of Baraga, Catherine Sandquist of Ironwood; 31 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Urbo F. Lammi, 81, of L'Anse formerly of Houghton, died on June 27, 1999. He was born on June 3, 1918, in Winona, a son of the late Frank and Julia (Aho) Lammi. He married Bertha Talus in 1940. Surviving are his wife, sone Mike and Joan Lammi of Hanover Park, IL; a daughter, Julia and Mike Delich of Tapiola; brother, Wayne Talus of Ishpeming; and five grandchildren.

Glenn David Garver, 29, of Waco TX, died in a car accident on June 26, 1999. He was born on November 19, 1969. He is survived by his parents, Glenn David Garver, Sr. of Baraga and Adrinne Bailey of Waco, TX; a son Brian Johnson of Vulcan, MI; two brothers, Douglas Garver of Michigamme and Levi Bailey of Waco, TX; three sisters, Crystal Bailey of Waco, Sarah Garver of Baraga and Sharon Garver of Michigamme.

Loretta W. Saisini, 81, of Hubbell, passed away on June 21, 1999. She was born in Ahmeek, a daughter of Charles adn Florence Wilkings. In 1944, she married Hubert Salsini. Loretta worked for the J.C. Penney store in Houghton for many years. Surviving are her husband; a sister Esther Milinovich of Anaheim, CA; daughters, Cheryl and Robert Trevethan of Hancock and pauline and Robert Guse fo Cedarburg WI.

Edwin A. "Ed" Manninen, 73, of Houghton, died on June 22, 1999. He was born June 9, 1926, in Houghton, son of Arne and Aili (Kokko) Manninen. In 1950, he married Helen B. Riedy. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Daniel of Laurium, Roger and Jeanne of Chassell, Edward of Houghton; a daughter, Kathleen and Jim Steger of Alpharetta, GA; eight grandchildren; one brother, Earl and June of Houghton; three nephews, one niece, and several cousins.

Mary Grandelis, 94, of Calumet and Hancock, and formerly of Ironwood, died on June 22, 1999. She was born in Sopris, Co., on Sept. 10, 1904, daughter of Marco and Glacomina (Moseli)Carli. She married Lawrence Grandelis in 1927, he died in 1958. Mary is survived by two sons, John and Dorothy of Hancock, and Francis and Sheila of Brookfield, WI; a daughter, Margaret Grandelis of Hales Corners, WI; a brother, Emilio of Asszuno, Italy; a sister, Antonette of Milan, Italy; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Joseph John Robilard, 87, of L'Anse, died on June 24, 1999. He was born on April 6, 1912, in Painesdale to John and Anna (Petronovich)Kerkovich and adopted at the age of six by Ed and Millie (Tappae)Robillard of L'Anse. He married Georgianna Selden in 1940. Joseph is survived by a son, Joseph E of L'Anse; two daughters, Judy Robillard and MaryAnn and Tom voskuhl of L'Anse; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister mary Stone of Gladstone; two sister-in-laws and a brother-in-law.

Elsie E. Blom, 80, of Hancock passed away on June 23, 1999. Elsie was born on December 1, 1918, a daughter of Johan and Caroline (Carlson) Blom.

Elizabeth Codere, 94, of Lake Linden, died on June 24, 1999. She was born on August 2, 1904, in Hancock, a daughter of Joseph and mary (Roy)Racine. She married Stanley Codere Sr. In Lake Linden. He died in 1979. Surviving are a daughter, Yolande and Keneth Treidel of Lake Linden; five sons, Roy and Barbara of New Port Richey, FL, Gerald and Carol, Andre and Virginia, John and Lois and Brian and Donna, all of Lake Linden; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; four great-greatgrandchildren.

Edwin C. Speigel, 84, of Hancock, died on June 24, 1999. He was born in Atlantic Mine on June 30, 1914, a son of the late John and Lydia(Lindgren)Speigel. He married Viola Poikolainen in 1944. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, mary Jane and Daniel Butkus of Union Town, OH; a son, Mark of San Jose, CA; two grandchildren, two brothers, Carl and Carol of LaMoille, IL, and Raymond and Jennie of Stevensville, MI; two sisters, Ethel Spiegel and Pearl Kemppa, both of Spring Valley, IL.

Wilbert Anderson, 79, of Gay, died on June 20, 1999. He was born June 20, 1920, in Calumet, a son of William and Adele (Sandstrom) Anderson. His wife Betty died on just five days befor on June 15. Surviving are two daughters, Anita and Ken Simonen of New Berlin, WI and Karla and Glen Welberg of Bensenville, IL; a son, Mark Anderson of Calumet; a brother, Berger and Dorothy of Midland; four sisters-in-law and two brother-in-law; and six grandchildren.

Carl "Carlo" Heikkinen, 77, of Calumet, passed away on June 22, 1999. He was born on October 2, 1922, in Nisula, a son of the late Hulda and Charles Heikkinen. Surviving are a niece, Rosalyn and James Latvala of Calumet.

Kathryn M. Katalin, 81, of South Range, died on June 18, 1999. She was born February 21, 1918, in South Range, a daughter of the late Italo and Anna (Neiderest) Raffaelli. in 1937, she married Joseph G. Katalin. He preceded her in death in 1983. She is survived by two sons; Michael of South Range, Ronald and Judy of Madison, WI; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Martin of South Range and Floyd of Escanaba; two sisters, Marie and Russ Salo of South Range and Jean and Norman Kovala of Walled Lake.

Mabel E. Benson, 90, of Mohawk, passed away on June 19, 1999. She was born on May 29, 1999, in Wolverine, a daughter of James and Mary Elizabeth Kitto. She married Clarence Benson in 1927 and he died in 1977. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Carrie B. Leskinen, 84, of Kearsarge died on June 19, 1999. Carrie was born on October 18, 1914, in Mohawk, a daughter of Norman and Sophie Nordstrom. She was very active and was a board member of the Keweenaw County Historical Society. Carried married William Perrault in 1935, he preceded her in death in 1984. She later married Laurie W. Leskinen in 1982 and he died in 1984. Surviving are two daughters, Judith and Jack Preston of Northville and LacLaBelle and Joan and William Rosemergy of Kearsarge; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith and Albert Carano of Mohawk.

Alex A. Holman, 74, of Princess Point, died unexpectedly at his home. He was born December 31, 1924, in Stanton Township, a son of the late William and Jenny (Lampinen) Holman. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Judith Heikkila, 59, of Tamarack City, died on June 14, 1999. The former Judith Naasko was born in Toivola on February 27, 1940, a daughter of the late William Naasko and Edna (maki) Antila. In 1960, she married Robert Heikkila. Judy was working as a Registered Nurses Aide at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Cheryl and Thomas Monette of Tamarack City, a son, William of Hubble; two granddaughters; two brothers, James of Milwaukee, and Gary of Hebron, ID; three sisters, Janet Hottum of Pymouth, Geraldine Naasko of Lake Havasu City, AZ, June and Dominic Guili of Trimountain.

Betty E. Anderson, 72, of Gay, died on June 15, 1999. She was born in Calumet on November 28, 1926, a daughter of the late Felix and Emily (Heikkinen) Mattila. Surviving are her husband Wilbert; two daughters, Anita and Ken Simonen of New Berlin, WI; Karla and Glen Weiberg of Bensenville, IL; a son, mark Anderson of Calumet; four sisters, Barbara and Joe Reilly of bootjack, Lenore and Roy Bonini of Bootjack, Florence and Bob Sorvala of Portage Entry, Lois and Weldon Gaulin of New Berlin, Wi, two brothers, Fred and Mary Lou Mattila fo Houghton Canal, Harvey and Betty Mattila of Achton, CA; and six grandchildren.

Darren Gene King, 21, of Laurium died on June 13, 1999, as a result of injuries sustained in a truck accident that took place in Traprock Valley. Darren was born on Easter Sunday, March 26, 1978, in Laurium, the son of Sharon (King) Grieger and Donald Gene King. Darren is survived by his beloved Sarah Jean Teddy and their three week old daughter, Alexis Jean King; his parents, Sharon and Jon Grieger; three sisters, Kelly King, Sarah and Stephanie Grieger, all of Mohawk; and his maternal grandmother, Barbara Pintar of Calumet.

William J. Mountjoy, 81, of South Range, died on June 14, 1999, at his home. He was born July 18, 1917, in Hancock, a son of William and Lydia (kalio) Mountjoy. In 1939, he married Amanda Maki. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Virginia and Joe Long of Abilene, Tx; two sons, William and Mildred of Bridgeport, CN, and James of South Range.

Florence Ciucci, 89, of South Range, passed away on June 13, 1999. She was born on February 25, 1910, in Lucca, Italy and came to the US in 1014, settling in Baltic. Surviving are three daughters, Norma Nuottila of hancock, Bena Rilei of Calumet, Delores and George Auger of Houghton; three sons, alfred and Anita of Milwaukee, Louis and Karen of Forest Lake, MN, Peter and Joan of South Range; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Sue Nelson of Norridge, IL, Muffi Pierozzi of Harwood Heights, IL, Eva Chimino of Houghton; nieces and nephews.

Virginia M. VanLinden, 87, of Baraga, died on June 14, 1999, at her home following a short illness. She was born July 30, 1911, in Zeba, a daughter of Edward and Julia (Barbano)Asher. She is survived by her husband, Leonard of the Covington Rest Home; six daughters, Jan Eklund of AZ, Julia Smith of St. Louis, MO, Cecelia Owens of Baraga, Aurelia and James Hull of Grafton, WI, Agnes Hucksteadt of Baraga, Lois and Roger Bodga of Milwaukee; 37 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Burial in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Cote, 87, died on June 10, 1999. She was born August 9, 1911 in Keweenaw Bay, to John Carl and Rebecca (MacDonald) Crebassa. Surviving are a sister, Catherine Hearn of Dearborn Heights, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar "Buster" Cote in 1967; five brothers; and four sisters.

John Nissen, 69, of Ontonagon, died on June 13, 1999.

Eino Simi, 84, of Hancock died on June 12, 1999. He was born January 7, 1914, in Nisula, son of the late Carl and Elsa (Hadasaari) Simi. He married the former Elizabeth Henry in 1944. Eino is survived by two brothers, John of Tawas City and Erwin and Janet of Alpena; two siters, Esther Lepistio of Sacramento, CA and Dora and Elmer Anttonen of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister-in-law, Virginia Simi of Newberry; and a brother in law, Harlan Collar of Sewell, NJ.

Leonard D. Yeo, 72, of Laurium, died on June 12, 1999. He was born in Calumet on November 19, 1926, to Annie and Leonard Yeo. He married Margaret Beaton in 1953. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Cheryl of Fresno, CA, Mary and Alan Rautio of Copper City; two sons, Dale of Houghton, Dave and Mary of Laurium, four grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn and Robert Kaarela of Sterling Heights.

Henry J. Crebassa, 64, of Baraga, died on June 12, 1999. He was born February 4, 1935, in L'Anse, son of the late Henry Crebassa and Virginia VanLinden. Henry is survived by his mother; six sisters, Jan Eklund of AZ, Julia Smith of St. Louis, MO, Cecelia Owens of Barga, Aurelia and James Hull of Grafton, WI, Agnes Huckstaedt of Baraga, Lois and Roger Bogda of Milwaukee, and many neices and nephews. Burial in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.

Florence Erickson, 85, of Houghton, died on June 13, 1999. She was born, Florence Andrews, September 17, 1913, in Winona. She was employed at the Douglass House in Houghton as a chamber maid for over 30 years. Her husband Arthur, preceded her in death in 1962. Surviving are two daughters, Helen and Glenn Hurn of Houghton Canal, Joanne and Dennis Larsen of Atlantic Mine; three sons, John of Hurontown, Arthur and Mary Ann of #2 Location, Lloyd "Shoebox" of Houghton, 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Craig P. Nakkula, 24, of Calumet, died on June 13, 1999 from injuries sustained in a four wheeler accident in Bootjack. He was born on January 7, 1975, in Laurium, a son of Rupert and Joyce (Jokela)Nakkula. Surviving are his parents;; a brother, Ted of Calumet; a sister, Michelle and David Hall of Calumet; his grandmother, Lydia Nakkula of Copper City; nieces Sheila and Kristen Hall of Calumet.

William J. Kallio, 83, of Watton, died on June 10, 1999. He was born on January 8, 1916, in Watton, son of Herman and Alexandria (Torma) Kallio. He married the former Eleanor Visuri in 1944, in Trout Creek. He worked at the Watton Co-op for 40 years, retiring in 1978. William was a local historian and author of two books, "Streets of Gold" and Centennial Book" of Covington Township. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; nephew, Richard Autio of Milwaukee; two nieces, Shirley Borg of Negaunee, Jean Lasker of Woodbury, MN; two great nephews, David borg, Kory Lasker; and one great-niece, Janaya Lasker. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery.

Emma H. Paulson, 89, of Chassell, died on June 11, 1999. She was born on March 13, 1910, in Mohawk, a daughter of the late William L. and Mary C. (Muonio) Simula. Emma had worked as and LPN at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital for 17 1/2 years, the C & H Hospital in Calumet, and at the Lake Linden Hospital. In 1934, she married Henry Paulson, he died in 1994. Surviving are two sons, Gary of Chassell and Leon of Marquette; a grandson, Adam of Chassell and 11 other grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Laila and Robert Oja of Mohawk, Eva and Eino Simonson of Chassell, Lillian and Charles Simonson of Hancock; and a brother, William and Jennie Simula of Hancock.

Henry A. Williams, 86, of Gay-Lake Linden Road, died on June 8, 1999. He was born in Cliff Mine Location on December 2, 1912, a son of Frank and Emelena (Harjuniemi) Williams. Surviving are a sister, Martha and John Hulkoff of Houghton and one nephew and three neices.

Gordon R. Hietala, 68, OF Highway Location, died on June 8, 1999. He was born on July 1 1930, in Calumet, a son of the late Ida and Robert Hietala. In 1953, he married the former Grace Mattson, she died in 1993. Surviving are a daughter Kimberly Hietala of Paavola; four sons, Donald and Mary Jo, Keith , Mark, all of Sheboygan, Kenric and Susan of Sheboygan Falls, WI; seven grandchildren; a great grandson; and two sisters.

Bernadette L. Haas, 102, of Lake Linden, died on June 9, 1999. Born Bernadette LaRoseon March 13, 1897, in Lake Linden, she was the daughter of Henri and Marie LaRose. In 1941, she married Martin Haas, he died in 1968. Surviving are a niece, Zoe Lewis of Hubbell; and several great nieces and nephews.

Randall Jon Houle, 30, of Hancock, died on June 8, 1999. He was born in Hancock on April 15, 1969, a son of George and Suzanne (Hauswirth) Houle. He married Joanna Ollanketo in 1994. He is survived by his wife; a son, Hunter; his parents; a sister, Candace and Alan Silvola of Hancock; a brother, Scott of Hancock; grandparents, Robert and June Houle of Hancock.

Wallace "Wally" Engman, 81, of Houghton, passed away on June 8, 1999. He was born November 10, 1917, in Dollar Bay. He was employed by the Horner Flooring Mill in Dollar Bay for 46 years until his retirement. He married the former Helen Becker-LaRoux in 1948. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mary Ann and Dennis Kratzhe of Munising; a son Dennis and Judith Engmen of Laurium; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Drusilla M. Holme, 94, of Calumet died on June 8, 1999. She was born July 8, 1904 in Laurium, a daughter of Charles and Mary (Saari) Tikkanen. She married Carl Holme in 1928. Carl died in 1982. Surviving are two brothers, Alan and Dorothy Tikkanen and Harlod and Terry Tikkanen, both of the Golf Course Road in Calumet; a sister, Sylvia Huhta of Denver, CO; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Andrew Cummings, 79, of Rabbit Bay, died on June 7, 1999. He was born in Flint, MI on October 13, 1919, a son of Darryl and Marion (Bryant) Cummings. He married Betty Price in 1941, she preceded him in death. He then married the former Louise Mendosa and she died in 1986. Surviving are three sons, Ernest and Jean Cummings of Camp Verde, AZ, Andrew R. Cummings of AZ, John and Katherine Cummings of Lake Linden; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren..

Wilfred P. "Monk" Verville, 84, of Hancock, died on June 7, 1999. He was born October 17, 1914, the oldest of seven children. He married Mary T. Frantila in 1935. She died in 1986. Mr. Verville was a longtime employee of Vollwerth and Company of Hancock. He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Zintman of Marquette; two sons, Ronald of Souix Falls, SD, and James of Eaton Rapids; three sisters; a brother; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Creta Azalea Bayee, 92, of Ontonagon, died on June 6. 1999. She was born January 9, 1907, in Taylorville, IL, a daughter of James and Corda (Speagle) White. She married Maximillian Bayee in 1943. Creta is survived by four nephews and four nieces. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery.

Hilja Perander, 86, of Pelkie, died on June 6, 1999. She was born on October 1, 1912, in Pelkie, a daughter of the late Jacob and Maria (Toppari) Johnson. In 1958, she married Walfred Perander. He preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by two sisters, Laina Pelto of L'Anse, and Taimi and George make of Pelkie; a brother, Arne and Alli Johnson, of Stockton, CA; a step-brother, Edwin (Dagmer)Perander of Middletown, Ohio; and mumerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ruth Moilanen, 82, of Alston, died on June 6, 1999. She was born in Jacobsville on April 24, 1917, a daughter of the late Matt and Ellen (Dyni) Pietila. In 1946, she married Evert Moilanen. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1985. Surviving are a son, Charles and Iris Pietila of L'Anse, two daughters, Betty Riutta of Dollar Bay, and Martha and Ken Sharlein of Iron River; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Matt and Marie Pietila of Troy.

Shirley L. Keranen Line, 72, of Covington, formerly of Atlantic Mine died on June 6, 1999. She was born May 4, 1927, in Atlantic Mine, a daughter of Einard and Alma (Kempainen) Keranen. She married Ed Line in 1981. She was a cook for 25 years at Portage View Hospital. Surviving are a daughter Ann Marie and Edward Scarlett of Hardwick, MN; two grandchildren, Lisa and Wade Steeneck of Beresford, SD and Susan Scarlett of Edison, NJ; one great-granddaughter, Laura Ashley Steeneck; four brothers and two sisters.

Mary Langer, 97, of Lake Linden, died on June 3, 1999. She was born in Painesdale on January 9, 1902, to Mary and Anton Plutt. She married Ira Langer in 1923. Surviving are her son, Joseph and Donna Lou of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Laura Lee Langer, Paul and Linda, Carol Lynn, and Lois Ann, two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and David.

Lucille "Cleo" Filip, 88, of Allouez, died on June 5, 1999. Cleo was born on March 26, 1911 in Allouez, a daughter of Ferdinand and Caroline Petermann. She married Michael Filip in 1937, he preceded her in death in 1969. Surviving are nieces, Ruth Kestle of Ahmeek; Pauline and Homer Johnson of Ahmeek, Dotty Lynn Hazen of Saginaw; nephews, Ernest and Jean Frisk of Laurium, Paul and Pat Petermann of Dimondale, MI. Interment will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Howard F. Gustafson, 85, of Chassell, died on June 5, 1999. He was born on March 11, 1914, in Atlantic Mine, a son of Isaac and Elma Gustafson. He married Mamie Pelto in 1948. Prior to his retirement Howard worked for 30 years for Pontiac Motors in Detroit. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Ireland, Germany and France during WWII. Surviving are his wife, Mamie; a daughter Sahron and Paul Gaponik of Madison Heights. Burial in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.

Delores M. Ojala, 64, of Broemer Rd, Chassell, passed away on June 6, 1999. She was born in Calumet on February 19, 1935, to Exilda and Edward Stepech. On November 6, 1954, she married Raymond Ojala. She worked as a beutician at the Pink Cloud Salon, and for the past 20 years she operated her salon in Chassell. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Naomi of chassell, Nancy and Gary Kreuger of Decatur, MI, Julie Linder of Norfolk, VA; four grandchildren; a sister, Marion Francis of Rockford, IL; four brothers, Edward and Charlene Stepech of Redondo Beach, CA, Ernest and Mary Jane Stepech of Lampe, MO, Frank and Sharon Stepech of Chassell, and Donald and Pamela Stipech of Palmdale, CA.

Angel Taivaloja, 26, of Laurium, died on June 6, 1999. Angel was born on November 20, 1972, in Laurium, a daughter of charles and Peggy Taivolaja. She was a graduate of Calumet High School, class of 1990. She is survived by her mother Peggy of Laurium and her father, Charles of Mohawk; a brother, Norman Ruonavaara of Jasper, FL; two sisters, Tammy Ruonavaara of Calumet, Jenny Jo of Bay City; and grandmother Margaret Schmidt of Calumet.

Stanley J. Paull, 81, of Ahmeek, died on June 4, 1999. He was born on march 20, 1918 in Ahmeek, a son of Willian and Carrie (Cocking)Paull. He married Evelyn Hannula in 1957 in Calumet. Surviving are two sons, James and Karen paull of Milwaukee; William Paull also of Milwaukee; a daughter, Cheryl and Mike Deurloo of Norway, MI; a step-daughter, Mildred Pyorala of Chassell and Lois Stukel of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister Grace and Harry Houle of Menominee; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Clarence T. Tobola, 92, of Calumet, died on June 3, 1999. He was born in Calumet on November 16, 1906 to Petronella and Peter Tobola. He married Marie Radke in Detroit. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Arlene and Arsen Khelokian, Marilyn and Doughas Maust; a son, Clemence and Carol; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Margaret E. Miller, 78, of Laurium, passed away on June 3, 1999. She was born on June 15, 1920 in Mohawk, a daughter of Angelo and Catherine Marson. Margaret owned and operated Miller's Recreation in Laurium for 50 years. She married William Miller in 1943 in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by a daughter, Marge and Chuck bonen of Florida Location; a son, Bill and Pat Miller of Laurium; five grandchildren, a sister, Gloria Torreano of Brookfield, Wi; sisters-in-law, Kay Marson of Detroit, and Rosalie Marson of Laurium.

Linnea Irene Fredrickson, 79, formerly of L'Anse passed away on May 31, 1999. She was born on September 8, 1919, the daughter of hjalmer and Juliana (Palovara)Wanhatalo, and was a graduate of Houghton High School, class of 1927. Linnea first married Robert E. Oja who passed away in 1966. She then married Harry Fredrickson on June 19, 1971. Surviving are her husband Harry; two daughters, Bonnie and Doug Wittum of Owosso, and Julie and Jon Neisus of Escanaba; seven grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

Mildred Linna, 75, of Ontonagon, died on June 1, 1999.

Maxine Michalski, 83, of Ontongon died on June 2, 1999.

Ensio A. Bjorklund, 90, formerly of Liminga and Oskar, died on June 1, 1999, at Cypress Manor in Hancock. He was born May 27, 1909, in Hancock, a son of the late Evert and Laina (Ollila) Bjorklund. He married Sula Asbridge in 1954. Ensio is survived by a sister, Libby Koski of Ripley; a stepson, Larry Howard of St. Peters, MO; a niece, Joyce Rimpela of Chassell and a nephew, Ronald Paavo of Ripley.

Daniel G. Schultz, 65, of Marquette, died on May 29, 1999. He was born on October 24, 1933, in Painesdale, to the late Edward and Ruth (Carne)Schultx. He owned and operated Schultx 50-minute cleaners in Houghton until 1989. Surviving are three children, Danielle and Mike LeBeau of Escanaba; nancy (Kyoshi)Poynter of Beltsville, Md and James and Sandy Schutx of Leipzig, Germany; a sister, Marann Martin of Washington; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Margaret Schneller, 86, of Laurium, died on May 30, 1999. She was born on August 14, 1912, in Calumet, a daughter of Michael and Albina Schneller. Surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Minetti of Laurium and Rose Bald of Royal Oak; a sister-in-law, Angeline Schneller of Laurium; and neices, nephews and cousins.

Juliette M. High, 85, of Lake Linden, died on May 30, 1999. She was born in Harburg, Germany on March 21, 1914 to Thomas and Winefred Marshall. She married R. Donald High in N.J. in 1938. She is survived by her brother, Benjamin T. Marshall of Eastham, Mass; a sister Elizabeth Austin of Green Valley, AZ; a sister-in-law, and Janet Hiltunen of Schoolcraft.

George "Chief" Millenbach, 90, of Houghton, died on May 29, 1999. George was born on February 11, 1909 in Houghton. Over a long career in education he taught in Tapiola, Painesdale, Dearborn, Grosse Ile, Calumet, Chassell, and Ontonagon. He was very active in Boy Scouting, the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and the South Range Aerie of Eagles. Surviving are two brothers, John and Mary of Keswick, Canada; Brother Lucidus of Notre Dame; one niece and two nephews.

William Niemi, 66, of Dodgeville, died on May 27, 1999, following a lenghty illness. He was born January 30, 1933 in Dodgeville. Surviving are his wife; Shirley (Aho), a daughter, Sharon and paul Kochan of Overland Park, KS; a son, David and Cherie Niemi of Dodgeville; two grandchildren, Lisa and Ashley Niemi; two sisters, Shirley and James Pascoe of Escanaba, and Barbara and Wayne Masters of Green Bay.

Leo Durocher, 56, of Freda, was pronounced dead on arrival at Portage Hospital on May 27, 1999, following a heart attack while playing baseball. He was born September 26, 1942, in Trimountain. He married Mry Jadin on January 20, 1973, in Kewaunee. He was employed by his father, Clarence, in the logging business, which he purchased in 1992. He was also a partner with his brother, Clyde, at the Superior View Restaurant in Feada. Surviving are his wife; on daughter, Darcy and Jason Bickman of Birnamwood, WI; three sons, Thomas of Freda, Andre and Daron, at home; one grandchild, Dax Durocher; parents, Laila and Clarence of Freda; three brothers, Clarence and Clyde of Freda; Stanley of Ontonagon; two sisters, Darlene Persha of Freda, Janet Papke of Freda; several nieces and nephews.
