Marjorie S. Adair, age 55, of Mechanicsville, VA, formerly of Holly died Sun. Dec. 2, 2007. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at Lakeside Cemetery, Holly with Pastor Patricia Harton officiating. Mrs. Adair was born in Wytheville, VA on September 18, 1952 the daughter of Raymond and Ida Sue (Mabe) Irvin. She is survived by her husband Jim; daughter Angela (Matthew) Adair-Ryan of Atlanta, GA and grandson Jackson Adair-Ryan; daughter Heather (Kevin Scott) Adair of Mechanicsville, VA; sister Judy (Loring) Irvin Burdick of Montgomery, AL; niece Melissa Burdick; and great-niece Taylor Burdick; She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Joe and Ed Irvin. Clyde F. Beardsley, age 88 of Wolverine, MI and Holiday, FL died Wed. Nov. 28, 2007 in Tarpon Springs, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Marc Burnett officiating. Burial will be in Andersonville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Sunday and 12-2 P.M. Monday. Mr. Beardsley was born in Springfield Twp. on March 21, 1919 the son of George and Josephine (Doty) Beardsley. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army and was in the Normandy invasion. He was retired from Chrysler Corp after 30 years of service as a pipe fitter. He was a member American Legion Post #122 of Wolverine and the VFW Post of Indian River. His favorite pastimes were golf, working on old cars, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife Mildred (Richards) Beardsley, and step-daughter Sally Riethmeier. He is survived by his wife Neva (Sackrider) Beardsley; 3 step-daughters Thelma Parkman of Vanderbilt, Grace (James) Colpean of Bay City, and Rose (Rich) Henderson of Saginaw; step-son James Riethmeier of Wolverine; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Samie E. Cody, age 78 of Holly died Thursday Nov. 22, 2007 at Arbor Inn, Warren, Mi. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at the Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Holly with Pastor Bob Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at the Dryer Funeral Home. Samie was born on June 4, 1929 in Sergent, Kentucky the daughter of Wilo and Rhoda (Allen) Bentley. She owned Samie’s Coins & Gifts for 33 yrs. in Holly. Surviving are her 3 daughters, Shelia (Ted) Mannikka of Warren, Sharon (Havard) Gauthier, Haughton, Lo., Susan (Bobby) Long, Warren, and 1 son William R. (Sandra) Cody of Proctor, W. Vi. 8 Grandchildren, Matt Mannikka, Tiffany Duffney, Lee Morris, Tami Krebs, William Long, Cynthia Leach, Christine Holman, & Lara Lemieux. 8 great-grandchildren. Several sisters and one brother, sister-in-law Nola Cody Shively. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Cody of Holly. Gomer Euston Evans of Grand Blanc died peacefully at the Genesys Convalescent Center on Wednesday, November 21, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Alvaro Sauza officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-6 P.M. Friday and Saturday. Gomer was born on June 3, 1922 in Mountain Ash, Wales, UK. Gomer is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beryl Patricia Evans; three sons, Timothy Evans and his wife Sonya of East Highland Ranch CA, Nicholas Evans and his wife Kimberly and granddaughters Madison and Camryn of Fenton, and son David Evans and his wife Erin of Chicago, IL. Gomer served in WWII in the British Home Guard. He was educated and worked as both a Mechanical and Civil Engineer, beginning his career in London, England and then moving to the United States permanently in 1963. Gomer received numerous recognitions as a professional engineer and taught as adjunct faculty in the engineering schools at both Lawrence Tech and the University of Michigan. Gomer and his wife Beryl raised their three sons in Holly, Michigan and were active members of the Holly Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he served many years as a deacon, choir director, elder, and religious liberty leader. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and numerous others. Gomer rests with the belief "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give on that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing".

Rudolph B. Peabody, age 77 of Burton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sat. Nov. 17, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Sunday. Mr. Peabody was born in Holly on June 22, 1930 the son of Thomas and Stella (Swartz) Peabody. He was retired from Numatics of Highland after 29 years of service. He was a member of the Eagles Nest Church of Mt. Morris. Surviving are his wife Juanita; 4 children, Robin (Ken) Krueger of Highland, Randy Peabody of Manistique, Ricky (Sandy) Peabody of FL, and Russell Lee (Tina) Peabody of New Hudson; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister Florence Stephens of AZ. v

Paul L. Merritt, age 62 of Fenton died Fri. Nov. 9, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Father Gary McGinnis officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Monday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Interment and military honors will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Mr. Merritt was born in Pontiac on Oct. 15, 1945 the son of Donald and Mary "Pat" (Lanway) Merritt. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Marines. He was a former employee of Dur Automation of Novi. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and nature lover. Surviving are his wife Paula; son Andrew (Nicolle) Merritt of Flint; 2 step-children, Martin Joslyn of Troy and Lindsey Joslyn of Fenton; 3 grandchildren Kaley, Selena, and Adam Merritt; daughter-in-law Shelly Merritt of Clio; sister Donna (Les) Lindsley of Holly; brother John Merritt of CA; and brother-in-law Bill Raleigh of Holly; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis E. Ambrose, 76 of Grand Blanc, formerly of Burton passed away Nov. 3, 2007 at Genesys Health Park. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1:00
PM Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Robert D. Taylor officiating. Phyllis was born in Flint on July 19, 1931. She met and married James H. Ambrose in Washington D.C. in 1952 when she was working for the US Department of the Navy. They returned to Phyllis' home of Flint and have lived in the area ever since. She was a member of the ABWA and was awarded Business Women of the Year in 1983. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband James on Oct. 26, 2007. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Debbie (Andy) Tabbert of Linden, Dale (Jerry) Blunk of Merrill, and Penny (Rich) Perez of Grand Blanc; 3 granddaughters, Tara and Amanda Tabbert of Linden and Kassi Perez of Grand Blanc. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Robert E. Walters, age 83 formerly of Davisburg and Holly died Mon. Oct. 29, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Sat. Nov. 3, 2007 at the Davisburg United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Davisburg Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 and Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion of Holly. Visitation will be from 4-9 P.M. Friday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mr. Walters was born in Pontiac on Nov. 9, 1923 the son of Robert and Eva (Samuel) Walters. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army. He was retired from GM Truck and Coach after 37 years of service in the Personnel Dept. and as an Employment Manager,He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Waterford, Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW, and Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion. His passions were golf and music, and he played saxophone in the Holly Festival Band. Surviving are his wife Beverly; 3 children, Cathy (James) King of Holly, John (Kim) Walters of Herron, MI, and Jim (Sandi) Walters of Holly; 4 grandchildren, Brad, Whitney, Mandolin, and Emily; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Cal Walters of GA; and loving companion Ilene Thayer of Grand Blanc. He was preceded in death by 2 sons Bobby and Steve Walters; brothers William and Carl Walters.; and sister Mary Wiechert. Memorials may be made to the Davisburg United Methodist Church or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.

Renee M. Smith, nee Tolley, age 93, widow of the late Austin H. Smith, MD, passed away on Oct. 10, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Renee was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 14, 1914. Her daughter, Kathie L. Duncan, with whom she has resided for the past 23 years, survives her. Renee graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan, and also attendee Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit. She lived on the island of Oahu in Hawaii working as administrator at Hickam Air Field, and worked for many years as an employment counselor in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After her marriage to Dr. Smith in 1964, Renee assisted in his medical practice in Kent City, Michigan. Renee spent many years working as a Bereavement Specialist with Widow and Widowers in support groups in both Grand Rapids and Holly. Renee lived in Holly during her Elementary and Jr. High years and later returned to Holly for eight years. At that time, she worked with the Dryer Funeral Home’s Widow-Widower Support Group. Her wish was that no service be held. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of choice or Holly Presbyterian Church, 207 E. Maple St., Holly, Michigan 48442.

Helen Amelia Leppala, age 91 of Fenton died Tues. Oct 23, 2007. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Sat. Oct. 27, 2007 at the Dye Road Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1187 S. Dye Rd. Flint, MI. Mrs. Leppala was born on Drummond Island, MI on March 26, 1916 the daughter of Henry and Hannah (Arkman) Sumen. She was a dedicated member as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 60 years. Surviving are her daughter Diane (the late Gary) Marsh of Fenton; 2 grandchildren, Melanie (Kurt) Ulbick of Brighton and Derek (Darlene) Marsh of Flushing; 6 great-grandchildren Andrew and Megan Ulbick, Taylor, Mackenzie, Vanessa, and Garret Marsh. She was preceded in death by her husband Aaron Leppala. Memorial donations may be made to the Flint West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Arrangements by Dryer Funeral Home, Holly.
