Jacob Michael Fischer, age 2 of Holly died Mon. Oct. 22, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Hank Messing officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday. Jacob was born in Grand Blanc on October 20, 2005 the beloved son of Eric and Samantha (Scott) Fischer. He is survived by his parents Eric and Samantha Fischer; grandparents Nancy Fischer, Marv and Julie Scott, and Jim and Pam Smith; great-grandmother Valerie Peabody; and special friend Jonnie Clemmer. Memorials donations may be made to the Mott Children's Hospital, Ann Arbor or Holly Area Schools - Special Services.
Joseph W. Armstead, age 52 of Holly died Fri. Oct. 19, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tues. Oct. 23, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Sun. and Mon. Mr. Armstead was born in Bad Axe on Aug. 14, 1955 the son of Joseph and Bernice (Profit) Armstead. He was retired from AT&T. Surviving are his wife Debbie; 2 children, Jamie (Chris) Adler of Holly and Joe (Crystal) Armstead III of Vernon; 4 grandchildren, Kaeden and Landen Adler and Makayla and Emma Armstead; parents Joe and Bernie Armstead of AZ; sister Jan (Dave) Passmore of Clarkston; brother John (Linda) Armstead of Holly; and sister Jill (Dick) Winglemire of Holly; and his beloved dogs Willie and Spike. Carl F. Meng, age 86 formerly of AuGres and Drayton Plains died Sat. Oct. 6, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Holly with Pastor Howard Hardy officiating. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mr. Meng was born in Detroit on Dec. 12, 1920 the son of Frederick and Caroline (Bruner) Meng. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army. He was retired from GM Pontiac Motors. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eusebia; son Mike Meng; sister Barbara Nasin; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Holly.
Ernest A. Garant, age 82 of Holly died Mon. Oct. 1, 2007 at Genesys Heath Park. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Fri. Oct. 5, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Fenton. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Wed. and Thurs. Mr. Garant was born in Flint on Sept. 20, 1925 the son of Alexander and Agnes (LaLonde) Garant. He lived most of his life in Holly and worked at the G.M. Ternstedt Plant, retiring in 1983. He was a polio survivor and the past few years was confined to a wheelchair. He was an inspiration to all of us in teaching us that you can overcome any hardship and live your life as if you had no disability. Most people did not notice that he had one. He managed Holly Little League teams, taught archery to 4-H groups, and repaired lawn mowers. He enjoyed bowling, and hunting and fishing trips. He especially loved vacationing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy; his 4 children, Kathy (Bill) Brody, Bill Garant, Norm (Debbie) Garant, and Lorraine (Paul) Bauer, and Ken Walker; 12 grandchildren, Kenny, Crystal, Robert, Brian, George, Holly, Lane, Steven, Vincent, Steffen, Brandi, and Brianna; 9 great-grandchildren, Logan, Drake, Caitlyn, Kora, Devan, Dylan, Alexandria, Juliana, and Emma Grace; 2 sisters Delores Winningham and Leah Allard. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters Lucille, Rosie, and Edna; 4 brothers, Richard, Andrew, Leonard (John), and William; and niece Sandrea Walker. Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes or the American Cancer Society.
Everett J. Cummings, age 92, of Holly died Fri. Sept. 28, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Mon. Oct. 1, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Bob Trimball officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Sunday. Mr. Cummings was born in Buncombe, IL on Feb. 12, 1915 the son of William and Eva (Sabina) Cummings. He was a real estate broker in the Union Lake area for many years. He was a former member of the Pontiac Eagles and the Tee Creek Kentucky on June 14, 1953 the daughter of Denver and Emma Jean (Witt) Dean. She is survived by her husband Tom; 3 children, Heidi Lalone, Tommy Range, and Shirley Stajkowski; 9 grandchildren; and sister Sheila (Rick) Thomas. She was preceded in death by her brother Dennis Dean. Memorial donations may be given to the family. Arrangements by Dryer Funeral Home.
Seeley Tinsman, age 95 of Holly died Fri. Sept. 7, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Mon. Sept. 10, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor M. Jean Love officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Sunday. Mr. Tinsman was born in Holly on Dec. 22, 1911 the son of Leo and Marie (Everts Smith).Tinsman. He married Ethel Giles of Holly on July 12, 1936. He was class Treasurer of the Holly High School Class of 1928. He was a full time farmer for many years and he worked for the Federal Government Farm Program where he measured every farm and field in Holly Township. He was a loan inspector and performance supervisor in the Farm Program of Oakland County until he was appointed Supervisor of Holly Township on July 1, 1958. He was reelected every election until resigning on June 30, 1979. He also served on the Oakland County Board of Supervisors from 1958 thru 1968. He was a charter member of the Holly High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He played baseball until nearly everyone went to WWII. He also played softball. Mr. Tinsman was one of the founders of the Holly Little League and was a Little League Manager for many years. After retiring as Holly Twp. Supervisor, he spent most of his time in Florida. Surviving are 2 daughters Janice Mae (Gordon) Johnson and Betty Ann ( Richard) Messel; 7 grandchildren, William (Jane) Angus, Daniel (Alice) Johnson, Laurie (Randy) Olson, Carol (Jerry) Deren, Patricia (Todd) Hamilton, Michael (Dolores) Angus, and Linda (Randy) Hankins; 7 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1great-great-grandchild; 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel and son Robert Tinsman. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
