WENDY SCHAEFER, 43, of Birmingham, died April 4, 2003. A mortgage broker with Stratford Funding, Mrs. Schaefer was active with Orchards Children’s Services and Planned Parenthood. She is survived by her son and daughter, Josh Steven Schaefer and Sydney Beth Schaefer; father, Harry Witus of West Bloomfield; brother, Stephen Simon of Woodland Hills, Calif.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Janice Morse, Alana and Adam Morse, Lori Bacher, Amy Simon, Doris and Irving Goldman, Marvin and Nola Goldman, Mildred Simon, Carol and Mitchell Klein, Jackson and Natalie Klein. MAX SCHWARTZ, 89, of Mt. Clemens, died April 4, 2003. He was a partner in House of Appliance in Mt. Clemens. During World War II, Mr. Schwartz was in the Army’s third division, fighting in Italy and France. Among his many honors were the Croix de Coeur and the Purple Heart. He was instrumental in securing the property and funds for a new synagogue in Mt. Clemens; it became Beth Tephilath Moses. He served there for many years as president, also serving, at times, as rabbi, cantor, sexton and fund-raiser. Mr. Schwartz is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Allan and Dina Schwartz of Southfield; brother and sister-in-law, Judge Michael and Carole Schwartz of Clinton Township; sisters, Clara Green of Southfield, Elsie Yellin of Florida; grandchildren, Gabriel, Rachel, Joshua, Jonathan, Rebecca, Brandon, Shaina, Brittany. ISADORE WUNTNER, 98, of Miami. He came to Hamtramck from Poland at age 5 and lived in Detroit for the next 60 years before retiring to Miami. He is survived by daughters, Diane Berger of Gaylord, Mich., and Janet Raznick of San Francisco; grandchildren, Leonard Raznick of Daly City, Calif., Eric Raznick of Pacifica, Calif., Larry Downes of Kensington, Calif., Ron Downes of Columbia, Md., Robert Berger of Gaylord; eight great-grandchildren. He was the husband of the late Sally.
FRED CHERRIN, 67, of Bloomfield Hills, died April 3, 2003. He was the owner of State Steel Company and a member of Temple Israel. MAY MACK, 88, of Huntington Woods, died April 3, 2003. SARAH “SALLY” MILLER JACOBSON, 90, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, died April 2, 2003. She had been an active member of Hadassah, Pioneer Women, B’nai B’rith Women and Squaw Creek Country Club. She also volunteered at Heritage Manor in Youngstown for many years. Mrs. Jacobson actively participated in Temple El Emeth and its sisterhood in Youngstown and at Temple Beth Shalom in Sun City, Ariz., and sang in temple choirs for over 50 years. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Miller and Gould Beauty and Barber Supply Inc. in Youngstown, which was founded by her first husband, the late Alfred Miller, whom she married in 1934. Mrs. Jacobson is survived by her husband of 18 years, Albert Jacob-son; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sandy Miller of Ohio and Sarasota, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Anita F. and Dr. Edward Haenick of Bloomfield Hills; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Ellie Brown of Escondido, Calif.; grandchildren, Marcy (Alan) Lichtesien, Mark (Robin) Miller, Michelle (Dr. Michael) Kovernick, Dr. Michael (Amy) Haenick and Martin Haenick; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Adam and Ian.
