Marjorie M. Dumas, age 86 of Holly died Mon. Sept. 3, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thurs. Sept. 6, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Emerson Arntz officiating. Burial will be in Beebe Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Wed. Mrs. Dumas was born in Milford on Feb. 28, 1920 the daughter of Kenneth and Alice (Aldrich) Wells. She and her late husband Harvey were lifetime farmers in Rose Township. Surviving are her son Merle (Alta) Whittaker of Oxford; daughter Joyce Randall of Holly; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Lenabelle Barber of Clarkston; brothers Frank (Vivian) Wells of Waterford, Ed (Barbara) Wells of Holly, and Cameron Wells of Holly. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Dumas, son Milton (Betty) Whittaker, and brothers Harold and Don Wells. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. or the American Heart Assoc.
Arthur T. Stack, age 96 of Holly died Tues. Aug. 28, 2007. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Fri. Aug. 31, 2007 at St. Rita Catholic Church of Holly with Father David Blazek celebrant. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 PM Thurs. and a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Thurs. at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mr. Stack was born in Holly on Nov. 28. 1910 the son of Frank and Hortense (O'Connell) Stack. He was a farmer in the Holly area for many years and was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. He was an assessor for the Groveland Twp Board of Review and was a member of the Oakland County Agricultural Extension Office. Surviving are his beloved wife of 71 years, Anna; 5 children, Thomas (Janet) Stack of Holly, Danny (Yvonne) Stack of FL, Ronald (Dolores) Stack of Vestaburg, Carol (Tom) TX, and Madaria Southerland of AR; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; mother Frances Vandruska of NV; brothers Joey, Timmy, Daniel, and Christopher; sister Annie; step-mother Kim Vandruska; and his cats Muffy and Missy. He was preceded in death by his son Jimmy and brother Andy. The family gives special thanks to Annie Chapple and to Heartland Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
Carrol Erwin Washburn, age 78 of Flint went home to be in heaven with his wife Gloria, son Ronald, daughters Judy and Susan. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters Barbara (Charles) Webb of Flint, Terry (Danny) Miller of Plainfield, IL, and Tracy DelRio of Ontario, Canada; sons Eric (Stephanie) Washburn and David (Roxann) Washburn of Flint and Paul (Sherry) Washburn of Jamestown, ND; sister Dolores Hinchey of Pinckney and Clarice Spicer of Pontiac; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Graveside services, military honors, and burial will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Arrangements by Dryer Funeral Home, Holly and flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
Jack Vernon Choler , 1931-2007, of Holly died August 6, 2007 after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Jean; son Ron (Marion) Choler of Port Orange, FL; daughter Jackie (Lewis) Ethterton of Longwood, FL; step-daughter Laura Pearce of Otsego, MI; brother Jerry (Sharon) Choler of Sevierville, TN; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He retired from Hodges Supply of Pontiac, MI. In the past he was an avid bowler and golfer. More recently, he loved train travel. At his request there will be no service. After cremation his ashes and the ashes of his beloved dog Brownie will be scattered at Port Orange, FL in the Atlantic Ocean. Arrangements were made by the Dryer Funeral Home.
Jocelyn "Jo" (Austin) Sexton, age 88 of Holly died Sun. July 29, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thurs. Aug.2, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Robert Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Tues. and Wed. Mrs. Sexton was born in Holly on June 19, 1919 the daughter of the late Earl and Hazel (Hubble) Austin. Surviving are 4 children, Tommie Rose of Marshall, WI, Alfreda Rose of Lake, Frances (William) Schroeder of Holly, and Kathleen (Jerry) Bentley of Elkton; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother Larry (Marilyn) Austin of Petoskey; 2 sisters Letha Heitzner of Petoskey and Ida Sackrider of Wolverine; many nieces and nephews and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Roy Bentley, a great-great-granddaughter, and 9 brothers and sisters. Avnee Lynn-Jayne Nash, infant daughter of Amanda Nash of Holly died Wed. July 25, 2007. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Also surviving are her grandparents Dan and Laurie Nash of Holly; great-grandparents Jim and Mary Smith of Atlanta, MI and Ron and Bev Nash of Traverse City; uncle Private Matthew Nash of FT.
