Patricia J. Edwards, age 77 of Vero Beach FL., formerly of Highland died Tues. July 24, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday. July 27, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Michael Rath officiating. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation 6-9 PM Thursday. Mrs. Edwards was born in Pontiac on March 14, 1930 the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Lewis) Jeffreys. She was an avid painter and was a lover of life and her family. Surviving are her husband Carmi Edwards Sr.; 4 children; Lorraine Burbach of PA, Ron Heft of Hadley, Norman Heft of Imlay City, and Carmri Edwards Jr of Linden.; 7 grandchildren, Ed, Sarah, Rebecca, Danielle, Ashley, Sylvan, and Seth; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Walter Jeffreys; and sister Dorothy Jeffreys of FL. Felix C. Dziuba, age 82 of Davisburg died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sat. June 30, 2007. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Fri. July 6, 2007 at St. Rita Catholic Church of Holly with Father David Blazek, Celebrant. Burial and military honors will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Thurs and a Rosary prayed at 7:00 P.M. Thurs at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mr. Dziuba was born in Posen on Feb. 2, 1925 the son of John and Eva (Lewcio) Dziuba. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army as a tank driver and mine sweeper. He attended Posen Schools and Michigan State University. He was a retired painter and steeple jack and also owned Felix's Bottle Gas of Davisburg where he was a resident for 50 years. He was known as the"Ultimate Bargainer". He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW, Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion and was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. Surviving are his wife Annabelle; 7 children, Dianne (Doug) Parrish of Holly, Janice (Don) Jones of AR, Dorie (Robert) Mather of Davison, Phyllis (Terry) Gouza of Rexton, F. Wayn Dziuba of Moran, Loni Hosler of Flint, and Dave (Shelly) Dziuba of Mayville; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother John Dziuba of Alpena; 2 sisters Joanne Dziuba of Flint and Lillian (Melbourne) LeMieux of Alpena. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Stanley and Chauncey Dziuba; sisters Frances Howard and Lorraine Dziuba; and grandchildren, Patrick Jones, Danyese LaClair, Robert Parrish, and April Gouza. Cassie G. Priest, age 89 of Holly died Wed. June 27, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Mon. July 2, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Burial will be in Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be from 4-9 P.M. Sat. and from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Sun. Mrs. Priest was born in Lancing, TN on May 16, 1918 the daughter of Samuel and Sadie (Garrett) Cromwell. She was retired from General Motors and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holly. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Loretta (Herbert) Butler of Linden; 2 grandchildren, Derrick (Amy) Butler of Fenton and Craig Butler of Fenton; 4 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hogan, Tyrus, and Shae; sister Macel Chaney of TN; brother Melvin Cromwell of TN; and sister-in-law Mildred Cromwell. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvil Priest. Memorials may be made to Carriage Town Mission or Brian's House.
Donald H. Giles, age 85 of Burton, formerly of Holly died Wed. June 20, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Sat. June 23, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial and military honors will be 11:00 A.M. Mon. June 25, 2007 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 5-9 Thurs. and from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Fri. Mr. Giles was born in Holly on Nov. 11, 1921 the son of Hazen and Zella (Hunt) Giles. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army. He was a member of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW, a member of Holly Presbyterian Church, and was retired from the Holly Post Office. Surviving are 2 children, Lynne Hallett of Davisburg and James (Patty) Giles of Otter Lake; 5 grandchildren, Ida (Chuck) Milleur of White Lake, Brad (Michelle) Hallett of Clarkston, Amy (Erik) Revord of Swartz Creek, Charles (Julie) Anderson of GA, and Pam (Medhi) Kalantar of KY. Dorothy J. Stevens, age 83 of Holly died Mon. June 18, 2007. Military honors will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Mrs. Stevens was born in Flint on Jan. 26, 1924 the daughter of Hugh and Essie (Taylor) Jeffers. She was a veteran of WWII, serving in the WAC. She is survived by her sister Beverly (Donald) Ellis of Holly; niece D'Arcy (Kevin) Williams of Grand Blanc; and great-nieces Meagan (Matthew) turner of Grand Blanc and Erica Williams of Grand Blanc.
Carolyn Eve Hubble Monette, age 55 of Holly died Sun. June 17, 2006 after a 30 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wed. June 20, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Tuesday. Carolyn was born on Sept. 24, 1952 the daughter of Norman and Audra (Clark) Hubble. She was a graduate of Clarkston Schools. Surviving are her children Brandy Sue Monette of Union Lake and George Joseph Monette III of Holly; and brother Lester Hubble of Waterford. Michael John Thrasher, age 34 of Holly died Wed. June 13, 2007 at home. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-3 on Friday. Michael was born in Flint on Jan.13, 1973. He is survived by his father and step-mother Lynn and Linda Thrasher of Holly; step-brothers Wilford and Adam McCallum of Flint; grandmother Geraldine Thrasher of Grand Blanc; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
