Jon Michael Manning, age 54 of Holly died suddenly July 29, 2007. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Fri. Aug. 3, 2007 at the Flint Odyssey House., 529 Martin Luther King Blvd., Flint, Mi 48503. Mr. Manning was born in Detroit on July 11, 1953 the son of John and Dorothy (Lee) Manning. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army. He was a deputy director for 17 years with the Flint Odyssey House and Strive. Through his job and personal life Jon was committed to helping others improve their lives and was involved with the development of the community around him. He was a beloved husband and father and devoted grandfather. Robert A. Johnson, age 82 of Holly died Tues. July 24, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 27, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Thursday. Mr. Johnson was born in Union City, Michigan on Sept. 30, 1924 the son of George and Mabel (Hicks) Johnson. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army. He was retired from GM, was a member of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW, a member of the Holly Lions Club, and attended the First Baptist Church of Holly. Surviving are his wife Ruth; children, Robert Colebank of Holly, Patricia (Gary) Fletcher of OH, Linda (Mike) Grant of OH, Barbara Kokx of Milford, Michael (Andrea) Johnson of Kalamazoo, Carol (Leonard) Suprenaut of TX, Fred (Milly) Prause of Flushing, and Evelyn (Glen) Andrews of Flint; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Lawrence Johnson Lake, MI; sister Ruth Gosseck of WI; the Herman foster family; and his friends at the Holly Donut Shop. William E. Whitmore III, age 70 of Holly died Sat. July 7, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tues. Mr. Whitmore was born in Arlington VA on Nov. 2, 1936 the son of William and Alma (Gibson) Whitmore. He was retired from General Motors and was very active with the Holly Depot Restoration Project. Esther Jackson Peck, age 83 of Holly died Fri. June 29, 2007 at home. She was born Sept. 10, 1923 in Plymouth, NH and was a resident of Holly for over 35 years. Esther was known throughout the community for her involvement with Therapy Dog International and her scheduled visits to convalescent homes. hospitals, rehab centers, private patients, and schools with her therapy dog, Murphy in Michigan and Maryland. She received the volunteer of the year award from Crestmont Healthcare Center in 2002. She was an avid caregiver to animals and people alike. She is survived by 3 daughters, Mary L. (Steven) Shoen, Martha W. Dillon, and Patricia A. (Michael) Irwin; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Peck Jr., son Robert C. Peck III, 2 grandchildren, Peter Christian Adams and Brian Verstreate; and son-in-law Wayne Dillon. A private family service will be held in July. A memorial service for friends and the community will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sat. Aug. 4, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mildred H. Dobrzeniecki, age 88 of Grand Blanc, formerly of Detroit died Mon. June 25, 2007.

Friday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mrs. Dobrzeniecki was born in Hamtramck on Nov. 10, 1918 the daughter of Joseph and Victoria (Niecpoin) Tobis. She was a veteran of WWII, serving in the WAC. Dorothea Blanch Horton, age 97 formerly of Springfield Township, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2007 in Florida. Mrs. Horton was born in Groveland Twp. on June 15, 1910 to William and Anna Swayze. She graduated from Holly High School, and attended County Normal where she received her teacher certificate. She married Edmund S. Horton and became a fulltime wife and mother. She was an active member of Davisburg United Methodist Church and maintained her membership, even after her permanent move to Florida in 1992. Surviving are her daughters Barbara (Robert) Clark of Clarkston and Phyllis (Farrell) Burk of Helena, AL; her son J. William (Joyce) Horton of Bradenton, FL; as well as 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, as well as 2 grandsons and her daughter-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thurs. June 21, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Bill Seitz officiating. Burial will be in Davisburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 P.M. Wednesday. Dr. Daniel F. Skiba passed away peacefully at home on the morning of June 12, 2007 after battling a courageous fight against acute leukemia. Dan was born in Detroit on Chelsea Ave. in 1925 and attended St Stanislaus High School. After graduation Dan proudly enlisted in the US Army and served his country, attaining the rank of sergeant in Northern Europe during World War II. Dan later attended the University of Detroit Dental School and practiced in Farmington, Michigan for over 40 years. His greatest pride was being a grandfather to his eleven grandchildren. He always answered lovingly to the names of "Grampy", "Papa", and "Dan, Dan, the Dentist Man". Dan was very proud of his four beautiful daughters and all of their accomplishments. He is survived by his loving wife Diane; four daughters, Pat (Jerry) Fehribach, Mary Ann (Walt) Skiba Ambrose, Kathleen (Richard) Finlayson, and Heather (Mark) DePollo; eleven grandchildren; and brother Edwin Skiba. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Mon. June 18, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial and military honors will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Richard (Dick) Earl Hardy Jr., age 74 of Davisburg, June 8, 2007. Dick was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.
