Dorothy L. Pretznow, age 80 of Holly died Sat. July 25, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Tues. July 28, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 3-5 P.M. Tues. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Holly. Mrs. Pretznow was born in Pontiac on July 22, 1929 the daughter of William and Silvia (Brown) Wilcox. She is survived by her son Thomas (Sandra) Pretznow of Holly 3 grandchildren, Ian Pretznow, Dusti Blanton, and Lucy Pretznow; great-granddaughter Lexi; and sister Loretta Kayga. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Pretznow and her son Mickey Pretznow. The family gives special thanks to the staff of Genesys Hospice Care Center of Goodrich. Ellen Jean Alpert, age 93, formerly of Fenton, MI and Gladwin, MI passed away peacefully on July 18, 2009 in the care of Covenant Hospice at the Delta Health Care Nursing Facility in Miramar Beach, Michigan for many years. Her first love was art and she produced many fine pieces of painted porcelain over the years. Jean is survived by her daughter Donna Bruder (Karl) of Gladwin, North Carolina and Tom Alpert (Peggy) of Loveland, Colorado. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Ronald D. Timpe, age 80 of Holly died Wed. July 15, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, with Chaplain Goodie officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon Friday until the time of the service. He was the beloved husband of the late Janette and Gertrude Ann Timpe. He is survived by 4 children; Robert (Peggy) Kerr, David (Cathy) Kerr, June (Jeff) Torres and Roy Fickes. He was the brother of Roberta Gransden (friend Jim), Donald (Eloise) Timpe, Jacquline Gard, the late Doris Moralis, and the late Geraldine (Jack) Parker; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. He was retired from G.M. Truck/Bus Local #598 and a member of V.F.W. Post #7303 Beaverton. Mr. Timpe was a avid bowler, golfer and loved the Detroit Tigers. Gary W. Montague, age 65, of Flint died Mon. July 6, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Sat. July 11, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. John S. Terrell officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Friday. Mr. Montague was born in Ann Arbor on April 19, 1944 the son of George and Barbara (Burden) Montague. Surviving are his wife Donna; mother Barbara Montague; brothers George, Daryl, Douglas, and Ricky; sisters Darlene, Julia, Brenda, Barbara, and Bonnie. He was preceded in death by his father George Montague and brothers Larry, Daryl, and George Montague.. .
Gerald L. Willis, age 74 of Oxford passed away Monday, June 29, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 5-9 Tuesday. He was the beloved brother of Robert J. of NV, Donna Merzi of TX, Ruth Lang of Warren, John W. of Clarkston, Carol McClelland of CA, Thomas A. of Warren and Shirley Willis of Holly. Preceded in death by his brother Benjamin and parents Frederick and Helen (Makela) Willis. He was also "Uncle Jerry" to 21 nieces and nephews, he also leaves his constant canine companion G. D. Bert. Born Oct. 30, 1934 Jerry grew up at 7170 Private Dr., Pontiac. After graduating from Waterford Twp. High School, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and serve during the Korean Conflict. He has lived in Oxford since 1965, was a teamster delivering for the Pontiac/Oakland Press. He then decided to devote his time to operating Willis Tree Moving and Nursery. Hardworking, inquistive, thoughtful, with a quick and dry wit, Jerry enjoyed family time, his pets, his music, violins, horticulture, and tooling around town. Rose A. Goings, age 57 of Holly died Mon. June 22, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 26, 2009 at Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Randy Cullen officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Thursday. Rose was born in Holly on Oct. 22, 1951 the daughter of Clyde and Betty (Owens) Goings. She was a beloved mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son Robert (Jennifer) Goings of Gaines; 2 step-children, Debbie Dielhl of Fenton and Jeff Richards of Holly; 2 grandchildren, Bryce and Allyson Goings; 3 step-grandchildren, Adam Diehl and Colton and Craig Richards; step-great-grandchild Joslyn Diehl; brothers and sisters, John (Barb) Goings of Holly, Frank Goings of Pontiac, Patty Vestal of Holly, Connie Collins of Burton, and Betty Sue Goings of Flint. Richard James Cook, age 83, of Holly, died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 18, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Friday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mr. Cook was born in Detroit on May 17, 1926 the son of Edward Archie Cook and Florence (Willoughby) Cook. He was retired from Consumers Power Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holly, where he was an usher for many years. He was formerly very active with Holly Little League Baseball as an umpire, coach, and league president. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Roberta; 4 children, Linda (Robert) Hester of Cedar Springs, MI, Jim (Becky) Cook of Holly, Richard M. Cook of Holly, and Jill (Richard Kalinowski) Cook of Holly; 7 grandchildren, Bobby Hester, Amy Tinderalle, Tammy Peterson, Beau Cook, Jessica Dunn, Kimberly Murphy, and Adam Cook; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister Dorothy Cook of Warren. Arnold A. (Art) Luther, age 89 of Holly passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Fri., June 12, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wed. June 17, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM Wed. Mr. Luther was born in Unionville on Nov. 26, 1919, the son of Oscar B. and Orilla (Streeter) Luther. Mr. Luther was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy and was a tool and die maker before retiring in 1982. He was the husband of the late Ethelyn H. (Babe) Luther who preceded him in death in 2002, father of Grant and Marilyn Luther of Kalamazoo, Diana and Ted Wagoner of Fenton, and Patricia Luther of Holly; grandfather of Shannon Wagoner of Fenton, Shelly and Chris Christensen of Flint, Shawn and Diane Wagoner of Flushing, Stephanie Luther and Stacey Flores both of Kalamazoo; great-grandfather of Tanner Luther, Annika and Gabriel Flores of Kalamazoo; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. The family gives special thanks to Genesys Hospitalists Group and Genesys Home Care and Hospice.
