Jacqueline M. Scigliano, age 91 of Holly died Tues. March 10, 2009 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. John Catholic Church Parish Chapel with Father Bosco Padamattummal, Celebrant. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Fenton. Mrs. Scigliano will lie in state at the St. John Parish Chapel from 10 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Mrs. Scigliano was born in Bay City on August 21, 1917 the daughter of Ray and Louise (Abare) Carmer. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Scigliano. Michael Brown, age 66 of Holly died Sat. Feb. 28, 2009. Mike was born in Detroit, the son of Elizabeth and Walter Brown and has one brother Walter Brown of Fenton. Mike was a 1960 graduate of Holly High School and retired from GM after 45 years of service. His greatest love was for family and motorcycling. Survivors include his wife of 38 years Linda Disbrow Brown; sons, Ryan Brown, Greg (Tami) Klopfer, and Jacob (Marcia) Klopfer; daughters Gina Brown and Tina Catenacci; seven grandchildren, Collin, Ben, Andrew, Gabe, Bella, Elissa, and Emily. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wed. March 4, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Randy Cullen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 7-9 P.M. Mon. and 2-5 and 7-9 PM Tues. Memorial donations may be made to Genesys Hospice.
Wade Cooper Everhart, age 38, of Holly died Wed. Feb. 25, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Mon. March 2, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM Monday. Mr. Everhart was born in Flint on July 23, 1970 the son of Gary and Sharon (Smith) Everhart. He was a member of the Oakwood Restoration Branch Church, and he enjoyed sports, motorcycling, and old cars. He was a giving person, willing to share his time with anyone. He will be sadly missed by his family and his associates. Surviving are his mother Sharon Everhart of Holly; father Gary Everhart of Charlotte; brother Tracy Everhart of Linden; grandparents Don and Louise Everhart of Holly; uncles Greg Everhart of GA and Ronald Smith of Columbiaville; and aunt Shirley Villarreal of Flint.
Todd J. Harness, age 48 of Highland died Sat. Feb. 14, 2009. He is survived by his wife Lenora; daughter Aliah of Bannerman, IL; 2 step-daughters Jessica and Deanna; parents Jason and Joy Harness of Highland; brother Brian Harness; and grandmother Elizabeth Harness. A private family memorial will be held.
Long-time newspaper publisher Donald J. Campbell died Sunday, Feb. 8, at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City. He was 90.Mr. Campbell was owner and publisher of the Holly Herald Advertiser from 1961-1983 before selling the newspaper to his son, Alan. Even after the sale, he worked selling ads and writing for the newspaper, eventually putting in more than 50 years in the newspaper business. He also authored two published books, “The Party at Twin Oaks Ranch” and “Scoop”.Mr. Campbell was born in Grand Rapids on Jan. 28, 1919, the son of Harry and Ethel Campbell of Ionia. He had two brothers who passed on before him, Robert and Charles. He worked in the summers at the family resort on Houghton Lake, starred on Ionia football, basketball and track teams, played in the high school band, and even wrote the school fight song.He served stateside as an Army medic during World War II, then attended Michigan State University where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in journalism. He wrote for the Cadillac Evening News, Port Huron Times Herald, United Press International (UPI) desk in Detroit, and Fremont Times Indicator before deciding he wanted to own a newspaperIn 1953, he married Helen Crandell, a school teacher who was raised in Morrice. The two purchased the Belleville Gazette, then in 1961 sold the Gazette to purchase the Holly Herald Advertiser.The Campbells were both very active in the communities they lived. Mr. Campbell is a former president of the Holly Chamber of Commerce and Holly Kiwanis Club, and helped organize and print the Goodfellow newspaper in Holly. On many a late Tuesday night he could be found in his office in the Holly Herald writing up a council meeting for the next day’s newspaper. He was a member of the Holly Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder. He played his trumpet in the Holly Festival band until just a couple years ago.Helen Campbell died in May 13, 1977. In 1984, he married Evelyn Ziegler, who preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2008.Mr. Campbell was an avid sports fan, having taken his family to see the ‘big game” between MSU and Notre Dame in 1966, two World Series games and two Rose Bowl games. He had the strength to navigate the steep steps of the Breslin Center to attend MSU basketball games in each of the past two seasons. His brother Bob played football at U-M, brother Charles played football at Ferris State College, and his nephew Dave played baseball for the Tigers and Padres, and is a sports announcer for ESPNMr. Campbell also loved to travel with his wives, counting trips to the Rockies, Washington D.C., Greece, Hawaii and 13 cruises among his many blessings. He had a knack for making and retaining friends.Surviving are two sons, Stuart Campbell of Harrison and Alan (Debra) Campbell of Suttons Bay; two grandsons, Cody Alan Campbell and Scott Campbell, and five nephews. Through his marriage to Evelyn, he is also survived by two daughters, Gloria (Dan) Leffler of Livonia and Houghton Lake and Linda (Mike) Schaefer of Brea, Calif., and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the Dryer Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Sat. at the funeral home, followed by a luncheon. Burial will be later that afternoon at Roselawn in Perry beside his wife, Helen.Memorial contributions may be made to the Holly Kiwanis Club or the Holly Presbyterian Church.
Thomas P. Connors, age 34, formerly of Harrison Twp. died Jan. 27, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thurs. Feb. 12, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Military honors and burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Wed. at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the NRA. He was employed in government contract work in Kansas. He is survived by his father Ernest Connors of Holly and fiancée Jenna Hardesty of Olsburg, KS. He was preceded in death by his mother Judith Ann Connors.
Sally Mackenzie Dryer, age 75 of Holly died Thurs. Feb. 5, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Randy Cullen officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 AM Tuesday. Sally was born in Hammond, Indiana on Sept. 7, 1933 the daughter of Bryce and Elsie (Wolters) Dabler. She was retired from a career in nursing from North Oakland Medical Center. She was a community minded volunteering for many community service programs including the Holly Volunteer Ambulance and hospice. She was a lifelong member of the Holly Presbyterian church. Surviving are 3 children, Timothy (Carrie) MacKenzie of Holly, April Aitken of FL, and Nancy MacKenzie of New Orleans; 3 grandchildren, Jack Aitken, Carlie MacKenzie, and Jennifer MacKenzie; and sister Bonnie (Doug) Rounds of GA. She was preceded in death by her sister Diane Welch.

Denise was born in Howell on Sept. 7, 1952 the daughter of Eugene and ReJeanne (LaMarche) Reed. She was a police dispatcher with the Holly Police Department for 24 years and was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. She will be sadly missed by her 2 children, Jennifer Allen of Grand Blanc and John Allen of Holly; father Eugene Reed of CA; brothers and sisters Dennis (Debbie) Reed of Holly, Janet (Terry) Hoag of Holt, Eugenia Reed of Fenton, and Ronald Reed of Oscoda. Allen R. Wagner Sr., age 76 of Linden, died Sat. Jan. 31, 2009. Private services will be held. Mr. Wagner was born in Detroit, MI on July 27, 1932 the son of Raymond and Hazel Wagner. Charles F. Myler Jr., age 74 of Swartz Creek, died Fri. Jan. 23, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sat. Jan. 31, 2009 at the Grand Blanc Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop John Juarez officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Mr. Myler was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 29, 1934 the son of Charles and Mable (Beebe) Myler. He served in the US Army and the US Air Force Reserves. He was a teacher in the Flint School System for 30 years and was a Bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Surviving are his wife Lois; 6 children, Lance (Candy) Myler of NY, Cheryl (Vic) Holove on IN, David (Molly) Myler of TN, LaDawn (Clark) Rawlins of IN, Chad (June Hall) of NV, and Janelle (Ryan) Washington of VA; 26 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and sister Lyla Butler of UT. He was preceded in death by his sons Christopher and Phillip Myler. Memorials may be made to the Missionary Fund of the Grand Blanc Stake center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Barbara J. Feole, age 75 of Holly died Thurs. Jan. 22, 2009. Sunday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mrs. Feole was born in Detroit on March 24, 1933 the daughter of Joseph and Della Termans. Surviving are 3 children Laurie Jordan of Holly, Ilene Kennedy of Port Hope and Joseph Seconder of GA; 8 grand children and several great-grand children. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church choir. She loved painting, drawing, animals and her angel collection. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
